I don't know why they would get that impression, at all. I've hardly seen people flooding the boards or attending their concerts with signs saying "No new music, ever! Just the same songs we've heard over and over for the past 30 years please!"

Really, though. What.
ok, i know i keep saying this but i don't know why so many people seem to think that what Stevie says SHE thinks is also what Lindsey thinks?

remember, Lindsey was out touring and meeting quite a few fans this year? he said over and over in interviews and conversations with fans that he wants new FM album and/or he wants to put new FM music out, in whichever way possible. Stevie even mentioned that in few interviews (although she says she has convinced him that's a bad idea... frankly i don't think he's that convinced ). why is nobody listening to what Lindsey actually says and everybody putting Stevie's words in his mouth is just really puzzling to me.

i do agree with people who are saying that it's the label holding them back. we all know they won't make money from selling albums or new music. (i wonder whether they'll put out that first track just for free as a download like Lindsey did with title track of SWS?)

now if the tour doesn't sell, that will be a problem. i hope for them it does, but who knows considering the info about sales for some other acts...

Thats great.Radio probably stick it in the trash like they did with her IYD CD.
I hope it will get some airplay like Peace Keeper and SYW did in 2003.

I'm not putting words into Lindsey's moth. I think that because Lindsey himself said it.

Quote:
But the guitarist and singer knows that new music isn't a priority for the band's fans.

"It wouldn't matter if they didn't hear anything new. In a way there's a freedom to that — it becomes not what you got, but what you do with what you got. Part of the challenge of this tour is figuring out a presentation that has some twists and turns to it without having a full album," he said.

And I mentioned the part about Stevie's opinions rubbing off on him because, like you said, I think at one point Lindsey did want to do new music, but she may have (unfortunately) convinced him otherwise.

yes, that one point was 2 weeks ago, from what i've heard.

read her newest interview, she said they'll put out 2 songs, and then 2 more if the first 2 go over well, and then maybe more. seems like he may have done some convincing of his own

I'd also like to point out that there's a difference between wanting to record new music, and thinking that people want to hear said new music.

agree. didn't SN said that LB told her he wants to put out new music because fans will know that they care? or something like that?

Default to be released on itunes (again)?

what's wrong with amazon, people??

"We wanted to have something to put out before we go out, January or February, in whatever way you do that -- iTunes or something," explains Nicks, who says she herself doesn't own a computer or spend time on the Internet. "And since nobody really cares about albums anymore, if you can come up with two or three great songs and just put them out there...people can at least hear how we sound today when it comes to actually recording."

Okay, they've been asked about new music in literally every single one of these interviews. I mean, I'm sure the interviewers were given direction...

but... OBVIOUSLY people care about albums.

Adele's '21' didn't sell 10 million copies because no one cares about albums. I mean, your odds of having a '21' (or another 'Rumours') are slim to none... but they're being so dramatic about it all. Just because you aren't going to sell 6 million copies doesn't mean no one cares about albums.

That said, I'd be quite content with and actually thrilled about getting a few songs from them on iTunes. I'll take what I can get.

The point is they can't sell the numbers it would take to make money. You can't make money (any significant money) on recorded music. Joe Walsh said the same thing recently on the Daryl Hall show - no one can make any money at it anymore & the younger generation will have to figure out what to do about it.

Another Rumours??? Ok, Rumours is my favorite album, but enough is enough. More outttakes from the Rumours sessions?
I think they have forgotten their other albums. Tango, Mirage (never re-released), the White. and of course Tusk. Sure there are also live recordings from the Tusk or Mirage tours not included in the 1980 Live album. But noooooo... it has to be.. RUMOURS!!!

It so ironic when I read Mick's book about his thoughts during 1978:

Fleetwood Mac now found itself whipped by backlash of all stripes. First there was the general backlash that perennially affects rock music's biggest acts. Ask Michael Jackson, Madonna, U2, Bruce Springsteen. How do you follow, let alone top, the best work you've ever done in your life, work that almost killed you to complete?

I guess they never asked anybody

I'm pretty convinced this is Stevie's point of view. Why the heck did Lindsey spent 6 weeks of recording 8 new tracks with Mick and John? To release two of them?......

Hence why I said Stevie's opinion rubbed off on him... Lindsey just recently said himself that the fan's wouldn't care if they never released any new music. It's quoted somewhere in the press thread.

not this again. as you know well he was interviewed few times in the last week and said he really really wants to release a new FM album. so no SN opinions rubbed off on him. if anything he's giving these candid interviews to try to change her mind.

Oh, really? The man's saying things like "traumatic splendor", writing about angels and trying hard to be her -- but her opinions haven't rubbed off him?? LOL.
