I've been wondering about that, because on the surface it does sound contradictory. But, what if it's not really?

When she says, at any given time, "we're getting along better than we have in years," it could very well be the truth -- at that point in time.

The 'Say You Will' tour, by all accounts, was tumultuous. So by the time 2009 and the 'Unleashed' tour came around, their personal dynamic -- while still imperfect -- could very well have felt better to her by comparison. But then perhaps things deteriorated over the course of the tour.

We always get a flurry of interviews at the outset of every tour, but little-to-nothing from the middle of the tour or directly after. So we hear the "everything's great/we're all so happy" stuff at the beginning, but not the "we've been on the road for three months now and [insert Lindsey or Stevie's name here] is being a royal pain in the ass."
