Please take these songs down a WHOLE STEP! (musical post)

Hi all, my first post on the thread and am excited to be part of this Fleetwood Mac community. I am a young Fleetwood Mac fan here.

One thing that has been getting to me recently is that why Stevie, in particular, doesn't take some of her songs down a whole step or even a half step!

Her voice has gotten particularly worn in the past two years--most definitely from singing SO MANY GIGS at her age-- and it would benefit her to take songs like Gypsy or Sara or Dreams or Edge of Seventeen (I know it's a solo song, but it still bears mentioning) down a whole step.

But instead of lowering the key, she sings the harmonies, which I understand is more of her thing. It is just a little frustrating when in Gold Dust Woman, people like me want to hear her belt "Go HOOOOOOOME" and in stead of getting the high A, we get the F, E, D minor walk-down instead.

Don't get me wrong, I am and will always be at Stevie's shows, no matter what the hell she does.

She's done this with a few of her solo songs -- "Leather and Lace" and "Stop Draggin'," I believe. But yeah, she could probably stand to do it more!

It's probably just easier to keep everyone else the same and for Stevie to alter her vocal part, than it is for Stevie's vocal part to stay the same and everyone else have to change. If she were taking stuff up, the guitarists/bassists could just capo, and that'd be easy peasy. But unless they're already capo'd at a higher fret somewhere, taking it down would require them to either down tune their instruments or re-learn it in a different key. Which isn't impossible, obviously, but I can see why there'd be a hesitation to do that.

You know, some songs can withstand the key change, and some just don't sound right. A different key just doesn't work for some songs.

Funny thing? I've done Don't Stop and GYOW both in "D", for years. And I LOVE it, that they've finally dropped both to D(well, the last time I heard GYOW, Lindsey was doing it in D, and when we got to hear Christine in Hawaii, they were doing Don't Stop in D).

But for instance, I've tried dropping Journey's "Don't Stop Believing"(because who the hell can sing the high notes in E!?), and it just doesn't work. The minute you drop that piano part in key, it just SUCKS. It loses EVERYTHING, when you drop it from E.
But Don't Stop and GYOW still work pretty well in D. It just depends on the song, IMO.
