I wouldn't necessarily say that they are doing it for money. Money is a big draw for doing the tour in the first place, but now that that's locked in, I think they want this to be a good tour experience, just for personal reasons. Unleashed was better than SYW emotionally, but it was kind of boring, to Stevie at least. I think they are trying to go in with a new dynamic this time and their vaunted chemistry is a part of the dynamic they're trying to play up. Michele |

^Unleashed was boring. And, at least this much is true: their chemistry is not contrived. I don't even think chemistry can be contrived. You either have it or you don't.

As for chemistry, you can't contrive it, but you can try and I think you actually lose chemistry when you do that, which is why I thought the Tusk dance was stupid and actually hard to watch. Michele |

I guess. I didn't see any SYW shows. But this goes back to performances & building on something that once was a real / organic / genuine / spontaneous display that happened in a show once and it got audience reaction and they built on it. I'm sure they even look for those moments. After 40 years or thereabouts does it become old hat and look that way? Sure. It's inevitable. It doesn't mean it's not still there, under the surface of facade.
Stevie recently has done the same in her appearances with Grohl. Sundance was awesome, then she begins looking for ways to emulate that lightning in a bottle. You can't really do it.

The thing about chemistry is that it's also somewhat subjective.
Two people might feel chemistry between each other but it might not be visible to anyone else, or maybe only to some. I can't tell you how many TV shows/movies I've watched where I've sat there completely bored and not believing it because the characters (or actors) had absolutely NO spark or chemistry to me, and yet there were other people who felt the exact opposite and raved on about the connection etc.

But I just cited that as an example of why I think you can try to create or present chemistry for display and fail miserably. Michele |

YES! I completely agree. I still find the first set of videos..with mistakes and *almost* or actually missing cues..to be the best. She hasn't matched the intensity of SDMHA since Sundance. I truly wish she would just let it happen..whatever that "it factor" may be. She's almost there, but I think there is still a fear of messing up in the back of her mind.

There is something that some people have together, where they share an entire dialogue without speaking and the other person makes you vulnerable or causes you to react in a way that reveals something inside you involuntarily and that's what chemistry is to me. Some people get softer and less guarded around another ("something in you brought out something in me") and it's not exactly a comfortable thing, because sometimes maybe you WANT the guard, the shield. So, being around the other person makes them feel more submissive or exposed or emotional than they want to be. It's very moving. Michele |

Lets not forget that these two know each other since they were what 16? I recently reconnected with an ex from when I was around 19 (about 30 years ago)....and let me tell you....sparks are there, good and bad...even though we are both wth diff people. Even our phone converstaions have a special edge! There is no denying a history between two people, and if they come out of it as friends even better. You cant fake emotion....though one can fake the "Tusk dance" LOL

I'm not going to question how much of it is real, but I do think a lot of it is embellished. A lot of it is for show, and I suspect there are some (Stevie and Mick) who enjoy that part of it more than others (Lindsey and the McVies), but they all have to do it on some level.

When they are fumbling with each other physically, I think it's because there's a certain self-consciousness and Stevie gets flustered. It's like when he first came to AHI, I think Stevie was genuinely excited and she just didn't know what to do with herself. She didn't know whether to walk across the stage to meet him or let him come all the way over or what. It was cute to watch. I think her intro was going to be, "What can I say about Lindsey Buckingham." But she started off: "what can I say? Can I say it yet?" It was hysterical. Maybe that's why they often rehearse interaction instead of letting things happen naturally, to avoid the fumbling -- which, to me, is more enchanting than the rote. Michele |

Maybe she could do something like that for Stephanie, where she might be on stage at the beginning and be part of the intro and they could use that song for Lindsey's dedication to whomever (Landslide being hers) and then she could recede to the side, while it's playing. Michele |
