I'll post my top albums of the year. I can't do movies - I only saw one 2011 release - Melancholia - and I don't buy singles or really listen to the radio, so although I could name a few I doubt I could get to a top-ten without being reminded.
TEN BEST ALBUMS OF 2011 1. VELOCIRAPTOR!, Kasabian 2. EL CAMINO, The Black Keys 3. THE AWAKENING, James Morrison 4. IN YOUR DREAMS, Stevie Nicks 5. WORLD OF FUNK, Sean Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra 6. MINE IS YOURS, Cold War Kids 7. BORN THIS WAY, Lady Gaga (you know, I don't even own this - but I've heard enough to place it on my top-ten) 8. MISSION BELL, Amos Lee 9. ? 10. ? I am picky... 2010 and 2009 were much better years for music, for me, personally. TEN BEST SINGLES OF 2011 1. MOVES LIKE JAGGER, Maroon 5 2. 10,000 LOVERS, Ida Maria (Technically not even a single) ...and that's about it. I could pick singles from the abums I listed, but that seems repetitive. Good songs are easy - anyone can have a hit single - but it takes a true artist to create a whole album of great singles.

I haven't even BOUGHT ten albums this year (yeah, I know... combination of poor under-employed miser and terrible at actually paying attention to new album releases/new bands). I could do movies, but I'd need to figure out everything I've seen first.
