Yeah, Christine sold her catalogue but I don't know whether it was outright or just a 25 year right to the revenue. Someone here once said she had sold it for $150m.

I remember the fiasco over The Beatles catalogue being bought by Michael Jackson in the 80s. McCartney went nuts, but eventually the ownership reverted to the original owners, I think, by length of time. I don't know the terminology (I'm a trust lawyer, not an Intellectual Property specialist!).

Personally, I think if they just told her they were doing an album with or without her, she would cave. In any case, it's easy to say she has all the power, but it's only the power they willingly give her. If the songs never see the light of day just because Stevie isn't on board, it says more about their artisitic integrity than hers.
That would be the best possible outcome then he can tour it next year with his One Man Show!

She loves 'In Your Dreams' and it didn't sell millions.

Or maybe... just maybe... they don't want to put out an album without Stevie.

No. They recorded them because they wanted her on it. They are even recorded in her key. It was never the plan to record an FM album without her. It was a strategy to try to pull her over. A risk, that LB was aware of. She did not bow. The guys are NOT complaining, we are. Because WE are the victims of not having a full fleshed Fleetwood Mac album.

And I don't like that.

If Christine sold her publishing rights, she still gets songwriting royalties. Just like Lennon/McCartney have songwriting royalties, even though they lost publishing rights to Michael Jackson and Sony music (Sony loaned Jackson the money to buy the publishing rights).

So, Christine still would have 50% songwriting, even if she sold publishing.

Well, It's totally clear that they didn't want to do an album without her. They took a risk. We haven't heard lindsey or Mick complaining, but a lot of people over here state that she doesn't want to record. If That's So, she can Give them cart blanche to do whatever they want with it. But the boys are playing the game with her, in the hope she'll add something the coming year, So they can put it out.

I guess the good news is I don't think the other songs will never see the light of day. The only question is where will we get them, as an FM album or as an LB album. We have Mick and John on them anyway.

I understand what you're saying. I think, however, that they already have carte blanche to do whatever they wish with those remaining tracks -- with or without Stevie's blessing. They're not Fleetwood Mac songs, so I doubt that there are any ownership issues. They're Lindsey Buckingham songs, with Mick & John on them. As such, they could release them to iTunes tomorrow if they really wanted to.

Like you said, Gerald -- they took a risk. Who knows, maybe it will still pay off. Maybe it won't. But Stevie's not holding the songs for ransom (not that you implied that she is), and we'll get to hear them some day.

In the meantime (like what I did there? ), I wouldn't be surprised if Mick's been putting a bug in Christine's ear about these new songs of Lindsey's that are already largely finished.

It's interesting that Stevie finally decided that she was going to create a solo album for the sake of creation, regardless of how much it sold, but now seems to be back to those same old concerns about a new Mac record.

I wonder if she just simply finds working with Dave Stewart that much more enjoyable than working with Lindsey, despite them apparently getting along well?

I wonder how she would feel about recording a Buckingham Nicks II album.

Not So, stewie. These are FM songs. Lindsey recorded them with just one purpose: FM. He even recorded them with Stevie in mind singing onthem. That is something he's never done before. He has no plans putting them out as solowork. It's no solowork. For him. Even you can imagine that.

Yes. Ofcourse Mick has played the tracks for Chris.

Fair enough, for those that want a full-fleshed FM album (although some wouldn't consider the SYW four a full-fleshed Fleewtood Mac album; it would need Christine....and if they get her, Stevie won't hold anything up).

I just feel like it's the knee-jerk reaction to couch everything as Stevie's fault. Even some LB fans were on her case for delaying this tour by a year, which never made sense to me since it resulted in what was probably the best year ever to be a Lindsey fan. And a lot of people said they would be more than happy to attend a Men of Mac tour, which is something they certainly could have done if they wanted to, but there was no money to be made. (Money matters to more people than just Stevie.)

right, didn't she talk about wanting BN 2 and that's what she slated Without You for originally. and she wanted a small BN tour... some time in between the FM tour this year.
