Ken said that they decided the tempo of Dreams wasn't hypnotic enough, so Lindsey suggested a loop. Richard and Ken agreed.

"Cris loaded out favorite take of Dreams and we played the track -- just drums -- looking for the most perfect drum section. Believe it or not, we couldn't find eight perfect bars, so we had to have Mick play about a minute of the verse to get them perfectly steady. Eight bars took about sixteen seconds to play. At fifteen inches per second, this meant that about twenty feet of tape would need to be cut out of the drum take and spliced together, fron to tback, to make a continuous loop. Our tape loop would be a twenty-foot-long circle."
