Default Stevie Nicks Says She and Lindsey Have Recorded New Fleetwood Mac Songs; Tour Plans

Haven't seen this posted yet, so here's an article I just found:

http://www.classichitsandoldies.com/...on-tour-plans/

Last month, Stevie Nicks revealed that she and Lindsey Buckingham were thinking about recording some new material to release next year in conjunction with Fleetwood Mac‘s planned reunion tour. Stevie gave an update about the status of these new tunes while on the red carpet at the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 earlier this week.

“I was in the studio with Lindsey last week for four days and we did record two songs,” she said, according to STV.tv. “We are probably going to throw them out a month before we go [on tour].”

As for the time frame of the trek, Nicks said the band will rehearse “for six weeks,” starting on January 15. She added that the Mac “will probably be on the road by the end of April.”

Stevie also explained that the group wants to make this outing different from the ones it mounted in 2009 and 2003-2004. “I think we are going to go through our catalog and pull some really neat stuff that we don’t usually do on stage,” she maintained. “We are really going to make an effort to make this really special and something brand new for everybody to see because there are so many songs.”

In addition, Nicks said she expects Fleetwood to play about 50 North American dates, as well as about 17 in Australia and 15 in Europe. “So it’s a…big world tour,” she adds.

That's great news from Stevie. I hope they really follow through on her promise to make the show special by radically revamping the set list. I have not attended a Fleetwood Mac show since the Say You Will tour. Surprisingly I didn't have enough motivation to make it to any of their last "oldies" tour. Yet, I'd make the effort to see this new tour.

I'm glad they finally came to realize that they've been selling us (die-hard fans) the same songs over and over, like a broken record. Given that time isn't in their favor, it's nice to know that they are thinking about mining their deep catalog of songs -- hopefully selecting songs they haven't performed in many years, and songs they never performed. To make space for these songs I hope they drop all the standard road-weary songs such as Dreams, Landslide, Big Love, Stand Back etc...and not attempt any covers of Christine's songs.

Songs I'd love to see and hear:

Crystal
I Don't Want To Know
Walk A Thin Line
Sisters Of The Moon
That's Alright
Oh Well
That's All For Everyone
Tango In The Night
Seven Wonders
new song
new song

And, anything from the Buckingham Nicks album.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could really have some influence in the set list? It will never be a reality, but my dreams Fleetwood Mac would allow us to vote for the songs on the internet, and they would perform the ones that get the most fan votes.

And why does the media still insist on calling any Fleetwood Mac event a "reunion?" They obviously don't know how Fleetwood Mac works, and because of the long spans of time between projects, perhaps they just forget. This "reunion" term was first used after the band recorded and toured behind Mirage, because they had not done anything for two long years!

well, according to what Lindsey's been saying at his most recent solo shows, he seems to be planning a request portion on his next solo tour, where he would put on the stage bunch of choices for the audience, and then audience can vote for several songs they'd like to hear that evening.

maybe some of that will rub off on the Mac too?

OMG, I just had this mental image of Lindsey going, "Okay everyone, on the screen above me is a list of songs with numbers next to them. Text the number of the song you most want to hear and we'll do the top five..."

And then Stevie runds across the stage and grabs the mic off of him...

"Nooooooooo, put those damn phones away!!!!!!"

She's not a big fan of texting.

I keep hoping these recordings will inspire the band so much that they'll keep going, and decide to record an entire album together. I have a feeling their days of recording new studio albums are probably over, but I'm keeping the dream alive anyway!

I think they will do another album. After that, all we'll have to look forward to is solo work from Lindsey and Stevie, and hopefully the re-release of the Buckingham Nicks album, the full Mirage concert DVD, an slew of live shows, videos. unreleased songs and demos.

They'd better do at LEAST one Bob Welch song in their upcoming tour set. Even if they did a different one every couple of nights would be good...rotate "Hypnotized", "Sentimental Lady" & "Bermuda Triangle" or something along those lines.

And, as with Vaudeville Years & Show-Biz Blues from the Peter Green era and Madison Blues from the Kiln House era...I'd like to see/hear sets from the Future Games/Bare Trees era & the Penguin/Mystery To Me eras. There's been a bunch of UNofficial things already from the Heroes Are Hard To Find times...but, maybe an "officially condoned" one with improved sound would be nice, too.

This will never happen, LOL. And as frustrating as that is for some Ledgies, you have to look at it from the perspective of the non-obsessed fan. When I go to see anyone other than the Mac or Stevie, I always want to hear the big hits. Am I little tired of some of the songs you mentioned? Sure, but that's because I've been seeing multiple shows on multiple tours for years. If it's a band I'll only see once or twice or maybe three times in my life, those big hits are an important part of the show for me.

There's a tiny, small chance that they might do a Welch song, but you know that they are not going to rotate anything every night. Not even the clothes they wear.

A Bob Welch song would be great as would a new Christine song a la "Say You Love Me" from the '09 tour.

Just glad to hear that FM are recording new songs and planning on doing stuff in 2013!!!

The only Bob Welch song that might even be considered on the tour list would be Hypnotized. That isn't going to happen. The only reason it was done on the '75/76 tour was because Buckingham/Nicks was new to the Mac. There is no reason to do any non Buckingham/Nicks Mac songs on the 2013 tour. There is so much material to add to the hits package. I love Christine and miss her but come on.......Lets just add some more deep cuts from Buckingham and Nicks's Mac songs.........
Sisters of the Moon
Seven Wonders
Walk a Thin Line
Crystal
I Don't want to Know
Tango in the Night
Steal Your Heart Away
The Ledge

I can go on and on ..... No need to add any songs by "non Current Mac Members"

I would love to see a headline that goes something like...plans for 2013 tour scrapped as the Mac reconvenes in the studio to record new material penned by Nicks and Buckingham.
