Default Fan Club Members can't resell tickets or they are banned!!

I recieved an email from the fan club stating that a fan club member CAN NOT resell their tickets or their membership will be terminated.

They are trying to stop scalpers BUT what about the people who buy tickets through the fan club, then get better seats closer to the date of the show and need to dump their crappy tickets? So I guess fan club members are supposed to "eat" the $275 they spent on tickets through the fan club! That just seems wrong.

Thumbs down Yeah, it's crap.

I just read that a few minutes ago too. On the one hand, they are TRYING to keep people from massively buying tickets and then reselling, but dang, you are right, what about people with EXTRA tickets or that get BETTER tickets (99.9999999% of the time. LOL)?

I mean, can they not use common sense in going on Ebay or whatever and turning in the people who are selling massive amounts of tickets?

Oh, this is crap!

One more reason that I will not frequent Mick's website give any more $$$ to that idiot Johnathan Todd.

This guy is a complete control freak. I thought he was supposed to have "special measures" in place to prevent scalpers from getting all the tickets.

This guy is a true picture of an idiot in action.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that the people over at "the site that shall not be named" have discovered that a member of the fan club is using some sort of program to get nearly all of the first four rows of seats during presale time from TM and then selling them on ebay. His name on ebay is minionofnothing, and it's also a problem for Tom Petty and Neil Young fans--they're looking into the matter as well. Quite a few people over there are up in arms about it, which if it's true, is definitely called for. The board administrators are looking into it, as they say... I hope I don't get my butt kicked here for just occasionally visiting that site (I don't post and am not registered to do so since I support all that's going on with seeknpeace to "bust" JT....)....

Default Old ways - still best?

Well how about the trick we used to get around scalping in the old days. Put ad up saying "For sale: #2 pencil $400 get 2 free front row tickets to Mac show on april 18th at Joe's Stadium with purchase." Thats how we use to do it.

I don't think it is fair to gobble up all the tickets, but I see nothing wrong with selling off one extra ticket if someone can't make it.

I am afraid there will always be insiders taking advantage of whatever is thought up. (How about Mac issuing another Live cd? Then more could hear them who can't afford tickets).

Just a thought.

So what about the thread they had over there where fans had spare tickets to sell? Has that been removed now? If the fan club delivered the great seats it originally promised then fans would have no need to sell them when they get better through the public sale.

Jonathan Todd is an idiot.... no actually that's an insult to idiots!

Also I don't know why they are only just sitting up and taking note about this scalper issue. It has been going on since the very first pre-sale. All of a sudden he is 'hopping mad'? This is just a last ditch attempt to make it seem like he has the fans interests at heart before his kingdom falls around his ears

*SCALPER CONTROLS – Change In Membership Rules:

The membership agreement to the Fan Club provides for changes and additions to Club rules and all members agree to accept such changes. Accordingly – to protect all members the following change is effective immediately:

“Tickets purchased through Fan Club programs are for personal use only and are not for resale. Violation of this policy is grounds for immediate termination without refund.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I recieved that too. I highly doubt that will deter any scalpers. The fanclub will not be monitoring eBay or independent broker websites to enforce it. As it is the so-called staff doesn't take the time to answer e-mails from members with questions/concerns/technical problems with the system. Yet again, sounds like the club is just issuing lip-service to protect itself.

Did they ever resolve the issue of people having their memberships hijacked if they happened to use a login identical to their message board names?

Perhaps they should add a "fan club tickets also may not be used to bribe members or pay off moderators" addendum, while they're at it .

Well, isn't this cute, here at the last hour, a stupid, insane effort to "thwart" scalping. Uh, one presale left? Maybe?

Ya'll remember WAAAAY back when we bought our memberships, we were told that there was scalping software in place to prevent scalpers? Remember that? Well, of course there was not.

Ya'll remember when we said to him, before the first sale, "hey, if our screen names are our "secret" passwords, won't that put our ticket allotment at risk?" Ya'll remember how he never, ever once answered that question?

Then, remember how over 100 names were stolen in the first presale and he did not change the passwords to be unique and not known? And, then how he said that he would change the passwords after the first presale? And he didn't?

And, how he said that he was changing the passwords before this last presale that we had? and he didn't? And, then he erased ALL mention of his stating that he would change the password from the site the nite before the last presale that he was supposed to have changed it for so that you would not know that he ONCE AGAIN, did not take care of the fans and this issue?

Now, you all tell me how forcing you to keep rotten tickets is gonna stop someone from using your allotment, or how it is gonna fix the problem. All that he has done is create a problem for members, for the ppl who are getting screwed over and over...what a prince.

This is so silly.

I'm still paying for the tickets, and I still paid for my Fan Club membership, so really...no one can stop me from selling my tickets, regardless of how I obtained them.

Oh, but, see, he says he can change the rules any old time that he pleases. He doesn't have to ask management, the band or God. It is ALL up to JT. But, remember, he cannot post a pic of Stevie without asking all the above, and it taking weeks and weeks, but, honey, let him want to do something, snap.

He really does make it up as he goes along. But this 'scalper control' really is too little too late. Absolutely pathetic.

Has he hired a full-time team of crackheads to crack down on anyone who may be reselling their tickets??? Most people who sell on ebay don't bother to mention that they are fan club seats, for one thing. Why doesn't he just go after all the ebay users who names are akin to "tickets4u," et al?????

"Personal use" has many definitions..."Personally, I no longer had a use for my crappy fan club tickets, so I sold them in order to regain my personal loss of my personal money." Possession is 9/10th of the law...

Exactly how would he know if someone were to sell their tickets? Unless the seller advertises the fact that the tickets were purchased via the pre-sale, there is no way to determine ownership. Quite honestly, who cares if you get booted out....exactly what would you be missing?

I truly feel for those who paid for the fan club. The "security" for the pre-sales was ridiculous. I mean, how hard is it to make up a screen name? That was the password? All you had to do was type in each band member's name until you got in.....for a man who is supposed to be the hot website guy he insulted everyone with that scheme.

Default Too little too late.

I posted this in the fan club thread too. Sorry to repeat myself but that thread seems to be kinda dead these days. I've just heard the latest noise from the fan club about reselling fan club tickets. So...the club's coming down on members who try to resell their club seats (becasue they suck and found better ones) all because of a single scalper suspected of being a hacker. This hacker/scalper is also supposed to be a club member, according to the club administration. He's gotten all the good front row fan club seats to most of the tour shows going back to the earliest show dates and the first pre-sale.

HELLO! Why's everyone up in arms about this at Mick's board now? Where was all this outrage when a bunch of us got booted from that board for complaining loudly about the first pre-sale? We specifically brought up this issue of scalpers and hackers getting people's passwords or knowing how to hack the system before other club members got in. We asked for an explanation of how the scalpers at eBay got all the good seats and why all the known club members got nothing but back of the floor. We got nothing but silence and the boot from the site administrators. Now the Knight says he's hopping mad. Why now?

Way back, when we questioned the process for selling fan club seats, he said there was software in place to prevent such happenings. We were told not to worry. We were shouted down by all the people who said we were malcontents. Now the tour is over and this stuff is just getting airplay? What's up with that?
