I'm currently researching The Civil Wars after getting a good first impression of them on Last. FM. I was going to buy their album, Barton Hollow, but somebody at the store (Somebody I've had a crush on for a while and I'm led to believe he has on me too but we're both chicken sh*t) told me to wait because the UK version had five extra songs. They just didn't have it in stock the day I went in. So I'll probably treat myself to it on Saturday.

Speaking of disappointing impressions, I bought and listened to Counting Crows "Saturday Nights And Sunday Mornings" for the first time on Saturday. And I hate to say it but I wasn't THAT impressed with it. The eloquent, beautifully knit songs I was expecting just weren't there. I don't know what Adam Duritz had in his head at the time, but they just didn't sound like the same, stunning band in this album. Not a happy Bee about that.

I did buy The Civil Wars album after finding it in HMV a week after I was dissuaded from purchasing the standard edition. I am so glad I waited. This song is my ultimate favourite of their work (Although I am a very hard nut to crack, even I'm a sucker for a slushy song. And I love the interplay between disinterest and love, and how seemingly indifferent they are from the other), but they have a wonderful cover of a Michael Jackson song (Billie Jean) which I do find quite fun. You wouldn't really necessarily suggest a Michael Jackson song for a folk band to cover (Or maybe that's just me with strange standards for music) but they did a great job.

Hall & Oates-"The Very Best of..."-all good stuff from the "hit making" era. When I hear "Out of Touch" or "Maneater" I just want to get up and sing. Of course in privacy Daryl Hall has got one of the best voices in the industry.

'Out Of Touch' is likely my fave song from H & O. Definitely agree with your assessment of Daryl's voice. My husband says the same!

What do you think about his solo albums? I own "Soul Alone" and must say that there are few great songs, especially "Help Me Find a Way to Your Heart" and "I'm In a Philly Mood". In Poland they are practically unknown but few years ago I remember there was a Techno version of "Out of Touch" (which of course was barely listenable). From time to time only "Maneater" gets some airplay and nothing more. I will have to buy myself some of their albums but as Import releases they're hard and expensive to get I would like to have "Big Bam Boom" (great title!) and "H2O".

Default Lone Justice

Retro blast from the past.Lone Justice.I probly posted this on here already.I've been getting into them lately.Maria Mckee has a beautiful voice. She can sing anything.I wist they would of done better on the charts then. They would of done great today on the country charts if their tunes were released today .Including Shelter. They would of made a killing.
Look in the videos .You will see some familiar faces that we know.

Rock out with Shelter

Shelter on Maria's solo tour

Country

Don't Toss US Away .Country artist Patty Loveless did a cover of this song in 1989 which peaked at number 5 on the top country songs.

Don't Toss US Away . solo

Some Johnny Cash

They works with some familiar names of people that are friends and past band members of Stevie Nicks.

Jimmy Iovine,Mike Campbell, Tom Petty.Bob Glaub,Thom Panunzio,Shelly Yakus,
Bobbye Hall,Benmont Tench Hum. Almost all of Stevie's Belladonna band was involve with them.

Oh man, Jondalar, I have not seen that film in years! Others put it down as being the poor man's Jaws, but it had its merits to me, notably the soundtrack!
