Not too late

and

Trouble

i was hoping it was red Trouble-guitar he threw and that he'd be finally replacing Trouble with Rodeo, but that's not what happened...

note also the most important fact - he wore suit jacket 2 nights in the row

@majesticentinc
@ellellew Yeah. One of his guitars was giving him trouble and he threw it down in frustration. Couldnt blame him.

@ellellew
@majesticentinc was it right before Big Love?

@majesticentinc
@ellellew That sounds right.

Default Sound & guitars at the SO Cal gigs

Hi Elle & everyone,
I really need to spend more time on The Ledge! I went to all four So. Cal shows, and there was some stress over sound/guitars either from LB or his guitar tech, Stanley & Sound man, William. At Belly UP, LB was glaring at the person in the sound booth asking for "three more wedges" for Bleed to Love Her. Or saying, "this is a softer song" before NGBA. At the Wiltern, since it's not a bar/tavern like place like Belly Up, they had concert hall acoustics. At Coach House sound people were a little stressed and LB's guitar tech said he made a mistake somewhere. Between the first and second song, a song by another artist (!) filtered through the sound system while LB was giving his remarks! He said something to the effect of "I hope this isn't a hint", and "I trust that won't happen again." The crowd was amiable and joked. LB fiddled with the knobs on his Rick Turner during the "I'm So Afraid" early solo after first verse and chorus. I've never seen him do that, and wondered what was going on. Well, at the last show at Thousand Oaks, in a beautiful acoustical concert hall, there were problems at the beginning of "I'm so Afraid." As LB started to strum, he looked behind him, and the guitar tech raced out, and notched up the amp. Then, LB went to the mike stand, looked to the sound booth, looked behind him, and yelled something related to fixing the amp behind him. The guitar tech raced out and tried to fix it, but it wasn't to LB's liking. The two of them stood close together with backs semi-turned form audience. I was in the third row, and saw the concern & heard displeasure. Guitar tech ran back and tried to fix it, and LB said, "Shall we start again?" (I turned my iphone camera on at that point). It was hard to film at that show as the ushers were coming around to tap people on the shoulder. I have more audio than video but I'm thinking of posting it.

All this to say that it seems that there are sound/guitar glitches. As an audience member, I didn't discern anything wrong with the sound, but then again, I don't have the standards or know what to listen for as LB would have it. I hope he wasn't too disappointed with how things sounded. I loved every minute of it. I'm sure it's easy to get frustrated when you're doing many nights in a row of shows. I was just a spectator, and by day four of his shows, I was exhausted from traveling here and there, so I can imagine how he and his team must feel. I feel extremely lucky to have had contact with LB either through handshakes/comments at each of the shows, and will always remember it!

more tweets about guitar throwing incident:

AJ ‏ @___A__J___
@ellellew @nickslive he was clearly pissed. Song effect was missing technically that he wanted. Frustrated him. Untrained wouldn't know.

AJ ‏ @___A__J___
@ellellew @roneappleseed @nickslive yes, it did. Joked about it later. Problem was an amp attachment. Song was great! Strings everywhere!

Amy - good to see you here!

thanks for the overview of the technical problems. it's interesting, when you read reviews and tweets and FB posts from various people, other than ISA that you mentioned nobody noticed anything, or if they did they didn't consider it anything out of the ordinary or distracting from the intense show.

guess although this kind of thing does not seem to happen on regular LB solo tour, adjusting like that may not be completely unusual during some shows and performers seem to work it in the show, especially if it's a one-person show. kinda like LB did with his guitar throwing and joking about it right after that.

all, Amy was the first one who broke the news and posted the short clip of Stephanie the day of the first show!

more from Carmel... (that one was a very eventful show apparently!):

@majesticentinc
@ellellew At the end of the show a lady tossed her own cd on stage. Lindsey said she had chuzpah and he smiled.

@majesticentinc
@ellellew He picked up the cd and said he would listen to it. That was Carmel show.

THANK YOU, Amy, for giving us the scoop - and welcome to The Ledge!!

I saw the tweet and was curious to see what prompted the incident. Poor Linds. This completely solo thing is really testing him! I hope Stan and the sound guy still have a job at the end of the tour

Anyways, I'm happy that the average listener didn't notice, and that Lindsey was able to get past it, and make light of it later in the show.

Hey, I was thinking maybe Stan heard me thanking him for messing up the guitar at 92Y, leading to Lindsey having to play Rock Away Blind instead, and was trying to help us out again
It was a valiant effort on his part

Thanks Amy. Him mentioning that it was a softer song reminded me of that review talking about how loud the show was.

reading Amy's recap of technical issues that's exactly what i was thinking... i didn't hear any of you mentioning that Wiltern was loud - was it? but at least couple of later shows people complained how loud it was.

he was never too loud at the shows i've seen of the last year's tour, unlike many of the newer bands i've seen or heard about their shows. so must be that they keep trying to work out different sound issues this time around - they probably carry less sound equipement with them than when LB tours with his full band so may need more adjusting?

and, they never did this kind of schedule - shows 4 days - 1 off - 4 days... constantly. i can't even imagine how it will be in the east with 5 days - 1 off - 5 days schedule. hope they are not pushing themselves too hard.

either way, as stated on twitter :
@lieueitak
@ellellew Yeah, TO. I'm sure there were no big issues/will be no big issues for LB. And if there are, guitar abuse so it's a win win.
