I do love Oh Diane but of course I prefer Oh Daddy. In particular the version off Rumours disk 2. Stevie's harmonies are to die for and the bass is mixed in better.

I really think that Oh Daddy is one of Christine's best songs. I don't know if it's the music (the epitome of good late '70s music) or the sheer despair in the lyrics, or what, but it's mesmerizing. It's criminally overlooked.

I voted for "Oh Daddy" which ranks among Christine's most beautiful and memorable performances. The title might suggest sappy fest in the vein of children's music but once you listen to this stirring ballad you know it's special. On the other hand "Oh Diane" is nice but nothing special, it's kind of song that probably Lindsay wrote in one minute

I hate Oh Daddy, but I might hate it less if it hadn't become a concert staple. If it was just left as a track on the album, it might not have ruined my life.

Oh daddy is the track on Rumours I avoid or simply tune out of listening to even though I love Christine's voice on it.
Oh Diane is slight, light and frothy, yes, but I love it. |
