In my life there's been a few things worth singing 'bout you
Well, I never even dreamed that I'd know you Strange are the ways of a very complicated world And there you are Come to me now and I'll never know another You are song for me, melody ingrained in my soul Sing, sing your song for my ears, they only hear you If I never knew the likes of you where would I be - without you? Without you, without you, without you If I'd not heard your laughter maybe I wouldn't love you If I'd not sung your music, I'd not come rolling after you Cryin' out loud, the time had come and gone without you inside me Love to be written about you Strange are the ways of a very complicated world And there you are Come to me now and I'll never know another You are song for me, melody ingrained in my soul Sing, sing your song for my ears, they only hear you If I never knew the likes of you - where would I be without you? Without you, without you, Without you

In my deepest heart, I believe that SnL would still be together if they hadn't joined FM. There is a big secret there - a BIG secret. I think that Lindsey and Stevie were both manipulated early on - whatever lies they were told they believed. I believe that they were very reactionary towards each other and those reactions just escalated the situation because their emotions were involved. I keep thinking back to that CAH book that I just read, according to her - he frequently used the word "safe" with her, almost as if it was an obsession. There is a reason for that, a man typically doesn't obsess over safety unless something has happened in the past, maybe even to someone else. Maybe Lindsey deep down blamed himself for the fact that Stevie got so involved in drugs. I don't know. But, I do know that there is a "there" there. And we may never learn the full truth. |

The other thing to note about their body language is how they mirror each other.

That's right! They do. I also noticed in a couple of the youtube clips of the IYD documentary that at one point Mick asked Stevie a question and she just straight out ignored him. I'm a psychiatric nurse and I detox people off drugs all the time (among patients with other problems) I have to watch body language as a part of my job. There is a shift in FM that has been going on for awhile. I would almost bet that SnL's anger fell away with some bit of information that was shared between them.

Stevie & Lindsey's body language has always fascinated me. I've read mirroring is common for couples - or for interested parties. Wouldn't think it would be common for exes. The other thing they do is use the same terminology a lot like you might do when you are consistent contact with someone. Of course, I'm sure that's so they can plan their public staged touching and revel in how much money they'll take in because of it. Maybe Lindsey's bunker is also a secret vault full of all the monies they have accumulated together in thier joint business ventures through the last 40 years! ![]()

also, he does love Stevie and all they've shared / how far they've travelled since their start in high school and whoever said the whole cycles remark (that Lindsey keeps repeating also), i think is very on the point. i think (besides the college fund for his kids and the thrill of performing for huge adoring crowds), wanting to some full circle and create with SN again is a big part of his wanting to still come back to FM from time to time.Quote:
actually Sound City Players appearance on Letterman yesterday got me thinking of something else - if FM releases some new music before they start a tour, they may get an appareance on Letterman or similar to promote both new music and the tour, which they wouldn't get if they only tour as an oldies / greatest hits band or from repackaging old music. they would not only be selling areans as similar dinasaur bands do, but actually look relevant in the process too.

claiming that general audience reactions are the same whether or not there's a chemistry between main players is ridicouluos and incorrect. i've read enough reviews about their shows mentioning a lack of "that famous chemistry" when there is none.
they know well that it's one of their selling points (as they keep mentioning), so of course they play it up. let's hope chemistry and some good performances and peace in the house is there for the tour too.

You know that scene in Mean Girls where the girl who 'doesn't even go here' is telling everyone that she just wants them to be happy and like bake rainbows or something weird like that.
I'm going to be that girl right now. I don't understand why we have to argue about this, if you don't like what goes on in a certain thread, just don't go there. I'm done.

I guess I kind of straddle the line. Here's my essay on the matter and then I don't think I'll have much else to say about it haha.
Obviously there are things they do that are planned and staged. I don't find it offensive that they stage their stage shows... most artists do. You'll find Dolly Parton reads the same stories off a teleprompter between songs night after night after night. It's just how things are done nowadays, for the most part. We should really be happy they don't have back-up dancers and that Stevie isn't doing choreography It'd be nice if everything were spontaneous and off the cuff, but the reality is that planning things ahead of times makes it so that they can ensure the shows aren't boring, so if they're having an off night they are still giving something to those watching. And yes, SnL stage interactions with each other specifically because they know the audience will enjoy that. I don't exactly love that this happens, but I accept it because I understand the reasoning. Wish it were different but I've come to terms with it I guess. However, I don't think every breath these people take and every word out of their mouth is scripted and rehearsed. To me, that's just as ridiculous as assuming that everything they do is 100% in the moment. They aren't robots. Do they want money? Probably. Do they need money? Probably not. Will holding hands during interviews get them more money? A negligible amount, if anything, honestly... Is anyone really going to watch this and go "Oh man, Stevie touched Lindsey's arm. I've gotta get tickets now." They'd get more publicity if it were MICK and Lindsey holding hands. Does it drum up interest? Sure, but only among people like us who are already nuts over the band anyway.Personally, I don't doubt that in the On The Red Carpet interview Lindsey grabbed Stevie's hand because he could tell Mick was about to talk to him. That makes sense to me to do in general, and I don't think that it necessarily means they had some kind of huddle before the interview where they strategically planned out the logistics of every answer and every interaction. The other moments seemed spontaneous to me. Of course it wouldn't appear natural to us, because it's not something we're used to seeing happen. So no, I personally don't entirely think that the hand holding itself was staged. The notion that they would focus on/play up their relationship - sure. And I think that probably is what opened the door for all of that stuff being done in the interviews. Saying they are 'old friends' is grossly oversimplifying their relationship - but in regards to these press PDA's, I'll suggest that it seems to me that the death of Stevie's mother really has shifted their dynamic a little bit and perhaps one of the reasons they seem to both be in a very sappy state of mind regarding each other. Maybe they are finally at a place where they feel ABLE to show genuine affection for each other without any underlying tension or contempt or whatever else may have been there in the past (and might still be there, but is being overlooked for the time behind - who knows). I'd imagine that would be nice for them at this point in their lives. Then again, I come from a touchy-feely family who holds hands and kisses all the time and stuff so I tend to have a different perspective on this kind of thing than a lot of others, I realize. And anyawys, I do think they are creepy, in a weird but sweet kind of way. It's not normal to do that naturally, and it's still quite odd to do it even if it was planned . But they aren't very normal people so I don't know why we would expect them to be. ![]() *phew* Just my opinion, obviously.

and, i definitely agree about touchy-feely thing. i don't know anything about SN, but LB is for sure a very touchy-feely guy, much more than you would expect, and from what i've seen he would fit in your definition above of how you describe people in your family behave.

UNLESS a certain person who was retired from the group participates in said appearance.

Lindsey and Stevie anticipate each other's movements and they always have. I think they do it because of the amount of time they spend together on the stage. That's what was always so fascinating about Angel is that Stevie was absolutely obsessed with whether Lindsey was coming to her mic or not. I don't know whether there were nights when he didn't, but he did when I saw them and on the clips we have, yet she can't stop looking at him to make sure he's coming. On stage, she always knows where he is. Today and yesterday. In the video from the old tour when she is steaming her face and he is crossing the room, she is so nervous about him crossing. She treks his entire path over there and he seems to go out of his way to cross behind her, when he could have exited another way. He does still make her nervous, even tongue-tied. On stage, she will stare him right to the ground and I don't mean during choreographed moments like Say Goodbye or when they turn their mics to each other in SYLM. I mean, she just spends lots of time looking at him in general and, at times, in those 1997 videos, for instance, he has still been infatuated with her. They share something real, but right now they are displaying something very fake. Michele |
