The 3 Great Loves of Stevie's Life

I think it is Lindsey, Mick, and Joe. She has said in several interviews that Mick was a great love of her life. Therefore, he has to be on the list. Lindsey is on here, because of the passionate way she talks about him in interviews and in her lyrics. Just listen to the album, Say You Will, they admit that many of the songs are about each other. Joe is on here, because once again she has admit to this in interviews.

I think it's Lindsey, Joe Walsh and another guy we may not know about.

I don't think her fling with Mick counts as love, it was lusty and freakish, IMO. LOL I honestly don't think it was that spectacular or much of an affair really. I think when she says Mick was a "great love", she means she LOVES him, she was not IN LOVE with him. JMO.

THE love of Stevie's life is, without question, Joe Walsh. Personally, I think she is in love with him from afar to this day (and it is quite possibly returned). I don't think I'm the only one who thinks Destiny Rules is either entirely about or at least has references to him. When Sheryl Crow interviewed Stevie in 2001, Stevie said the only person she's ever been with whom she felt she could spend her entire life with is a musician, but she wouldn't name names. Stevie was asked about him a lot in '91 because of the Timespace liner notes, and in the interview by Nicky Horne she says she "would've given up her damned career for him" and that she "will always love him". Since Stevie said this about her career, I think it pretty much leaves no question of her feelings for Joe. Maybe I'm totally off or reading into things, but I remember checking out a Joe album at the library that came out (I think) in '92 that has a very moving song on it called I'm Sorry. I have to wonder if he wrote it in response to everything Stevie was saying about their relationship in '91. Has anyone else heard this, and what do you think?
As for the others, I might not have guessed Mick right off if Stevie hadn't mentioned him, but we all know the intesnity that was their love affair. I mean, "Beauty And The Beast" was inspired by it! I don't understand why everyone is being so rude about Mick. Looks aren't everything, ya know...and he's not THAT hideous!!!
As for the third, I'm inclined to say Lindsey, but it's kind of anyone's guess...

Once I read an interview how Stevie talked about why she and Joe broke up and it was something about her album she was working on (RAL) and he was calling her, wanting to be with her, to see her, anything...and she was like, "I have to do this." I guess they were arguing and she was like, "I have to go" and he said something like, "You hang up that phone and it's over" and she hung it up, but it reallly hurt her to do so.

Reminds me of "when you had up that phone, you cease to exist" from "Welcome to the Room...Sara."


Maybe someone else has read this and can expound upon what I've said???

The story is.....Stevie was having a session and Joe came to see her and she got extremely upset because she had limited time to work (and also felt it was HER session), and Joe was distracting the band by telling stories and cracking them up, etc, so they couldn't get anything done. At the end of this, Stevie told Joe she didn't like where their relationship was going and started heading out the door. He said, "You know, if you walk out that door you basically cease to exist", and she "just kept going". If you want to know more about Stevie's relationship with Joe (and many other things, including her relationship with Kim), I can't recommend getting your hands on the Nicky Horne '91 interview enough (as well as other '91 interviews, but this one is the best). It is very compelling.
