but is this a game of Fantasy Booking Agent or has there been an actual announcement of a tour?

Now the philosophical question... at what point do we call this a "tour?" Two dates? Three dates? Ten dates? This is so cool... it's almost as if Lindsey is doing these solo acoustic dates just because he can. Nobody is vying for his time, I guess.

did you notice something weird?

i was going to wait for Della to post it since it's her theory, but i just can't wait since it's too cool if true (don't kill me Della) -

this year is 20th anniversary of OOTC tour, right?

look at the OOTC tour venues, and look at the 2 announced so far (one of which is apparently really dingy and something you'd think he'd avoid these days):

In light of Della's theory, let's see how many of these get booked (from OOTC tour) -

San Juan Capistrano California - Coach House
Los Angeles California - Wiltern
San Diego California - Belly Up Tavern
Ventura Courts California - Ventura Theatre
San Fransisco California - Bimbos
San Jose California - (Unknown)
St Paul Minnesota - World Theatre
Boston Massachusetts - Paradise
Hartford Connecticut - The Sting
Bearsville New York - Bearsville Theatre
Philadelphia Pennsylvania - Theatre of Living Arts
Washington DC - Bayou
New York City - Town Hall
Atlanta Georgia - Variety Playhouse
Fort Worth Texas - Caravan of Dreams
Austin Texas - Backroom
Boulder Colorado - Boulder Theatre
Phoenix Arizona - Roxy

Then opened for Tina Turner at -

Reno Nevada - (Unknown)
St Paul Minnesota - Target Centre
Bonner Springs Kansas - Sandstone Amphitheatre
St Louis Missouri - Riverport Amphitheatre
Madison Wisconsin - Marcus Amphitheatre
Chicago Illinois - Poplar Creek Music Theatre
Cincinnati Ohio - Riverbend
Detroit Michigan - Pine Knob
Toronto Canada - (Unknown~~)
Philidelphia Pennsylvania - Allentown Fair Amphitheatre
New York City - Radio City Music Hall

thanks Viv for assembling the dates (and sorry for stealing them and posting them here!).

Hejira - thanks for the Bayou response earlier today. and... i'm so jealous that you saw that show!!

That is an interesting theory! But from what I have observed, I would be puzzled if Lindsey would observe this kind of an anniversary. For one thing, OOTC was billed to be Lindsey's emergence as a solo superstar, and all of the promotion and advertising would lead you to believe that he was the second coming. So when OOTC flopped commercially, it was a major blow to his ego (or so I read). The OOTC tour was also notoriously costly and over-the-top. And in subsequent years, it seemed that he largely avoided playing anything from that album in concert- perhaps due to painful memories? These new shows are so under the radar that it seems like he is up to something. He is certainly not doing it for the money. And the SWS promotion is so over. I can only surmize that he is doing this simply for the love of performing... or perhaps he is recording a solo acoustic live album? I'm sure he was motivated by the warm responses he received from the solo acoustic portion of his SWS live shows.

BTW, the Bayou show was epic. It was my first time seeing Lindsey ever. After seeing Fleetwood Mac with Rick and Billy a few times, I was really anxious to see the missing link in the chain. And I have to admit that I was actually starstruck- it was so unreal to finally see him in person (right under his microphone). I do recall getting sweat upon...

you know, i keep reading that here, but i moved to the US already by that time and was going to almost every concert within 6 hr driving distance of where i lived... and i have never ever noticed or heard of somebody named Lindsey Buckingham at the time... although i did own FM greatest hits, which was overall too poppy for me (too many CM songs) so i put it away after a couple of listens. anyway, now when i see all these live performances and your impressions from that tour i so regret that somehow he did not pop on my radar at the time!

wouldn't that be something? he definitely got a lot of accolades for the Small Machine live recording too... so who knows?

Lindsey had a meltdown. He forgot he was performing in a bar and expected all eyes and ears to be focused only on him throughout his show. For the encore he yelled at some people on the balcony who seemed to ignore him all night long because they were talking to each other the whole time. He not only gave them the finger, but he shoved that finger in the air a few times like he was shoving it up their chimney's. I was not pleased with him and even though the insult was not directed at me I still felt insulted. I vowed I'd never go see him again.(I've seen him on all his tours BTW) I forgave him in time.

Chris Nicks was in charge of merchandising at this show. I told him I wished I could have a Bella Donna jacket with the tambo, flowers and dove on it and he said he wished he could have one also.

Arrow Well...

He won't be playing Caravan of Dreams in Fort Worth because it doesn't exist anymore, but there are other places he could play.

The Aardvark

Lola's Saloon
Lola's Saloon2

McDavid Studio at Bass Hall

I really wish the Ridglea Theater was open right now for this.

For a couple of months, Lindsey was everywhere- on all the talk shows, on VH1, full-page ads in People, Rolling Stone and Billboard, etc. But I didn't hear a single OOTC song on the radio. Well, you can't fault WB for not trying.

As a kid, when Rumours came out, despite hearing them on the radio constantly, I dismissed FM because I thought they was too poppy for my tastes. Meanwhile, I was "hopelessly devoted" to Olivia Newton John, The Bee Gees and Andy Gibb. Oh, the irony... I finally had my "aha" moment after Stevie's Bella Donna came out and I could hear FM's previous work through a chiffon filter. Things sound much better with chiffon!

Default east coast in the fall?

update - that upstate NY booking agent now says that lindsey's team moved the available dates to what seems to be the fall for the east coast.

i'm not sure that i like this. might mean that the fall would be with the full band? now my appetite is whetted for that solo / acoustic / alone / LB+guitar show - but i do not want to fly to CA for that!
