It looks like Rhino is now re-releasing the Fleetwood Mac (White) album on Feb. 19. No info if it contains anything different or if it is truly remastered.

But if it's just a remaster with extras that are better than the ones they sold to us a few years ago, I'm so weary of them I don't know what to do. Michele |

What are Rhino or Rhino Flashback think they're playing at? First, we get a re-issue of Rumours, when we already had a quite satisfactory re-issue in 2004. Now the same goes for the 1975 Fleetwood Mac album.
How about a complete overhaul of the Fleetwood Mac back-catalogue that's yet to see any remastering or expansion. I've made a list below of the complete back-catalogue and marked in capital letters the albums that need the remastering and expanding they all deserve: Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac - Remastered & Expanded by Sony in 2004 Mr. Wonderful - Remastered & Expanded by Sony in 2004 These first two albums were released on the old CBS label, which now comes under Sony Music. Both these albums were remastered with bonus tracks in 2004. I believe the rest of the catalogue to this day is owned by Warner/Rhino: Then Play On - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Kiln House - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Future Games - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Bare Trees - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Penguin - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Mystery To Me - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Heroes Are Hard To Find - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Fleetwood Mac - Remastered & Expanded by Rhino/Warner in 2004 Rumours - Remastered & Expanded by Rhino/Warner in 2004 Tusk - Remastered & Expanded by Rhino/Warner in 2004 Live - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Mirage - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Tango In The Night - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING Behind The Mask - NEEDS REMASTERING & EXPANDING That's 16 albums in the back-catalogue up until 1990 and only 5 of them have had a decent upgrade. I'm a strong believer in treating all albums equally when it comes to catalogue marketing. Come on Warner, pull yourself together and give all these albums the respect they deserve! From a money making stand point, I can see why Warners would not do a reissue of say Heroes, however there are still die hard fans pre-BN that may spend a little on a package deal like Future Games and Bare Trees; Penguin and MTM, etc. |

I'm only talking about the original albums and not box sets. That was classed as a compilation. The title you mentioned is a 6CD set and was only released in 1999, so I don't think they could improve on that.
I think alot of this is down to what record label an artist is on. I've noticed through the years that certain record companies are more committed to remastering their artist's back-catalogue than others. Warner isn't a great one for remastering their albums. Sony, on the other hand are very good at looking after an artist's back-catalogue without giving superiority to one album over the rest. Alot of their back-catalogue is released under their Sony Legacy label. Seeing as Fleetwood Mac were with CBS for the first two albums (who now come under Sony), it makes me wonder what would've happened if they had stayed with CBS throughout their career. I bet you any money that the whole FM back-catalogue would've been remastered & expanded at least six or seven years ago if they had remained under what is now "Sony Music", especially as it's as popular as Fleetwood Mac. |

Rhino Flashback is "value line" meant to sell cheaper so that old titles will sell again. Warner Bros. is basically taking advantage of the upcoming tour to boost sales of Fleetwood Mac's old catalog. So the upcoming Mac releases aren't new remasters in the sense that engineers went back into the studio to tweak the sound of the original recordings.

I know petitions don't work.
I'd still like to find a way to nag WB with requests for a Mirage remaster.
