Moreover, if she did write a hit, I think they could probably talk her round to doing a handful of strategically placed shows. I think they're underestimating the power of Chris having a positive recording experience with the band. The more comfortable she is, the more they'll likely get out of her. Talk nice to her, Mick, talk nice. . .anything is possible. |

When I spoke to Ken at his book signing, he mentioned that Lindsey had a problem with using her ITM demos to roll into a new FM album, back in 2004. He said that Mick wanted to do it but got resistance about it and also stated that nobody had the balls to stand up to LB. It was a weird comment after he had just mentioned to me how fond LB is of Christine.
Wonder what really went down in 1998 and the Dance tour in 1997.

I honestly think that members of Fleetwood Mac sometimes do not want to stand up to Lindsey for good reason: he becomes unbearable to deal with and he's very hard to argue against. Lindsey has a reputation of being difficult and for liking things a certain way: his way. While it is inarguable that everyone in the Mac has an ego, Lindsey was always the primary creative force and main producer in the band of their own material. I'm sure like we do when we have reached a certain point the band just wanted to go with the flow, as to avoid another almost-certain fight. I'm sure John has felt this way and didn't want to run into issues, hence why he often keeps his mouth shut. Stevie certainly has wanted to avoid fights and has done so by staying away from the band, spending much of her recent years on solo projects and tours where she has no issues. Of course, there is the one famous instance from the Destiny Rules documentary when she told Lindsey off regarding the lyrics to Thrown Down. But overall I don't think she spoke up as much as she wanted to, hence why it's been widely reported she was unhappy with the final result of Say You Will (and probably the fact that they went through with Lindsey's plan to do a double album, a la Tusk) and was miserable on the tour.
As much as the politics behind Fleetwood Mac seem to be very public, I think there is much that has gone on behind the scenes that rules into their decision-making, their setlists, why some members want to record and why others don't. And most importantly, why Christine had had enough and quit the band, which probably has much more background than we know and is never discussed as it might further fracture the band. |

There's no question that I loved ITM, but I would have loved it a hundred times more if it had presented within the context of the band. I'm so confused. And I think that Stevie HAS stood up to Lindsey on this point. She has stated how she feels about Christine not being there, she's said it in interviews with Lindsey in the room. Is this another instance where she's been outvoted, and hence, her growing frustration with the present band dynamic? Or is it the case that back in 2003/4 she also didn't want Chris on the album for whatever reason? At this point, I have more questions than answers! And I agree that there are things that happened that we know nothing about. But whatever they are, they apparently were not good. Not good at all. Did Ken drop any other little tidbits on this topic? (Or any other topic for that matter.) |

i think that anybody who thinks Stevie Nicks in this day and age is outvoted in Fleetwood Mac is delusional.
just my 0.02, take it or keep running with the speculations, whatever makes you happy. ![]()

I've said what I've said on this topic, and I'm not going to defend or elaborate. If anyone offers new information, then of course, I will ask questions. Because yes, it makes me happy. |

I didn't know that Stevie stated things about Christine during duo interviews with LB. Would love to read those.

Stevie has no problem standing up to Lindsey. That line of reasoning gets old. Yes, he IS the most influential, and dominant member of the band, but they're all big boys and girls and are perfectly capable, and often willing, to stand up to him. If they're not, then that's their problem.
