Default why didn't stevie have lindsay produce any of her solo albums?

If i remember correctly didn't stevie say that lindsay was the best person for her fleetwood mac songs so i was just curious why she never brought him in to do one of her solo albums?

Because he rejected her attempt to thank him after Belladonna. Plus that love to hate each other Thang they got might would have gotten in the way.

I think it's pretty obvious how strange that would have been to produce, say, Bella Donna. But what about other records? Could we entertain the idea? You have to think of their relationship at the time...the band...where each artist was at mentally. I wonder, would producing a couple of tracks for TISL have been out of the question? Stevie did have producers she really liked then (and with IYD) so I would assume she wouldn't even think of or need Lindsey to help. But these later on albums, I can see this being a tad more realistic. But if they're working together, my mind starts to wonder: why not just make it a Fleetwood Mac album?

Stevie & Lindsey have been very competitive with each other over the years --especially in the '80s. So for the first half of her solo career, to ask Lindsey to produce an album would have seemed like an admittance that she needed his help (and she certainly didn't). And in more recent times -- as nailatixela pointed out -- if Lindsey's producing Stevie's music, they might as well just make it a Fleetwood Mac album.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Stevie had asked Mick to ask Lindsey if he'd be interested in producing TISL, either before or after they did Twisted together.

Or why not just make it a Buckingham/Nicks album?

If Lindsey were to produce her it wouldn't sound that much different from her Fleetwood Mac stuff. Also I don't think Lindsey would have been that receptive to the idea. I don't think he'd like taking direction from Stevie.

If this is in fact true, which I could sooo see as being the case, how grade school! Haha, aww - "Mick can you ask him? But don't tell him it was me who said it!"

She should have let him produce Street Angel. I am curious what he could have done with those songs. During that time she needed a strong "take charge" producer...... He wouldn't have let her release the disaster that Thom Panunzio did. Panunzio is the worse producer she has ever worked with....it's almost like he was trying to sabotage here...

From Wiki -----
Originally, the album was produced by Glyn Johns and was ready for release in February 1993, with "Unconditional Love" as the first promo single.

The album suffered further as Nicks spent her second stint in drug rehabilitation (for Klonopin dependency) during the mixing and mastering period. The record label rushed the production so Nicks would be ready to promote the album once out of rehab, but this meant that she had no input into the overall sound or tracklisting of the album - these duties were overseen by co-producer Thom Panunzio, who had previously worked with Nicks' close friend Tom Petty. On coming out of rehab, Nicks returned to the studio (without Johns) to overdub and re-record a lot of what had already been done.

Despite her efforts, the album did not turn out how she wanted.

he would have brought in Mick to play drums ... then he would have called Christine to do back ground vocals , and he would have done the lead and rhythm guitars ...and she'd have a Mac album ... isn't that how Christine's cover of Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling In Love was done ....

If I remember correctly, it was "Twisted" that Stevie asked Mick to ask Lindsey to produce (just writing that sentence makes me feel like I'm in grade school! lol).

This was, of course, in '96 when the band members were taking the first steps towards reconciling with each other. So Stevie may have been feeling a little timid regarding Lindsey.

Actually, if it's the album's production you don't care for, Thom Panunzio really can't be blamed for that.

Glyn Johns was the original producer, and he did have a "take-charge" attitude. According to Stevie, the original mixes -- at Johns' insistence -- featured no percussion. Johns also allegedly insisted that Waddy not play on the album ("I was told that the last thing that I would need was Waddy Wachtel"). Stevie has said that Johns knew that she didn't care for what he was doing with the production work, but that she was basically told to "shut up and deal with it."

Once recording was finished and Glyn Johns returned to England (and once Stevie was out of rehab for her Klonopin addiction), she and Thom Panunzio went back into the studio. They opened up the mixes, brought Waddy in to add guitars, and Peter Michael to add percussion, etc. Stevie felt that the album still didn't sound exactly the way she wanted, but that it was ultimately time to call it "finished" and release what they had.
