I have to agree on that not releasing albums like other artists do about 1 to 2 a year like Cracker Jacks and have number one hits on top of it.

Times have drastically changed. Way back when, it was expected that artists put out at least one album a year, to maintain their exposure and stay current and relevant. Sometimes bands would release two albums a year. Letting more than two years go by without an album put your career in danger of obsolescence.

When Mirage was released in 1982, the media hailed it as a reunion, because Fleetwood Mac hadn't released a new studio album in a very long time - almost three years! As they became more established, and developed solo careers, the focus on the group dissipated, and time spans between albums grew longer and longer.

Things got a lot dicier when Lindsey left the group. In perspective to other long-standing groups, you might expect that the Rumours-era band (and proceeding various mutations) would have produced a larger body of work. I guess you can say it's quality over quantity. Christine proved to be the middle ground, when she left, it became the Stevie and Lindsey show, and aside from Say You Will, we can all see how that's working out.
