Yeah...I just think this may all go up in flames....She is going to get tired of him maybe implicating that she's sad and her life is just an empty fantasy. He just strikes me as being so condescending towards her in these recent interviews. Killing her with kindness. If they had so much fun together? Why the backhanded criticism?
I always sense that he thinks he is so much smarter, deeper, and righteous than her. It may be silly to him but he knows how serious her life is to her. Who's obcessing over who??
Which is a nice luxury for him after so many hours at the shrink.
I'm glad he has gotten to have it all (family). I not intending to bash Lindsey per se.... just an observation...thinking out loud.

Stevie has always been Stevie her life and choices have been her own, her emotions rule her life and I think shes happy and in a good place.

I have to say, I don't think Lindsey's doing much good in the long run with these kind of statements. But then, I'm not Stevie, so maybe she won't care. I mean, I'm glad that he's being honest about what has been going on from his perspective, because I want him to be happy and of course, as a fan, I like to know what the deal is rather than just a bunch of empty promises... but like you said, it kind of feels like he's just complaining about her to the press and then putting "but she does everything from her heart" at the end of it to make it seem less cold. I love Lindsey, and I appreciate that he is frustrated with regards to the mindset Stevie went into the FM game with, and as someone who wants new FM music, it upsets me too... but I just get bad vibes from this all around. Especially since she's been rambling on about how wonderful their lives are (sorry - their life is) and how if it weren't for their ~journey together then they wouldn't be living the way they do now, etc. So although he's being honest and truthful, it comes off a bit negatively and I'm just worried that it's going to cause tension, basically.


So in short: Lindsey, couldn't you just lie and pretend that Stevie was awesome and that all of her ideas make sense so that she would be happy with you and you could coerce her into recording/ the rest of the tour would be joyous and wonderful for everyone?

I do remember that quote now. Although I'm surprised anyone actually took it with more than a grain of salt. She is the Reigning Queen of Rock & Roll Hyperbole, you know.

Wow that rolling stone interview with lindsey was the best interview ever by either him or Stevie.

What I can't understand about Stevie is why we don't have any material about what's on her mind these days. I loved IYD. It's a ten out of ten but I was expecting song titles and subject matter like:

Music Theives
Put Your phone down
You make the studio fun (about Dave Stewart)
you don't make the studio fun (about LB)
Australian Winter
Trouble in social media la

And of course the album closer

has anyone ever written anything for you that you didn't hear because no one listens to new music nowadays anyway so what's the point

RE: Stevie's songs (or poems) - she and Lindsey both have said she already has a melody, she doesn't need him to write the music.

So, maybe she hasn't taken the time to sit down and do that - put music to her poems. We don't really know and arguing over Lindsey and Stevie's prolificness is useless.

I took the BN quote more seriously because it was the beginning of Stevie moving towards working with Lindsey as a duo again and talking about re-releasing BN. She still is promoting SA as "the most BN we have been since 1973."

But, maybe Stevie sees now that they don't need to rent a house in Wales since she loves Lindsey's house so much.

I'm excited to see them in NYC this year, but these interviews are so childish and self absorbed. It really turns me off.

The drama may have still been cute in 1997, but in 2013, when you are all in your mid-sixties, it really seems very immature.

I remember watching videos of the Q&A's after the 3.5 IYD screenings and I recalled two interesting things:

1. When asked if she was going to continue to promote IYD with more screenings and DVD signings she said she really hoped to because Fleetwood Mac wont start up until January, giving her Nov and Dec to continue to promote IYD. Then, a couple weeks later at the Breaking Dawn premiere, she said the time with IYD was done. What happened in those couple weeks? Did her management get a hold of her and convince her that IYD was indeed done after a mere 3.5 screenings?

2. I remember another question was asked about her getting back together with FM and she said she was, but her body language definitely showed a sort of reluctance and she seemed less than thrilled about that. I wish I remembered what video it was so I can show you guys, but I'm betting some of you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, it kind of made me feel like if Stevie isn't even excited about going back to the Mac why should I be? I mean, I do plan on going to a show, if only because I missed out on seeing her in 2012. I kind of just have a bad taste in my mouth about this FM thing.

I think this is a perfect and on point observation. I just think it is hard on both of them still, or maybe not hard but I think they still have a little bit of animosity towards each other because of the past relationship, Lindsey because of Stevie's solo success, and Stevie because Lindsey did not support or want to have anything to do with her solo success at the beginning. She even mentioned that she left him a copy of Bella Donna at his door, and he just left it there.

Just because they are famous, doesn't mean they are not going to have the same emotions that all of us have, and the same dramas. BUT, without that drama from both of the drama queens (L & S) we wouldn't have a great catalog of music from the both of them. Their feelings towards each other have really been the fuel to write to great songs.

So........I guess what I am trying to see is that I don't want them to be too much in harmony...because of that happens, we won't get those amazing glares on stage, or the backhanded comments. We fans love all of their drama...and THEY KNOW IT!!! lol.

I get what you're saying. But, she always knew FM was coming so I don't think her reluctance or whatever that was we picked up on in the video you're referring to was because of that part. It must be the other things - the album talk, label issues, or even her newfound desire to acknowledge BN - because Stevie always says "you NEVER break up your band." And even in the video after she was like "Yeah,yeah FM. Whatever." She immediately followed it up with "but that's good - that's always good."

I know you're disappointed about IYD - and with good reason. But, hang on. I think we're going to get it all. (Fingers crossed).

Welp, I guess Rolling Stone is still doing their job stirring conversation! It's funny because I just don't take any of their interviews all that srsly. Depending on when they're being interviewed, where, how much sleep they got lol, etc. you're going to read different tones into their answers. I do see a change in Stevie since some of the IYD interviews a month or so ago; she seems much more positive about the tour etc. I think that's good; and I think that might have to do with these amazing, fun dinners at Lindsey's On the other side, I can't see how Lindsey is being so horrible. They both say outrageous things sometimes, sometimes very flippant. I don't think either of them, at least these days, are trying to be purposefully vindictive or condescending. This certainly is a fascinating band, lots of drama from the players and the fans Ultimately, I think we're all going to be very pleased with what will be coming in the future from our band However that takes form - solo, duo, band - things are happening and that's cool

Stevie Nicks dishes on new and old work with Lindsey Buckingham

Some of the most exciting news to come out of a conversation with Stevie Nicks on Monday was when she discussed a recent studio session with fellow Fleetwood Mac member and longtime collaborator Lindsey Buckingham. The two will join Mick Fleetwood and John McVie to resurrect Fleetwood Mac for a 2013 tour, but they have a history that extends long before they joined Mac in 1975.

The pair recorded one gorgeous, self-titled record in 1973 as Buckingham Nicks, and it was this work that prompted Fleetwood, McVie and then-keyboardist Christine McVie to ask them to join Fleetwood Mac. The rest is (a tangled, romantically complicated) history.

Jump to early 2012, when -- as Nicks calls them -- "the boys" in Fleetwood Mac got together to work on new material. Nicks had just lost her mother to pneumonia, then contracted the virus herself, and was unable to join them. The three soldiered on, with Buckingham writing two songs specifically for Nicks. A few weeks ago she heard those rough tracks for the first time.

“I went up to Lindsey’s house, he played me all of the songs, and we chose two," Nicks said on Monday. "He said, ‘I really tried hard to be you, to really see through your eyes when we were doing these songs, and make these songs that you would really like, and that you would really relate to.’"

She says the process was quite different than the last time they collaborated in 2002 for “Say You Will” because Buckingham and Nicks weren’t in a professional studio this time. “We were in his house where his wife and children are,” she said. “We had dinner with his family every night, and it was a whole other deal. We spent half the time working on these two songs, and the other half of the time we spent talking about our life, going all the way back to the beginning, to 1966 when we first met in high school, when he was a junior and I was a senior.

“We laughed and laughed and laughed about all the crazy things that have happened to us,” she said, describing the interactions as “a very cathartic time, and a very healing time, I think. And the songs came out great."

Nicks said the two songs are called "Sad Angels" and "Miss Fantasy," and will be available in the months leading up to the tour. "The words are very interesting, and the melodies are great, and it’s like they did go back to a time long ago. I think the world will be very taken with these songs."

As far as another full-length album, Nicks was more tentative. "We’ll just see," she said. "If the world loves them, then we have something to gauge what’s going on as far as Fleetwood Mac goes. And then at that point we record two more songs. So we don’t have to record a 14-song album, but are putting out some consistent product.'

Die-hard fans will be excited to know that the pair also dug further into their past by recording an unreleased song by their pre-Mac duo Buckingham Nicks that Nicks discovered in her archives. "Neither of the two of us can figure out why the heck it didn’t go on the 'Buckingham Nicks' record," she said. "Maybe it was the last song and there wasn’t room. We don’t know, but we recorded it, and it came out great."

Nicks' hope is that it will see release as part of a CD reissue in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of "Buckingham Nicks." The album has never been reissued either on CD or digitally.

Alas, that milestone will likely be overshadowed by a bigger one -- and one reason for the reunion: the 35th anniversary of "Rumours," which will be marked with a new deluxe reissue featuring outtakes that will arrive in 2013.

I just came across this, as well:

"These songs sound like they're 30," Stevie Nicks tells Billboard. "It blows my mind. Because we've never stopped, our voices and everything"

So she must think that these songs sounds like early-Fleetwood Mac stuff.

Lindsey knows why that song wasn't on the Buckingham Nicks album. He said that Stevie wrote it shortly AFTER they recorded BN, because they thought there may be a second album for them.
