Portland Concert! :)

Just got back from the concert. My hotel is right across the street from the Rose Garden so I didn't have to go far at all! Well first let me just say I have watched and listened to hundreds of bootleg concerts, and believe me being right there and hearing and seeing it for yourself doesn't even compare. The sound was just amazing.

My seats were sixth row floor on Stevie's side. The crowd was actually really good. On the floor pretty much everyone stood the entire concert except for some of the slower songs. I only had one rude man tell me to sit down but I didn't. My mom and I switched seats so I was on the aisle and could stand the entire time without hearing the complaints. I didn't see any beer so I guess they don't serve it at the Rose Garden? So at least there weren't any dumb asses stumbling about.

Stevie was in top form. She was dancing and smiling and twirling her little legs off. Her voice was so powerful. The black dress she wears at first is actually quite pretty though it may look plain from far away. The embroidered flowers ( I think) are beautiful. Of course, the little Say You Will dance is the cutest ever. I was the only one I saw that did it along with Stevie. I don't think she noticed me though. She didn't have much interaction with the crowd. I think I saw her smile or wink at one person during the whole show. I held up a sign, but I don't know if she even read it. Beautiful Child was absolutely amazing. Though Stevie's voice has changed, it sounded just as beautiful as ever.

Lindsey, OMG, LOL. He was great. I didn't realized that during Tusk he actually, puts down his guitar and runs around like a mad man. I was laughing so hard. When he started doing the little ring around the rosie with Stevie, I think he may have been going to fast for her poor little hip. I'm not a big fan of "I'm so Afraid" or "Come" but seeing them live was amazing. I also got a kick out of Lindsey's "crab" imitation. He looks like a crab when he does that clawing type thing when he's playing, but it doesn't even look like he's playing. I wanted to play his guitar, but some people who I don't think were that big of fans did and Lindsey had to tell them like five times to play.

I took a little idea from Patti and blackcat and made a little sign for John that said "John Rulz" lol. Anyway I kept holding it up at the end so when they all did their little bow, of course John didn't see it, but Lindsey did and pointed and smiled then got John to look and he pointed and did a little backwards jig. lol. Tomorrow I have second row seats on Lindsey's side, so I'm going to see if I can get a little recognition for the brunettes!

A few more comments. There were two couples one row and two rows in front of me. They started making out and latching on to each other during every slow song. Gag!! Please, if any of you have done this, please please cease and desist for the sake of the poor souls behind you!!

My mom went with me and she enjoyed it very much. She doesn't know a whole lot about the band songs etc although she is constantly being taught daily Fleetwood Mac lessons by yours truly. Anyway I asked her what song she liked that best and she said "Mudslide." LOL. I said, you mean "Landslide" and she was like "oh whoops yah." Silly woman. My mom also thought Mick was going to have a heart attack when he did his little drum solo "he was sweating so much." There was also one other annoying person there who I noticed. She wasn't dressed appropriately for a concert, looked like she just got back from working out. She just sat slouched in her seat the whole time playing games on her cell phone!! And she had good seats. It was a disgrace and a half. While we were waiting for the elevator in the hotel, this lady came out who was dressed like Stevie. She started talking to this other lady and she was like "are Stevie and Lindsey married?" The other lady was like "yes they used to be." Then she went on and on about it how they used to be married and how she thinks they are still together. ?? I should have corrected her but I didn't want to be rude.

Anyway, I had a wonderful time, and the experience was one I will never forget!!

Ali, I'm glad the sign idea worked with John! It's cool because they notice YOU, but it's also cool because he gets some much deserved recognition. Isn't it cool that Lindsey appreciates people paying attention to John? Gotta love it!

And tomorrow I expect you to be out there representin' the brunettes! Nothing against you blonde ladies at all, but it's about time Lindsey realizes that we are out there too!!!!!

Thanks for the review Ali! I'm glad your sign got attention! i will be sitting in front of Stevie & John in Greensboro, perhaps I should make a sign too! Wouldnt it be great if someone at every show made a sign for John? Then they would know something was up and that we planned it all! I'm sure John would love it

Glad you had a good time!! I agree about the making out, come on people, this is a rock concert not a peep show.

AliP, I was only two rows in front of you on Stevie's side. One of the couples you referred to sat right in front of us. They didn't annoy me, they were obviously in love. I just thought they missed out on some great performances!

Thanks for mentioning the sign. Near the end, I saw Lindsey pointing and didn't catch what it was all about. Good for you!

I must say, after reading about how Stevie's voice was sounding tired and worn, my friend and I were just blown away by how great she sounded. But keep in mind that they had a pretty good rest prior to this concert (four days?), so that may have been why this show had so much ENERGY. Everyone in the band seemed to be on fire and smiling and having a blast. And give the Portland audience credit, they responded well!

Stevie did a lot of twirling and smiling to everyone, and I have to say there was something quite sexual about Mick's WT drum solo. I'd seen this several times before, but this time the man just exuded power. There's nothing overworn about it at all.

Hey Ali ~ I was there also...17th row floor in the aisle directly behind the first section on Lindsey's side. I saw much better than if I were in the center closer to the stage. I too, was blown away by the performances...Stevie sounded incredible and looked fabulous (even after a 1 day break) Lindsey was having such a blast on stage...I had chills running up and down my spine the entire night from his guitar work. They do sell beer but you're not allowed to bring it into the arena...most people where hanging out in the 'beer gardens' just outside and began to take their seats during Dreams ::I don't get it:: The couple next to us must have been in their 60's and they sat for most of the show with their arms crossed (they left right before 'goodbye baby') ::I don't get that either:: I noticed a guy running waving his arms over his head from behind us during 'dreams' and planted himself in the asile near the 2nd row (he was quickly escorted back, then a few songs later bolted and sat in someone elses seat and stayed there the entire show) :: ok whatever:: I must say I had an awesome time and hopefully the 3 rolls of film I took came out...I had to keep hiding my camera under my scarf the entire night. At least they didn't take it from me!

OMgosh!! Now were you the lady sitting right next to the lady from Virginia or somewhere like that?? Lindsey didn't autograph my sign, but John did I wish I would have known more people from the ledge were there. I felt like I didn't have anyone to talk to that loves the Mac as much as me! 'Twas I! (blonde, curly hair and on my feet the entire show...just to verify...) Ah, yes...the Lady From Virginia. Could she have possibly been more drunk?! Here's a sample of our conversations:

LFV: Don't you just love Stevie? Stevie's my girl. I saw her "last year" solo in Virginia Beach. Have you seen her before?
Me: Yes, four times solo, and once before with FM.
LFV: Where are you from?
Me: Seattle.
LFV: We're from Virginia. We came all the way here to see Stevie. She's my girl. I wanted to come to the show farthest from home, so we did. Are you from here (Portland)?
Me: No, I'm from Seattle.
LFV: We're going there tomorrow. Know any good places to drink and shop and then drink and shop again?
Me: Downtown's good.
LFV: We saw Stevie "last year" and she was just great. She's my girl. Cyndi Lauper (mind ya'll, this was actually a Cher reference!) opened for her and she was just great. You should really see Cher too. She sure puts on a great performance. So where are you from.........
