It goes to show that fans are far more astute and knowledgeable about all aspects of their career than any of the band members are. We obsess over the details: their history, songs, lyrics, set lists, performances, images. product etc.. That's why, if I ever had the chance to talk to any of them, it would be useless to ask an in-depth question regarding their history. I'd have much more facts to share with them, than they could share with me.

Lucky! It will be great for you to be able to compare them and tell us if MSG was the most smoking one. I know their adrenalin will be high for New York.

After you see a concert, you have this great thirst to see it again right away. You'll be able to quench that.

When talking about Without You, Stevie did mention their memory isn't very good, and all of this stuff they're saying about the song is just what they can remember. The intro to this song did sound similar to Secret Love. She also said that it was the song Mick heard when decided to bring Lindsey and Stevie on board. That got me very excited - I thought they were about to play Frozen Love. Without You was still a nice treat, though.

Plus, after she said they hadn't done SOTM since 1979, she added at the end that it was "cool." Watch the video for the specifics, but it was cute - she seemed excited to be doing it.

For real. She said they "found" Without You on YouTube. So simple to type in SOTM and discover the beloved Mirage version....

I don't think that they feel it's so important that they get the exact year down. They know it's been a long time and she ballparked "end of 70's". I don't see the big deal here, guys.

Not a big deal but we tend to define things in tour eras... and the Mirage version is THE version fans associate with this song. How she doesn't realize that is really surprising. I would never expect Stevie herself to know the correct date of just about anything, but like bombaysaffires pointed out this would be so simple to verify & just say "we last did this in 1982" ... of course, for the rest of the set she could say and "we've been doing all these other songs since the late '70's"...

Just a little joke there, I'm not complaining about the set!

the go your own way end solo is shortened. I don't like that. I miss the go bazerk screaming repetition in the high part before the famous low riff takes over towards the end. Did anybody else notice?

I'm hearing a trend here (if two cities can be a trend.. it is still early)... but....it is starting to sound like the show is toned way down this time.. The subdued Stevie aspect doesn't surprise me, but hearing that Lindsey's performance (muted or removed solos and the like) has been toned way down *is* surprising. What do we think is going on with this? What was the decision process for this tour??

It's the version that hardcore fans like to associate. Like Stevie, we live in our own bubble. Ledgies know far more about the band than the average fan or the band members themselves. Ledgies spend time researching on the computer. Most of the band, notably Stevie, do not use computers or spend time reviewing their own history. The specific dates and details aren't important. They just wing it.

Nothing is toned down--IMO. If they ' ve made slight adjustments here and there for range issues...that 's about it. Everyone was completely on.

I know. It's like real life, because it IS their real life. I can give you exact years for milestones like births, deaths, anniversaries, a move, or a new job. But that's about it. If you asked me when I stopped working with Frank, even though I remember everything, the goodbye party, where it was held, even what I wore, I probably would not give you an accurate YEAR for that event.

Of course, since Stevie's life takes place in a public forum, she could easily look it up, but why would she even care? It's good enough for her if we remember SOTM and want it. And if I was alone with her and could say, "hey lady, remember how Lindsey rested his head on your back that time?" and I could see by a twinkle in her eye that she had some vague inkling of what I was talking about, that would be good enough for me.

i haven't seen their previous tours and shows but this show is definitely NOT toned down. it's all "up" and everybody on the stage seems to be happy and celebrating to be there.

for chiffs, Stevie seemed much more relaxed and happier the second show than the first (not that i watched her much but even i noticed... ).

EDIT: that said, yeah Lindsey is not jazzing up various guitar parts as of yet, like he did during European etc legs of UL, especially on SN's songs. i'm hoping that's b/c tour is just starting and everybody is trying to make sure everybody else is comfortable on stage?

In an article released before the tour started she said something to the effect, "maybe we'll do sisters of the moon, we haven't done that since the 80s." I'm sure of it. Also, who cares. She's well aware of the Mirage performance, fans ask her about it all the time...even Jim Ladd has recently. She has even acknowledged that performance recently, can't remember if it was a fan or an article.

She's aware.

Good points PenguinHead and Michele..
Not only are years irrelevant to try to bring up..but the clothes have a more memorable place in their (Stevie's) mind. Gotta love em'. That's why we're all here right?!
