Smile I'm Hooked

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but after years & years of watching All My Children (which the scums of ABC cancelled), I am now hooked on The Young & the Restless. I used to schedule my lunch from work @ 1:00 so I could watch AMC & let my dog out, but now I start @ 12:30 so I can watch The Young & the Restless & let my dog out. There are so many soaps stars on there from other soaps that I feel like I know them anyway. I still don't know who all is related to who & who everyone is, but I sure hope they don't get cancelled, too.

Lee

I wonder if Genie Francis to going back to General Hospital (which I still which from time to time) now that her marriage to Jack is off.

I stopped watching soaps back in the early 90's but here the past couple years or so I will pause the channel if I'm home and I catch Billy Miller on The Young and the Restless because I find him sexy and something about him just being an all American male to me. Cool simple and sexy.

In the summer of 1983, when I was 9, I was moderately addicted to Guiding Light.

I'd be outside playing with the neighborhood kids, and at 3:00 my Grandma would yell down the street to tell me it was time for Guiding Light. Running towards home I would go.

A year later it was He-Man (which came on right after Santa Barbara).

I think for the most part we like different types of men Viv and that's ok. You like your bad boys and most of mine seem more of the clean cut wholesome type What I find appealing about Billy Miller is his simple guy next door good looks and charm. And he has nice eyes and I love his hair. I think he's adorable.

Back in the late 90's/early 2000's when I was laid off, I got so addicted to "Passions". It was not like your normal soap opera, and it was just so cheesey! I was really mad when they cancelled it! The entertainment value was great! There were witches, monsters, demons, and old lady psychotic lesbian lovers; at one point there was even a mermaid. Anyone else get into that one back then?

When I was a kid my great grandmother called and told us we better “watch out for that Roger Thorpe, he’s a bad bad man.” I remember being worried but my dad explained that he wasn’t a real man & granny was confused. Several years later, around 1994, I started "watching my sto-ries" with my grandmother. Family tradition pasted along, expect Roger was dead for real that time on the show…or was he? I don’t know. I do remember being hooked on the whole Matt and Vanessa thing. Oh man did I love the whole May/December thing.

I've been watching General Hospital since like 79/80 the head people at ABC/Disney make me sick. GH is the ONLY show I watch on that network & when its gone I'm gone. They are slime balls putting on crappy shows that you can watch on any other channel down the dial. I didn't watch AMC/OLTL since the 80's but I've always watched GH . Honestly, they could've saved 'those' shows 'if' they'd wanted to. Personally, I think it was there plan all along to get rid of characters that people have loved & ruining the history of these shows. They wanted the rantings to tank so that could be there 'excuse's to cancel them. They could've cut all them down to 1/2 each but still have great storylines /characters. Heck cut in down to 1/2 hr have the cast only work say 6 months instead of the 12 they do now....TPTB could've saved them 'if' they wanted to the facts are is they don't. They make me sick. When they get rid of GH my viewer ship of ABC is gone. Sour grapes yes. GH was always a great show with a wonderful cast but they've slowing been killing it for the last 5-7 yrs at least. Jerks!! IMO anyway.

This made me smile. Your great grandma sounds like fun! Roger Thorpe, best soap villain, period. Soap Classics just came out with a 20 episode set of classic Guiding Light episodes. Not enough Roger related episodes, but I'm hoping they'll release more. There's a separate DVD of Reva Shane episodes, and also some box sets for As the World Turns.

I don't watch any of the remaining soaps. I wonder how long they'll last.
