Mirabelle's Cover of Dreams and Crystal Revisions (7 songs) up for Streaming

As homages go, well … this is homage. Thirty-five years ago today, Fleetwood Mac released an album called “Rumours,” which turned out pretty well for them. To mark the anniversary, NYC-based duo Mirabelle — the project of singer-songwriter Michelle Hotaling and producer Scott Slater — today released “Crystal Revisions,” a syrupy seven-track paean to the music of Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham. How much you like “Revisions” will largely depend on how you feel about covers in general, and this collection, however well-intentioned, sends me scurrying back to the original. It’s available for name-your-price on Bandcamp.

We’ll Gigamesh did it.. he made Fleetwood Mac relevant again. I know this seems pretty impossible, but it turns out it was just unlikely. And yes, he did choose their most overplayed song Dreams. Now that I have dropped your expectations significantly, let’s dive right in. He takes this rainy day anthem and gives it a funky electro bass line. He pairs this with a day dream worthy drum set. These subtle changes take this song right out of the 70′s and give us one great kick back track. Gigamesh AKA Matthew Thomas Masurka, is most well recognized for producing Mike Posner’s multi-platinum track Cooler Than Me. After that, it was just a landslide with his remix of Foster The People’s Pumped Up Kicks gaining over 3 million hits. Since then he has had several tracks top the charged and has ceased to disappoint. So, click play and enjoy The Eargazm!

Brand spankin' new cover of Dreams just surfaced. To those familiar with Top 40 radio, this chick was the hook singer for Cobra Starship's top 10 hit "You Make Me Feel..." It's a slow-jam, R&B take on the song and I'm kinda diggin' it, so thought I'd share;

Leighton Meester Dares To Cover Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” And It’s Actually Really Good

I am always weary when anyone covers a Stevie Nicks song — especially when it’s a celebrity who is not known for being a singer. Naturally, I was ready to hate Leighton Meester and Dana Williams’ version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” but remarkably, I didn’t. Williams, whose EP The Lonely One is now available on iTunes, sounds amazing and Meester’s not so bad either. She gets extra respect from me for her guitar-playing abilities. I rate this highly listenable, as far as Fleetwood Mac covers go.

The Pretty Little Liars cast is full of talented musicians. We should have known Ashley Benson (Hanna) would be able to carry a tune, too. Listen to her sing along with Stevie Nicks.

“So, I just recorded a little something. It’s on top of somebody else’s voice cause I was singing along with it,” Ash says in the Instagram video that has her playing back the audio of her singing along to “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. And it’s kind of beautiful. We’d love to hear Ash sing on her own — possibly another Fleetwood Mac cover? The haunting sentimentality of it seems to suit her voice.
