I just finished The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, I wrote a blurb about how I feel about it on my blog. Here's a direct link to the post, if you so desire

I read this years ago. I'm a huge fan of Sylvia's anyway, and this book is one of my favorites. Being somebody who is considered by the medical world as having a mental disorder (I find it horrendous how they could class depression as a mental disorder, but...) , it's a book I can relate to.

I've been meaning to read this forever. Sylvia Plath fascinates me so much.

I almost feel like I can relate to the bleakness Esther feels at times, but I find it enchanting how Plath creates this faultless illusion of Esther's depression without actually creating it. I'm not sure that makes sense.

How strange you are talking about her. A book of poetry from her just arrived from Amazon.

The Bell Jar movie is in the works starring Julie Childs and Rose McGowan.

Seriously? I can't wait to see that.

I remember the first time that I read The Bell Jar. I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks after - and it's stayed with me ever since.

Well, I have a Nook Color & since I've had it, I read books a lot more. Right now, I'm reading The Mill River Recluse. I'm not finished it yet, but it is really good And it was only $.99. Some of the best books that I've read recently were either free or $1.00. You can't beat that!

I read that too. Started out good, but petered out a bit at the end for me. Still not bad for $1.

Just finished Delirium by Lauren Oliver. Kinda sorta Hunger Games-ish, but not copycat. Love is a disease in the future which the government cures you of when you're 18. I just put in a request for book #2, Pandemonium.

In the process of reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.

I really liked that one, a good page-turner.

Yes it is, although it will probably take me weeks to get through it. It's my "paper" book of the moment - I always read a real book before bed (not on the Kindle on computer) to let my brain relax before sleep. I'm usually so tired I can only get through a chapter or two though...

I've just put the first 5 A Song of Ice and Fire books onto my kindle and will start A Game of Thrones tonight when I go to bed. Has anyone read them?

I finished The Hunger Games last weekend. I liked it, but I didn't love it as most seem to. Collins' prose was a bit awkward to me. (Has she ever heard of a semicolon?) She doesn't seem to be that gifted of a storyteller, which to me is the hallmark of a good Young Adult writer. I'll eventually finish the series, but I'm in no hurry to do so.

Also finished up Manhunt recently, which is about the aftermath of Lincoln's assassination, and especially, the hunt for John Wilkes Booth. It's a quick read, with the pacing of a thriller. I would have preferred to see less editorializing by the author, especially his romanticism of Booth.

Cold Mountain and The Lucky One are two of my favorites! They're good reads.
