Question REFLECTION and PERSONAL GROWTH...Discuss

REFLECTION and PERSONAL GROWTH. ( These would be two seperate polls. )

PERSONAL GROWTH:
Countdown
Doing What I Can
Don't Look Down
Turn It On
You Do Or You Don't
Soul Drifter
Surrender The Rain ( w/ Spoken Introduction )
This Is the Time
That's All For Everyone
Goodbye Angel

and, maybe...

Time Precious Time ( honestly, I'm not completely sure what this is about! )
World Turning ( or is this refelction? )
I Must Go ( this was also in anti-love )

REFLECTION:
Bel Air Rain
Cast Away Dreams
End Of Time
Flying Down Juniper
Not Too Late
Down On Rodeo
Go Insane
The Right Place To Fade
Shadow of the West
Walk A Thin Line
On the Wrong Side
Underground
Family Man
I'm So Afraid
Seeds We Sow
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Never Going Back Again
Can't Go Back
My Little Demon ( if not taken in a sexual sense )

Songs from Seeds We Sow were a little tough to categorize, for me. But, I feel good about End Of Time and Seeds We Sow both being in REFLECTION. I had no idea how to categorize In Our Own Time, so I left it out.

Obviously, REFLECTION is big with Lindsey, so we need to do a lot of work narrowing that one down, especially!

PLEASE DISCUSS...and hopefully we can get it to 10 songs or less, and get the polls underway!

hmm... i like that you have 10 songs in personal growth so would be one poll.

completely agree with first 8. not sure about That's All For Everyone, need to go read words.

Goodbye Angel? i don't know about that one... but i don't really care about that song and almost never listen to it so am not good to judge it.

TPT - reflection?

WT i would say maybe personal growth (gotta get my feet back on the ground)?

I Must Go - maybe.

i think we should figure out all sings that could belong into reflection category, and if there's many more than 10, we can do 2 separate polls and combine them eventually.

i'd say probably not My Little Demon.

don't know about I Know I'm Not Wrong... or NGBA

Underground should go in a different category - it's clearly a song about music business... but then again so it's Not Too Late but that one is more vague and about his carrier in a much wider sense. Underground is very narrow and clear. maybe Underground and One Take should go in the same category? although One Take again is much more general and clearly political. Murrow also political. and Peacekeeper. guess we need another discussion about political songs. and music business songs?

The Right Place To Fade? i don't know, maybe that one should be in the same category as IOOT and TTWLG?

To me, That's All For Everyone is pretty staright forward. Lindsey telling everyone ( and reminding himself ) that he's ready to move on. Definitely growth, imo.

That's all for everyone
That's all for me
Last call for everyone
Must be just exactly what I need
I call for everyone
I cry for more
That's all for everyone
Must be just exactly what I need
That's all
I need somewhere to go
That's all
Must be what I need
That's all
I need someone to know
Last call
Exactly what I need
I can't stay
I can't deceive
That's all for everyone
Must be just exactly what I need
So that's all for everyone

he's really hammering it in, isn't he? (can you tell i don't like this song? almost every one of his Tusk songs is stellar imo, but i really dislike this one - and then there's SMAP - guess he was much better with anti-love and anger than growth during Tusk time )

Yeah, that's a better fit for RPTF. They're all about a specific person/relationship. I'm OK with removing it from reflection.

LOL. So you agree it's in the right category, though? While it's not as great as SMAP, I do like it. It's soothing

I think Underground is reflective - though he's reflecting on the music business, he's also reflecting on his place in the business. Not Too Late I think is seriously reflective - on family ( fatherhood ), on the music business...on his whole life. Of the two, I'd be willing to concede Underground, but Not Too Late, I think belongs here.

and did i mention i LOVE Underground?

and while i like the lyrics and definitely find them interesting although depressing, i have hard time making it through Not Too Late.

If we're including Underground and Not Too Late, we have to include What's The World Coming To and possibly Rock Away Blind.

I agree with Bagdrum. This category is so difficult for me to narrow down, though.
