I know she said Rumours. She always has. As long as she says Tusk too (even though her songs on Tusk weren't outstanding), I am fine with it. I don't care about her third pick. HAHTF or MTM are great.

Ha! I'm disappointed. Lindsey likes to say that they all told him it was their favorite album in recent years. I would venture to say that only Mick and Stevie have told him this -- and Stevie didn't even actually say that, exactly. She said positive stuff about Tusk, but never said it was her favorite, I'd wager. It's just wishful thinking on his part. I don't think John or Christine ever told him any such thing.

I picked this up today at the counter of my local music shop. I haven't read the article yet (not expecting anything interesting) but I thought I'd get it for CD of covers. I've just reached YMLF and it's pretty bad... I like some of the bands on it (especially Yeasayer) but all these covers are just slowed down, echo-y and boring. I don't think the overall spirit has been captured at all.

Anyway her choices were: 1. Rumours 2. Fleetwood Mac (White album) 3. Mystery To Me (which she said was a distant third after the other two) Slightly surprised Tango In The Night wasn't her third choice as 'Everywhere' and 'Little Lies' were massive hits and it was a big seller. Maybe it was because the atmosphere in the band was so bad? Last edited by Dragonfly; 12-17-2012 at 04:39 PM.. |

She kind of breaks my heart a little with that, but ok.
And the white album needs a little love, anyway. Michele |

I'm surprised she didn't pick Tusk or The Dance over Mystery To Me... maybe she's feeling sentimental (see what I did there) about Bob Welch?

From Christine's perspective, considering OMH and later SYLM kicked the whole thing off for this line up of the band, I can understand why it's one of her favorite albums. Not to mention it's the first time she felt that chemistry, where she just started playing a song she just wrote and Lindsey and Stevie automatically started singing along, without rehearsal of any kind. I mean it brings that memory back to her, so I can see her selecting it. MTM had her Why which is probably on her list of favorite songs. Plus, it was a solid album all the way through for her and Bob. Selfishly though, I wanted her favorite albums to be from 1975 and beyond. Unreasonable I realize. The woman had a long career before that, but I'm biased. Michele |

Being in the studio next door when Keith played Frozen Love for Mick, Stevie says:
"It's the strangest thing, because I have no memory of meeting Mick that day. And we were not high on drugs. Lindsey and I had no money for drugs back then." ![]() Michele |

Mojo calls Fritz "an acid rock band" I think not.
"All through Fritz, Lindsey and I were dating other people. I'm not sure we would have even become a couple if it wasn't for us leaving that band. It pushed us together." "I'd get home at 6pm, fix dinner and straighten up, 'cos they'd been smoking dope and working on songs. Then from nine until three, I joined Lindsey on the music. Then I went to bed, got up and went back to my waitressing job." "I scraped togetehr every dime I could find, went to Tower Records and brought all of the FM records. And I listened to them. Lindsey did not. He listed to the songs that had been hits in England." "Mick was dressed beautifully with a fob watch in his vest pocket. John was so handsome. We went to dinner and we so had the best time. And I kept thinking, Oh my God, I can be in this band." [Oh, John is handsome now?] "I think there were times when John was railing against something that was good for FM but not good for his ego. But sometimes I could go too far. I've always been the troublemaker in FM." Keith Olsen: "I remember John coming up to me in the studio and saying, 'We used to be a blues band,' And I said to him, 'But John, this a much shorter road to the bank.'" "Lindsey and I were fast, rich, beautiful and successful. And there is nothing like success to undermine . . . things." In the studio Stevie: "I used to sit therer and read, corchet or draw while all this was going on and I would make my little suggestions, like a wingman." The time they ate marijuana cookies Stevie says: "We sat there for hours just staring at each other." Lindsey on cocaine: "I was never the guy buying the stuff. On Rumours, I don't think I went for more than 36 hours without sleep. Though I can't speak for the rest of the band and certainly not Mick." Things got bad at the Record Plant. They were going crazy. Mick said, "One night I turned up and I saw John McVie, on his own, trying to master a bass part. This very well-grounded Scotsman was on his hands and knees praying, with a picture of his guru and a bottle of brandy in front of him. And John was so not that sort of guy. I knew then that we had to get out of there." Intro to the chain is a reworking of Lola My Love. Hey, I don't think any of our musicians on the Ledge have ever said that!! I know longer trust you guys to tell me things. LB: "I actually think FM is a better recorded album than Rumours. But we always knew Rumours was good and expected a certain outcome. I don't think anyone could have predicted the Michael Jackson world we'd find ourselves in." Stevie: "I can be walking down the street and hear something and think, 'What's that? And a block or two later I realize I am hearing Mick's drums and John's bass, and it's a FM song playing. I can actually feel it in the ground. And it always makes me smile." Um, this ^ statement makes me wonder several things: 1. What Rumours song lasts for one or two blocks? 2. Stevie walks fast enough that the same song is playing for one or two blocks, while she's walking? 3. It takes Stevie one or two blocks to recognize a Fleetwood Mac song? 4. When Stevie recognizes the Fleetwood Mac song after one or two blocks, she notices it because of the rhythm section? She never recognizes her own voice?? Don't get me wrong. It takes me a while to identify an FM song. I know it's FM but it takes me about 20 seconds sometimes to figure out what song it is, if I am in a public place and there is surrounding noise. So, it takes me awhile, but it doesn't take one or two blocks? And I usually recognize Chris, Stevie or Lindsey's voice -- although I don't recognize Lindsey as quick as I recognize the other two. I don't know. Oh my goodness: Quote:
Mick: "FM were practically finished in 1974. I drove past that rustic hippy supermarket in Laurel Canyon a while ago. And I thought to myself. What on earth would have happened to me, to all of us, if I hadn't stopped there that day." |
