This. I just can't stand that song. But let's see what other think I suppose.

Ok, dang! We already moved on to "Trouble" so I'm going to leave it at these two for any who may want to catch up. So sorry about that...we got excited.

Hi and welcome to LB's forum! Sorry I missed your post. I completely agree with you re: the Sound Stage version as well. My personal favorite.

I think this is our BTFLCHLD who uploaded this one!

look, i will always defer to you when it comes to Lennon... BUT come on girl, and you know how much i love LB, but how can you compare
"imagine all the people living life in peace"
to
"come and keep your daddy warm"[yeah i know those are not the original lyrics but still]?

Well, he didn't say "daddy" on the original record, if that makes things any better.

Trouble. It's sounds better to my ears as an acoustic balled. it's not that that i disliked the original version, it's just that.......it was always just.......there. did not move me either way. Just....meh.

I never even go there with comparing the two men. I love Lindsey tremendously, but I'm not even going to try to put him anywhere on scale with my John. In any case, I was referring more to the popularity of said songs...you know, not really comparing their depth. Yikes. Lindsey definitely has his fair share of deep songs, but um...well, John kind of wrote the book on confessional, raw, soul-bearing songwriting.

Anyway, I do love "Trouble" and I could hear it again and again without getting tired. But elle has a point. Lindsey has written MANY better songs than that one- and would we agree that "Trouble" is probably his most well-known solo song (after HR)?

I kind of like the "come and keep your daddy warm" lyrics better...don't ask me why.

Really? I always thought most people loved the original best. Wow, I'm reading all these ppl unimpressed. Very interesting.

Here's the real question, Mick...

Could you imagine Bryan Ferry singing this song?

With his new wife. Oh snap.
