Just returned from the 7:00pm show at the Landmark River Oaks Theater in Houston, Texas (Sandy Stewart's neighborhood). It was quite a packed house. The theater was not sold out, but it was quite full. The crowd were very jolly and into the film. There was some clapping, hooting, hollering.....this got on at least one lady's nerves.....(I heard "shut up" as a man yelled for Annabel Lee).
I absolutley LOVED the segment about NEW ORLEANS (one of my favorite songs on the record). ALSO spotted at the Landmark River Oaks Theater for the screening was none other than BROOKE ALYSON (singer from the band NIGHTBIRD: THE STEVIE NICKS TRIBUTE BAND). Miss Brooke was waiting in line to entire the theater dressed in full Stevie attire.......My friends and I always spot Brooke at every Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac event in the Houston area and all around Texas. |

Finally saw the documentary last night. It was indeed a "magical little film". Though not quite as revealing as I hoped it would be in terms of the creative process, I thought it was very well put together and very entertaining. I think they did a great job mixing interviews, video and actual footage. The "New Orleans" and "Solider's Angel" segments got me very choked up. I could have watched the 4 hour unedited version of this no problem but I understand that it had to be edited.
Lastly, I feel that the documentary succeeded, at least for me, in drawing the viewer into the music of In Your Dreams and leaving them wanting to hear more.

I saw the documentary last night as well in the Southside of Pittsburgh and there were a lot of people there I was pleasantly surprised. I freaking loved it but wish it would have been a little longer. I could watch Stevie for days she is so freaking hilarious! I loved when they were working on Everybody Loves You as well as all the footage about New Orleans even though it was so sad! I loved Stevie trying to explain the drum part to Mick on that as well. I laughed so hard during the credits when Stevie was pretending to be talking like her dog and her and Dave singing Natural Woman was freaking hysterical. Ooh I almost forgot about her saying about dancing to disco music and then she was turning the lights on and off -ha! I have done that so many times - ha!! Stevie is just so fascinating to watch I could sit there and watch her for days.
Ahh after watching this film I had to go home and listen to In Your Dreams again. It really is such a great album! Last edited by kak125; 04-03-2013 at 09:11 AM.. |

I saw the Documentary last night at Canal Place in New Orleans....during the segment about the song New Orleans, I noticed the audience was wide-eyed and riveted to the Katrina footage and the process behind making the song, and Stevie's comments about the government...when the segment ended the audience broke out in applause....I brought 5 friends who are only casual Stevie/FM fans...when we exited the show they were all blown away by it! Now all of us can't wait to see Stevie with Fleetwood Mac when they appear at New Orleans Jazzfest next month....

i also loved her playing dreams and her voice sounded so good there. she even did the high part on the song which makes me angry that she doesnt try to do that in concert. i really hope if this comes out on dvd that they included some extra footage or something. |

yeah and the fact that she hit that note with such ease made me realize that its not even hard for her to do that. she should just go for it during the show.

Dave Stewart Interview with Lee Callahan
Seattle CBS Local http://jackseattle.cbslocal.com/2013...art-tells-all/ Playing one night only, April 2nd, in theaters around the country, “In Your Dreams” – The Stevie Nicks documentary, about the making of Stevie’s latest album of the same name, In Your Dreams… The man behind the album, musician and music producer, solo-artist, and co-member of the Eurthymics, Dave Stewart, talked about working with Stevie on both the film and the album and, about strong women rockers, (Annie Lennox, and now Stevie Nicks). “I’ve worked with many artists, Bono, Brian Ferry, Mick Jagger, but there’s always been a constant association with strong female vocalists.” About the film: “It goes in and out of reality, manifesting what goes on in Stevie’s mind.” Dave said that the more they taped, the more Stevie got into it, and soon owls, white horses and lots of lights appeared on the set. “It’s a movie for Stevie Fans, about the inside world that Stevie inhabits, and the inside of her big beautiful house.” We learn in “Dreams” that her world features costume parties, elaborate dinner feasts, fantasy creations and revealing songwriting and recording sessions, all of which are captured on film. The film is whimsical and full of fantasy, Dave even participates as a top-hat wearing tap dancer. Actress Reese Witherspoon shows up in the film, too, and some magic happened: “Yes,” says Stewart, “She invited Stevie to stay at her condo in Nashville, and Stevie replied well, ‘that would be cheap’, Reese then said, ‘nothing’s cheaper than free.’”From there, Stevie and Dave wrote, sang, and recorded ‘Cheaper Than Free’ together, and put the very lovely song on both their albums. Stewart has had a rich career as a songwriter and producer for big name rockers, and for Tom Petty, he co-wrote Don’t Come Around Here No More. “I was actually writing it for Stevie, and Tom said he wanted to finish writing it with me, and for his album.” And so it was. Rock’s biggest names have come out of England – The Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin, and yes, The Eurythmics. I asked Dave Stewart what was in the water over there. “It’s very dark and cold and rainy over there, we have to make our own amusement, plug in our guitars in our garages… a lot like Seattle, right?” Absolutely, Dave. Before we parted, Mr. Stewart reflected on Ms. Nicks a bit more, saying she’s the most hard-working and focused artist, while some people make think she’s a space cadet or hippie, but she’s full-on, a whirlwind. I pointed out that Stevie plays a mean tambourine and Dave said, “Oh she had to, because in Fleetwood Mac, they’d all take turns singing, so Stevie thougt, ‘what am I going to do, stand there?” Dave Stewart has released two new albums of his own in the past three years – The Ringmaster General and The Blackbird Diaries. |
