At that time, I was not a Ledgie. But that's okay, I forgive you. I may have even bought you a drink.

That Shoreline is something else. I went there with 3 friends for The Dance Tour, second night and we had a magic cookie...we floated around pre-show and completely lost each other in a haze. Of course, for some reason, I had my friends ticket stubs. Amazing how we just "suddenly" found each other minutes before the show started.

Since it was the second night at Shoreline, Christine came out to do her traditional Songbird on the grand piano, she ran her fingers across the top of it and commented that they didn't dust it. So cute.

I really like this song. For some reason, the sax doesn't bother me as much on this as some of the others from TOSOTM. Really like the vocal, but the live versions I've heard are even better. The only lyric that makes me cringe a little is "you cannot tell a gypsy she is no longer a member." Umm...it's an ethnic group, Stevie, not the rotary club.

This is one of Stevie's most melancholic songs and to me, seems to convey that Stevie was experiencing an identity crisis at the time. The saxophone from Kenny G. is beautiful. I like this song very much.

I like the song too, it is a kind of Stevie classic - really heavy atmosphere, overblown drama, ridiculous obscure lyrics, meandering melody, urgent vocals that make it seem there is a secret being told or an emotion expressed that you can't quite grasp. I love Stevie when she's like this. Saxophone and keyboards or not.

So true. This song could be a litmus test for weeding out the heretics from the disciples at the alter.

i think it shows how Stevie was kind of lost and confused at this point
"Who Called My Name? ," she used to know who she was "" i remember shedding a tear from those lyrics.
because it struck me in my life and still does ...
Id Love to hear a remixed remastered edited version of this song-

And WE could do it.

Listening to it now. That bassline!

'Better ru-hun for your life, cried the ma-ad hatter!'

Sounds clear as a bell on this digital copy here.

I actually like the song but your point is valid. I did not like the use of horns on OSOTM. I can't stand the arrangement of Two Kinds of Love but Whole Lotta Trouble gets a pass for me...

As I have mentioned a few times, I have never seen so many concertgoers make a bathroom dash as when this song played at the Wisconsin tour stop in 1989.

This is probably my least favorite Stevie album track ever. And that's saying something, considering I'm more tolerant of it today than I was 20 years ago.

But in all fairness, that was in Wisconsin.

The sax on this particular song doesn't do anything for me but, other than that, I love it. I admit, though, that I always considered it a song that would appeal to Stevie fans and not to people in general.
