She might not have HAD to use the Landslide royalties to fix her pool. It might just have been something that she decided to do in light of having a little extra income, but would have waited and done at a different time otherwise because it wasn't a priority.

But, I have no clue what the story even was with that as I've never heard it before haha I'm just being contrary for the sake of it.

If Stevie said that, it must have been just an off-handed way of saying the song made her a little extra money. You can INSTALL a swimming pool for $30,000. When was the last time Stevie couldn't come up with that?

She did say it.I'm probably not that creative to have made it up.The way she said it in an interview seemed to infer that the pool may have remained in dissrepair if not for the royalties from the Pumpkin's cover. This was also shortly after the IRS went after her for tax deductions for her wardrobe so times may have been not that great. She also commented later that she had never come close to being broke so who knows.

I don't believe that Jimmy Buffett at £248m is up that high on the list.

I read this latest NME piece before I saw we already had a thread about that Celebrity Networth site. In this old thread it was mentioned that the site said she was worth $65 million. I converted it just now and that's what $40 million pounds comes up to just about, $64 million and change.

I know there is a wide margin of accountability in this listing of the "Worlds Richest Singers". However, I am surprised by the glaring omission of any other FM members, mainly Lindsey Buckingham! The list contains members of a couple of other bands, as well as 3 members of the Eagles.

I am not at all surprised that Stevie is the wealthiest member of Fleetwood Mac. That is pretty expected and evident based upon her ample solo career achievements (concert AND record sales) plus her FM songwriting royalties, sales and concert receipts. On the other hand I just assumed that Lindsey was pretty conservative with his FM fortune & was also sitting under a pile of cash.

I figured they were aiming specifically at lead singers (as in the rock band persuasion)
But then they add in the random Pat Benatar, etc. (who surprisingly made this list) and all common sense flies out the window !?

But when they do this kind of thing (or when Forbes and Fortune make lists), they like to count things that can be measured through public records. Royalties, contractual deals (like movie pay or points, Vegas deals), box office proceeds, record sales, etc.

If your fortune has grown privately from your stock or real estate investments or because you've saved a lot of money (and did it back when interest rates actually rewarded you for saving), no one is going to know that, so you aren't going to rank. I always hear about people who have lots more money than their careers would warrant (like that Wayne Rogers guy from M*A*S*H who is much richer than Alan Alda due to his business dealings, yet Alan Alda would probably make a "richest" list a lot faster than Wayne).

I know what you mean about the other FM members. I know people have talked about it here (yeah Viv) but I never saw anything about Christine selling her music rights and making a lot of money from that. Something like that wouldn't just show up in Billboard magazine once. I think we'd see several news reports about it. I would love the details of that deal. While Mick seems to be a spendthrift, I wonder if John has saved a lot of money. He doesn't seem to spend a lot -- at least the house that he sold before moving to Hawaii was a modest one.

I figured Paul McCartney would be on top.But I'm still baffled about Mr Margaritaville Jimmy Buffett. If he keeps his business deals up .He be in with his namesake billionare Warren Buffett. He has his Margaritaville Cafe and Cheeseburger
Restaurant chain going plus other deals going on.Plus non stop touring since 1976.
