Totally agree with this. Meryl Streep is quite possibly one of the world's finest actresses.

I don't think there is really anybody I can think of that should play Stevie. It should be a complete unknown. For singing capability and similarity of Stevie's early vocal style, I'd pick Jessie Baylin - and she also looks like Stevie circa 1974-1976, but that doesn't mean she could act the part. I like Reece, but don't feel she's the right pick for portraying Stevie Nicks in any film endeavor.
Ultimately, the right person is probably yet to be discovered.

Sissy Spacek did a beautiful job playing the Oscar winning roll of Loretta Lynn in the Coal Miners Daugther. She can play the current Stevie. Beverly D'Angelo did the singing of Patsy Cline too in the movie.

Reese already won an oscar for portraying a country music star. She won't win another one for playing Stevie. She's the wrong choice.

[ok guys, if Grandma Reese is out of the picture how about Jennifer Lawrence? She's new on the scene, since we last had this discussion]
Entertaintment Tonight/ Yahoo April 16, 2013 http://tv.yahoo.com/news/stevie-nick...235600332.html Stevie Nicks: Witherspoon's Too Old to Portray Me By Robert Pace Steve Nicks' alluring life filled with the many escapades she's endured as the lead vocalist of Fleetwood Mac and a solo artist urges to one day be adapted into a biopic. Nicks had originally tabbed Reese Witherspoon to play her on the big screen, but she is now repealing her as her selection. "I've already told [Reese] she’s almost too old," Nicks told ET Canada at the Toronto premiere of her new documentary, In Your Dreams. PICS: Exes Play Nice For Their Kids: Reese & Ryan + More Although Nicks says in the documentary, which tracks the making of her 2011 album of the same name, that she wants the 37-year-old actress to represent her in a film, she appears to have second-guessed herself in the time that has passed. "I love her, but she's like, 'I could play your mother.' I'm like 'O.K,'" the 64-year-old singer-songwriter said. Witherspoon may not be the ideal age Nicks has in mind for her portrayer, but she has had a successful history with portraying musicians. At 30, she won an Oscar, Golden Globe, and a SAG Award for portraying June Carter, singer and wife of Johnny Cash, in the 2005 biopic based on Cash's life, Walk the Line. While Nicks' biopic is nothing more than a conceptualization at this point, her real life is on full display in her recently released documentary. Her producing partner and Eurythmics musician Dave Stewart originally suggested that Nicks film the process of recording her first solo studio album in 10 years. The "Talk to Me" singer wasn't too keen on the filming at first, but eventually allowed it, assuming that it would be used for a personal keepsake later on. With that mindset, she was startled when the footage was used as a standalone documentary. "I thought a few people would see it and love it and it would go back on the library shelf," she told ET Canada. "They say good things come to people who wait… I think good things come to people who don’t expect anything." Perhaps Nicks wasn't expecting the footage to be developed into a documentary, but In Your Dreams isn't the first documentary based on an album production in which she was partaken. A documentary called Destiny Rules, based on the recording of Fleetwood Mac's most recent album (Say You Will), was released in 2004. She is trending on yahoo because of this comment. They are making it sound like Stevie is insulting Reese. One of the tabloids phrased the article as "The always gracious Stevie Nicks...." using sarcasm to call her rude. Really the comment was taken out of context. I hope this doesn't blow up in her face like the Nikki Minaj comment did.

ugh this is not good. here is another article that i found about it. i can tell from the comments that people are going to make a big deal out of this.
Is Reese Witherspoon “too old” to play Stevie Nicks, as the catty 64-year-old Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter recently told ET Canada? Meow. The remarks were allegedly made at the Toronto premiere of Nicks’ new documentary, In Your Dreams, which was produced with the help of husband and Eurythmics star Dave Stewart. It records the process of the once-popular Nicks making her first solo studio album in a decade. I might have said 37-year-old Witherspoon was too classy to play the 70s rock icon who didn’t hold back from the drugs, sex, and messy relationships expected of a star of that era. However, it’s called acting for a reason. In 2005′s Walk the Line, she played a famous musician and wife of an even earlier time, June Carter Cash, to such acclaim that she earned an Oscar for Best Actress. In any event, by Stevie Nicks’ own account, she apparently didn’t realize that the 70s were over until well into the 90s. In an interview in January, she confessed that her addiction to Klonopin is part of what drove Lindsey Buckingham to leave the band in 1987. But she didn’t quit the drug until a rehab stint in 1993, which included withdrawal symptoms so severe that she claimed that she nearly died. Now, I’m not saying that ET Canada’s Michele Yeo has a mean streak, but she caught some pretty garbled comments coming out of Stevie Nicks’ mouth. Nicks said she already told Reese that she’s “almost” too old — as if that nasty little “almost” makes it all right — and then added: “I love her, but she’s like, ‘I could play your mother, I’m like okay.” Yeah, I’m like OK too. Did that even make any sense? Apparently, Nicks is only calling Reese Witherspoon too old because Witherspoon allegedly said it first. Or maybe all that babble is a Klonopin flashback? At this point, it isn’t clear if there will be a Stevie Nicks biopic starring Reese Witherspoon at all. But we could next see the Legally Blonde star in David Fincher’s Gone Girl. I for one would love the idea of Witherspoon playing the perfect suburban thirysomething sociopath Amy, who plots to frame her husband for murder. Even Stevie Nicks couldn’t call Reese Witherspoon too old for that part. http://www.inquisitr.com/622304/rees...-stevie-nicks/ |

^ What? That doesn't even make sense. That article is almost incomprehensible.
Stevie and Reese are friends. And it's true - Reese IS too old to play Stevie in a future biopic (assuming one is ever made, and assuming that it would be detailing the rise to fame etc). Stevie was 27 when she became a star, but she looked about 12. By the time this ever gets to being made Reese will be in her forties. People making mountains out of molehills, as usual.

Of course, we could have two actresses play her and Reese could play Stevie around the Klonopin years, but if you had someone like Jennifer Lawrence, she could play Stevie all the way through. Yes, I saw all the outlets picked up the comment and are making it seem like a jibe. All they want is for you to click. Michele |
