The most cliched words for "the concert is not selling."

Isn't it a bit early to make that call? It's still 6 months away.

I'm sure that the concert industry has some kind of algorithm regarding the percentage of tix sold vs. the time left to sell tix. Since Helsinki is the last date of the Euro tour, they must have figured that they could save some money by ending the tour a couple of days early, especially if they end up losing money for the promoter.

Come on! to my knowledge, there is one Ledgie since 2003 who is Finnish. Am I the only one that feels sorry for him? FM has not played Finland for... About 38 years? And now they cancel? That sacks.

I thought that would be a great place for a world tour to "Finnish"

I appreciate the sympathy guys. It's not a very big deal for me because I already saw them in Germany 10 years ago. And while that was an unforgettable night, it's not something I've obsessively wanted to repeat again. There's still the same core 15 songs that they play with only a third of the setlist changing. It makes that one gig all the more unique then. ![]() It's the other Finnish fans that have never seen the band that I feel sorry for. Some were fans even before it became trendy to like the band, something that was made possible by the somewhat recent indie trends. But of course there's people also in the trendier bunch who genuinely love the band, and that's great. There's not many of us fans here, but there's certainly more than there were in 2003, I can tell you that. I'm glad that Sweden remains an option for some people here. I know people who went there in 2009 and enjoyed the show. I'm a different person now with bigger interests than Fleetwood Mac, although the band still remains a part of my life, so I won't be going this time either. But to anyone who goes: have a blast! *back to lurking* |

Makes me wonder why tickets are not going good in some countries?
Amsterdam was sold out, 15.000 tickets, in one day. Why not 2 concerts??? In the US it is the same, they only come once to a venue..... Only Londen they play the same venue 2 times..... ![]() |

Dublin 2 concerts and London 3.
Why is that? I mean i'm sure that there are other places where they can give 2 concerts and selling the place out. Amsterdam to name one but also in the US......... Anyone? |

And new here. I think i could answer your question.. First, the obvious reason for Helsinki cancellation was that tickets werent selling. Couple of days before cancellation news, i checked and you could buy great THIRD row seats in front. Amazing when the Eagles sold out two concert here in something like 20 minutes. The problem is that the Nicks-Buckingham era Fleetwood Mac is rather unknown thing in Finland. It somehow hasnt spread here.. and if somebody knows the band, i always noticed they refer to the Peter Green -era blues band. Maybe because of the internet and youtube there is a younger generation following.. like a really big undeground thing for special taste, rather than big nostalgia concert for Buckingham-Nicks FM´s generation, the usual target group for the concerts. I am sure if this would have been the blues-version of Fleetwood Mac, tickets would have sold much more (but i like the Buckingham-Nicks era). Blues version of the band was here 44 years ago. That is what the older generations of music freaks in Finland know, blues-era FM. And blues people dont seem to like Rumours era stuff here. Then i also heard that 100 euros for FM was too much for younger folks who actually KNEW the Nicks-Buckingham era stuff. I was thinking the cancellation may happen because it´s too much of a "niche" for such a big event for finnish people. They may know some hits like Little Lies and Dreams but not know what band it is. The difference why Helsinki got cancelled and Stockholm is going strong is that Finland is not a pop country, and our mainstream music is in metal and rock. There´s never any talk or stuff going on about Buckingham-Nicks era FM here in Finland in music mags... Only some music fans with special taste or musicians like me know their existense and follows them. They would deserve much more attention here in Finland! Oh well...off to Stockholm then! ![]() |
