I went to the screening in Bollingbrook, IL on the 2nd. I also drug the significant other along (he's a very casual fan).
I should have written this sooner when things were more fresh in my mind but here are a few comments/observations off the top of my head:

-Stevie chews gum a lot. Even while singing. (Nicorette?)
-I wish she had given in a bit more and let Dave be more "weird" during production.
-Stevie is very stubborn.
-Stevie is VERY funny and downright goofy at times. I'd love to have a glass (or bottle) of wine with her.
-Thought it was funny and a bit odd that the clip from Destiny Rules was included that pretty much made Lindsey look like a huge jerk. That comment must have REALLY pissed her off.
-Stevie has a very selective memory. I'm sure we are all aware of this by now though. For instance, when recalling how CTF came about....she said Reese made the comment "it's cheaper than free"....her and Dave immediately looked at eachother as inspiration hit....they showed the clip of this happening and neither one were looking at eachother. This may be nitpicky but also struck me as funny. Oh Stevie.

I wish I could remember more! I need to see this a few (hundred) more times to let every nuance sink in to overanalyze LOL. Overall I thought it was a very beautiful love letter of a film. I can totally see it airing on IFC. Fingers crossed the original four hour edit will see the light of day (yeah right!) I was worried the casual fan I brought would be bored to tears as many reviews said it was for die-hards only but he really enjoyed it and talked about it a lot afterwards unprompted. He said he likes Stevie a lot more now that he saw how much thought and feeling went into her songs and that she is now in his top five singers ever. Another convert!

I swear I read an interview where Stevie said she wrote New Orleans because knowing the people there were rebuilding they would need the revenue from tourism she wanted to write a song that inspired people to go there. Even giving thousands of dollars would still be a drop in the bucket in what was needed but writing a song that got people excited about visiting this historic place again could mean a continued review stream in regards to tourism. I think that's really what she was trying say in the movie.

Has there been any word on an actual release for this other than the few screenings that have been going on> While I'm happy for those who have seen it - people outwith the US (or who aren't near screening venues) need to see the film too! Help!

Recent word is it will be released on Video On Demand and Digital Downloadin late spring. Being its already finished and releasing it this way is ( seemingly) simple, I'd like to believe its taking until then because they are adding in the music videos and extras. ( fingers crossed on that).

We're driving out to Long Beach this morning ( about 1 hr, 45 min.) to see it one last time. Hoping to see Snoop Dogg, er, Lion trolling around in the LBC, yo.!

Hey Jaime, is it being shown regulary there now? I thought it was one of the April 2nd one night only gigs. My BFF (ironically named Jaimie) lives two streets over from the theatre, and took a pic of the marquee 4/2. That's great if it's getting a more than one run play. I'm going to see it tonight in Portland. Have a blast!!

Thanks! I did have a blast today. I asked the manager if I could have the poster and he said he couldnt give it to me because they might have yet ANOTHER screening. But he took my name and number down and said he'd call me.

This was my last screening. I got a little sad towards the end because it meant the IYD era is over pretty much. It was a great ride for me and I really got to have some fantastic ecperiences through this record that I'll never forget.

We just got back from our screening. Other than a few annoying peope in audience...one that felt compelled to shout out who each person was that landed on the screen accompanied by a "yea baby" as in "Mick Fleetwood...YEA BABY" the second go round of it was really nice. I concur with you about the end of a SN era. Hadn't thought of it that way, but I was kinda misty eyed at the end. Mostly I wondered if I'd ever see this film again.

I had asked the manager at the very beginning about the poster, made a few jokes about "hey auction it off" (they really need donations at that theatre) and he said "no, just go ahead and take it now." I almost went to go break glass to make that happen. Still, at end of theatre, after all had dispersed, I asked again, tehn got the run around of "no we have to ship it back w/ film." Said that's not what was said earlier, but I am not joking, I will make some contribution to place...PLEASE gimme!!! lol. I was happy to see a full size poster, as the ones I have seen are only 11x17.

On your side~ if they DO add more screenings, chance to see it again, and if not, that sounds like it might stay there (at venue) I'd politely call up again tomorrow. Mention you left name and number, etc. No harm, no foul.

Cheers!!

Is Video On Demand a US only based service? I haven't heard of it at all here in the UK and I know that certain things, Rhjapsody etc, are only available in the US. Thanks guys!

Hilarious. I bet you could have won that game. It's not like he was going to know enough to go, "Torrey Devitto, YEA BABY!"

LMAO!! Yup, and then afterward when people are like, "no, I think Sharon is her cousin" or some such INCORRECT info, I don't want to be an a-hole to correct them, but it's like um, atleast they heard something-be it right or wrong.

I loved the movie, it surpassed my expectations! I brought my mom along, who is not a devoted Stevie fan, and she may have even enjoyed it more than I did. My mom wanted her own copy of In Your Dreams immediately after the movie, and I think she really represents the target audience, because she remarked after the film, "If I didn't know the stories behind the songs, I wouldn't be interested, but now that I know how special they are, I love them."

Default In your dreams

My first post ever! I'm not a die hard fan but I do like Stevie Nicks and FM alot. Was a child of the eighties back when MTV was showing Stevie videos constantly. Anyway, I loved IYD. I saw it in Pgh and heard people in the crowd saying they planned to drive to Cleveland to see it but found out at the last minute it was here. I took my friend who is 81 and afterwards she looked at me and said, "I loved it!" One funny thing.... I thought Glenn Ballard looked homeless. I didn't even know that was Glenn Ballard until I read the credits.

My friend and I really wanted to see FM here but tix are pricey and I'm not sure if my friend is up for major concert going due to health issues. Saw FM about 20 years ago but had crappy seats. I've really enjoyed reading these message boards and learning new things. Do you think John McVie ever feels bad that Stevie never slept with him? Just kidding.

Default My thoughts...

I saw the film last night at the Tampa Theater here in Tampa. It wasnt crowded or anything but the Tampa Theatre holds about 1500 people so I would say there were about 200-250 folks there. When the film started most of the crowd started hooping and hollaring and yelling Stevie's name. It was pretty cool.

My favorite parts were the sections related to Soldiers Angel, You May Be the One, and Annabelle Lee. My favorite line of the film was when Stevie said something like "That is a pretty poppy chorus for an old English poem about death". I about spit my drink out.

I also really enjoyed the credits and the outtakes. I really laughed when she was talking in the high voice like her dog was talking. Overall...I would give it a B+. It was great to see inside her life, her house, and her process.

Oh...and the section on Italian Summer and her sitting in that mirror singing. Damn the woman is still so hot at 64.
