I know I quoted your post, I'msoAfraid95, but I didn't mean to sound like I was calling you to task. It was kind of you to apologize, though (not that one was needed).

Elle suggested I'm taking things too seriously, but it's honestly not that. I can take a joke as easily as anyone (although usually when you have to say that you can take a joke, it hurts your credibility!), and I certainly don't think that anyone is required to like 'In Your Dreams' or, for that matter, anything that Stevie's done -- but the collective theme of the comments had become off-putting. That's all I was trying to convey. If I were a more articulate man, I wouldn't have needed five posts to get my point across.

I apologize if my comments were offensive to anybody.
i really don't see how your comments could be offensive. and, it is really nice to have new young blood here!

meanwhile, making weird double digs at both LB and people who like his music while calling for peace and respect seems a bit counterproductive.

this is a very nice post.

you are definitely not the only one to get over-touchy over whoever our favorite musician on these boards may be, among others i was certainly guilty of the same many times i'm sure.

btw i've been curious for a while now - how did you choose your screen name here?

For the record, I already took responsibility for allowing my annoyance to color that comment. Also for the record, I'm someone who likes LB's music too.

I just saw this -- thanks, Elle. I appreciate that. You & I must have been typing our previous posts at the same time.

If I'm coming off as overly-touchy, though, then I'm still giving the wrong impression. A dozen "the entire album sucks," "the songs are all terrible," "there's someone else in the band who actually delivers" comments, and it had gotten old. Not because I'm being touchy, but simply because it seemed disrespectful to other fans. I'd feel the same way if Stevie fans were responding similarly to the 'Which SWS song' thread.

Oh well, I've said my piece now. Several times. lol.

From Lindsey's song, which has always been a favorite of mine. I initially used my real first name (Brian) on the original Ledge boards, but you couldn't register a screen-name and soon there were three or four "Brians" posting. To avoid confusion, I chose "Johnny Stew" and have used it ever since.

ah, no need to start the petition to have your screen name revoked then

Really.
I vote NO Stevie songs at all for this Mac tour. She's horrible. It should be ALL sexy Lindsey songs. Stevie can just stand behind the drum set the whole time.

Jesus.

I've been a Lindsey fan since that age. I gotta defend him . However, I do like Stevie and her mysteriousness.

I see what you're saying. There's always been Stevie v. Lindsey factions here, and everywhere in the fandom. I love 'em both the same (in different ways lol) and I think that the reason some LB fans are so aggressive about praising Lindsey at Stevie's expense is that they feel Stevie undeservedly gets more attention than LB and they are trying to compensate for that.

And hardcore LB fans, I can say that some of these comments, in jest or not, do come off as pretty divisive. Many quite overtly convey an "us vs them" mentality, not just one or two posts in this thread. It's all over the board. This is coming from one who is not regularly accused of oversensitivity, and who is a hardcore of BOTH.

Like I said, though, it's nothing new! SN hardcores can also get clique-y and make unflattering comparisons to LB; it's just not as aggressively done because there's no need to try to make up for a lack of external attention to their fave.

TY!

I think it's high time the us vs. them mentality stops. Like you, I am in neither catagory as I love them both, and Mac, of course! I've said for several years now (since about '97) I go to hear the BAND!

this is beautiful to read, that we can all say our piece and still enjoy the company and differing views.

Jamie, Nancy... we love you too!

Nancy - i always appreciate your leveled and thought through posts. i think your analysis is off though. if it feels that Lindsey fans have been louder around here that may be just because we are much fewer in numbers on this board so you probably see the same people a lot. but people just express how they feel. Jamie has many times all over these forums expressed she doesn't care for Lindsey and his music - which is completely fine. i don't see why Viv or i cannot say the same about Stevie and her music without someone feeling personally offended.

teasing each other about "competing teams" should really not be taken as anything else but good fun. how many times have i read around here "i'm team Stevie". but if someone jokes about "taking one for the team" and it happens to be a Lindsey fan that's somehow offensive?

but back to IYD songs - i actually like songs on IYD much more than many of the SN's songs i've heard before. and i really really want to hear a solo song from SWS on the upcoming tour so i think it's just fair to have IYD represented too. plus everybody keeps telling me i'll enjoy watching Lindsey fooling around during SN solo song so i'm looking forward to it and trying to pick a song that will be most conducive to it.

just my opinion.
