Also, I have to mention that I felt this article was pretty terribly written and also had tons of obvious spelling errors (several of which I fixed when I copied it to this thread).

Probably because when they're on tour, they don't want to tell you they're having a horrible time because why would anyone want to go see them if that was the case?

I think moreso the insinuation this time around has been that Unleashed just wasn't very fun or exciting - they did the same easy boring thing every night. She and Lindsey apparently weren't interested enough in each other to portray any tension or drama or affection. I think that's what she's getting at with the grilled cheese statement: that was the extent of their conversations. Nothing terribly emotional was going on either way (good or bad), it was very casual, which led to it being kind of a drag and just "going through the motions."

I don't think they are giving themselves enough time to rehearse a completely different show. It usually takes them 3 months to put together the same ole same ole and now she expects you to believe that in 2 months it'll be something new and exciting? Somewhere down the line I predict she will tell reporters that this and that didn't work well in rehearsals and there wasn't enough time, yadda yadda yadda. Another thing that has ALWAYS annoyed me about Stevie and Lindsey is every time they release a new album they claim it's the best they've ever done.

I think the men of FM and the entire backup band thoroughly enjoyed the Unleashed Tour. Stevie seems to be a hard cookie to please and she is the one complaining how fun it wasn't. Frankly this is something I will never, ever understand. How bad can it be traveling first class on a private plane, limo's to take you to the best hotel's in the world, thousands of people falling at your feet in adoration and singing your favorite songs onstage every night? It's exhausting, because she has found so many things to complain about her entire career.
Sometimes I wish she would be forced to travel with an up and coming band for a year to plant her feet back in reality. I'm sure she might then appreciate how good she's got it. Rant over.

It is frustrating as all get out - I feel just as frustrated about their attitudes on albums. In some recent interview Stevie had said something to the effect that her feelings were hurt by those not wanting to hear Dreams and other hits. Well you know what Stevie, you hurt my feelings by dissing SYW. I happen to like the album quite a lot

I'm also quite nervous by what "a very different Fleetwood Mac" means... It could be very good, but that phrasing makes me uneasy for some reason. Don't go a changin (too much) to try to please me! (Stevie has put me in a lyrical mood )

They need to get their butts in gear! Hopefully they will begin sometime this month and not wait till February.
I feel the same about how they both think whatever is the latest is the greatest. Especially her comments about IYD being her best record...I love it a lot! But again, I think those comments have more to do with her being happier now (hopefully) than she was when making Bella Donna. She also said Lindsey's SWS was some his best or the best, I can't recall. These drama queens and their hyperbole.

I think it's enough to time to rehearse whatever they decide they want to play. When Stevie did her Wiltern show, she included eight IYD songs, and with the Rod tour, press and publicity for the album's release, and having pneumonia, she couldn't have had that much time to put the show together.

I don't see where she suggests any such thing about Unleashed. She does make it sound like they may be a little more inspired for this tour, which hopefully is going to translate into some new songs in the setlist, but I didn't get the feeling that the last tour was miserable. Even the "going through the motions" comment was the writer's, not hers.

Ugggh this topic of SN being "bored" with Unleashed and going through the motions has me in an upset.

Yes I saw Unleashed, and I agree, Stevie was not all present except for SB and GDW, even Storms was a delight, but a somber misstep.

I've come to expect a FM tour to be all Mc/Vie and LB with Stevie as a back-up/harmony player. That is fine with me if the rest of the band put on a hell of a show. (lowered expectations? I guess). But I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought the tix.

My frustration stems from Stevie (in interviews) always gong-ho and talking the tour up as an amazing "never before seen performance" and then gets on stage to perform just so-so.
If she's going to promise the goods, she better back it up.

She is still capable of delivering the goods (via her last cpl of tours and Soundstage). My advice to SN: put the $ where your mouth is, or just shut up in interviews.

Sorry for my lil rant. Just had to get that out.

Those are the rules..... you hype the hell out of whatever endeavor you are selling-- be it tour, album, etc. it's "fabulous" "the most exciting thing we've ever done" "the best we've ever done" "like nothing we've ever done before" blah blah blah. It doesn't matter who the band or artist is, it's just the expected thing you must say. The trick is to not get suckered into believing it everytime they come out and say it. Who knows what the next tour will be like, but you can count on one thing-- they sure as hell aren't going to tell you upfront!

And I hate when artists -- not just FM, but others too -- try to promote an album by likening it to an iconic one. "I never felt this way about an album since Rumours." I got the same chills I did when recording Thriller. Well, good for you. Put on a sweater, this ain't Thriller.

To be fair, I don't think anyone (Stevie, Lindsey or other band members) ever said Mirage, Tango, BTM or Time was the best thing they'd ever done. Also for UTS Lindsey kind of apologized like he knew that people might pick it up and not get what they expected, so he kept emphasizing it was different and something he'd been playing around a lot with lately, rather than that it was the best.
