It got a lot of airplay where I live too. So did "Nightbird." I had those pegged as bigger hits than they were at the national level.

I think what turns me off is her more nasally tone on the song, to me it just begs for a soft, mysterious intro, something in the vein that she sings Moonlight. That said, it is such a well written song and is no doubt an epic title track, the "run through the grass" part I think is better, and boy, what powerful lyrics.

I love Sable on Blonde too. It has great harmonies and great beat. The song is very unique and it pulls you in.

My two favorites are Wild Heart and TISL, they alternate for "favorite" spot.

Next up are Bella Donna / Street Angel / In Your Dreams. All these albums are good except for one to three songs on each.

Finally, Rock a Little and TOSOTM are at the bottom. Both sound dated and I only like about half the songs on each. TOSOTM in particular is something of a murky mess.

I've been hashing this out in my mind for days, and I've come to the conclusion I really don't have a favorite. I can't say any one album is profoundly stronger or weaker than another. They all have their classic songs and complete duds, pretty much at the same ratio. I definitely like Wild Heart the very least, and never listen to it. But that's not to say it's a bad album... it's just not to my tastes. Depending on my mood and what's happening in my life, I enjoy each Stevie album at different times. A couple of times a year I think the airy fairyness of Other Side Of The Mirror is amazing, and I can't stop listening to it... but most of the time I stay away from it. For that matter, I really don't listen to Stevie's solo albums that often at all these days... I'm really more of a fan of her music within Fleetwood Mac. And I'm honestly pretty burned out on the Mac as well. I badly need new music from these folks... I fear my attention span is finally waning after all this time.

I am also much more a Stevie FM fan than a Stevie solo fan. And I also find myself listening less and less to my FM and Stevie collection, my interest is flickering. Too many years of too little new material, I think.

I'm somewhat on the same page as Louie and Mitzo, being more of a Stevie fan within the awesomeness of Fleetwood Mac; something about the combo of Fleetwood and McVie that bring her songs to life. That said in the grand scheme of things her output with the band doesn't match the potential it had over the years, another album between Mirage and Tango for example, more songs on both albums etc. What has kept me intrigued were the solo efforts by both in the last couple of years, both were strong albums and showed much promise for a new Mac project. I'm very disappointed they chose the long road trek vs creativity, they can't possibly need that much money at their age, but who knows. I've said many times that this 35 plus year fan is sitting this tour out and I never in a million years thought I say that.

Ditto to all. I am also sitting out this tour even though they will be playing just a few miles from my house.

Wow, seems we have a concenses here, I, too love some Stevie albums, but enjoy her work with the Mac even more.

What is it about this core (5) people that bring out the best in one another?

I was just thinking about this the other day. My interest is waning too, even though, I have really liked Stevie and Lindsey's last solo albums. I think they are ending their careers on a high note, but I'm waiting for something to keep more interested.

I would love Stevie to finally record Three Birds of Rhiannon and a few others before she quits but I don't think she ever will. I think Lindsey may have a few suprises in him.

These lists are always hard but I think this is my Top LP list:

1/Bella Donna/Wild Heart ( I go back & forth between the 2 really I love each of them for different reasons though) I love BD cause its the start of her solo career and all the beautiful pics --with the Blue Lamp--but after hearing all of the alternates and outtakes I do like some of those versions better than the offical release I have to say. Now WH I love the LP cover cause its just so different the 3 different Stevie's I also loved her voice on this & BD of course I do like some of the songs that are left off esp 'All The Beautiful Worlds ' which I think fit in with WH. Not crazy about 'I Will Run To You' with TP probably my least favorite song on the LP.(TIED)
2/ Other Side Of The Mirror: this one will always be special to me for it was when I started to collect Stevie/Mac stuff so I recall when the LP came out and all the interviews and getting the 12" singles etc I do like most of the LP though it gets a bad rap probably my least favorite song is 'Two Kinds of Love'. I do think the picture on the Tourbook is better than the LP cover they used--also Long Way To Go should've been performed 'live' during that tour cause I love that song esp when I'm angry!!
3/Rock A Little : though I do have alot of issues with this LP not consistent enough--too many producers. I like some things than some songs are just fillers for me not enough substance ( like Sister Honey/Imperial Hotel) though I know alot of people like those. I do like more of the songs left off the record than what was on it or the different versions that we have like Mirror,Mirror or She Loves Him Still etc.....same with the outtake photos too much better than what was chosen.
4/TISL: though I could probably go back & forth with RAL too its more cohevise than the RAL LP but I do like (again) the demo's/outtakes better than the polished version thats released. Plus again the outtake photos are much better than the photo chosen esp the picture with the flowers where you can see Stevie's face that should've been the LP cover heck at least they should've been in the tourbook. Those kinda things that we don't get I'll not ever understand really.
5/Street Angel: I do like this LP esp Blue Denim but again some songs are better in demo/outtakes than what was released. Don't like the Listen to the Rain version loved the original 91 version the way the lyrics were than can't be beat. The tour was great it was my first time to see Stevie 'Live' solo tour so it'll always hold that special place in my heart will never forget it. She ROCKED it out.....
6/ guess I'll have to put IYD here cause well to be honest I've only listed to it once....call me bad but well my mom was ill for sometime so listen to things hasn't been much of a priority--so its only here cause of that . It is nice and all but well I don't like Stevie's voice as much and I don't like the change to "Lady from the Mountian' in Moonlight song. I do like 'Ghosts Are Gone'...I am happy she got it out there but well I'm not sure it'll ever compare to the previous LP's but thats IMO only.

There are only 3 Complete Stevie solo albums that I can give thumbs up to:

1. Bella Donna - perfect

2. In Your Dreams - great variety, all the songs work, best voice since early 80s. Covers sooo much musical ground. Complaint - 6 songs run tooo long, could of been tighter. Has a great flow.

3. The Wild Heart - so many catchy songs on here, great work throughout. Some songs are just classics. Complaints - her most dated album because of synthnopop. The lyrics show laziness and seem insubstantial on a lot of songs, but melodies and the epicness make up for it. Does not flow well.

I don't think any of her other albums work as a whole.

You really think The Wild Heart is more dated than Rock a Little? Or even Other Side of the Mirror?

I agree that the synths date it. I just don't think it's her MOST dated.

Well, I think so. Yeah, It's totally dated. I remember listening to the cassette in 1989 thinking about how dated it sounded. Rock a Little stands up way better, particularlly because of some of the real piano songs and production. HasAnyoneEvery Written helps a lot. The songwriting was terrible. The Other side of the Mirror was disaster. How can I rate that album. It was an embarrassment.

I said there are only 3 complete albums I like.
