I am actually very surprised by this development- I really thought this was Stevie's turn in the sun. After all, she's the most nominated female artist to never receive a Grammy. Stevie's received the most positive reviews of her career for IYD, but sales have not reflected that. Low sales plus good reviews are usually the perfect formula for an underdog Grammy win.

Oh well, I don't put that much stock into the Grammys anyway. The most absurd people sweep the awards every year, while some of the most talented artists out there will never receive a nomination.

What kills me is these unknown names get nominated and win. Before they get nominated they sell a handfull of cds.If she goes back to the studio.it probably will be FM.which alot of us are hoping for.but FM will get overlooked next year or the year after.

The Grammy's are as contrived as any awards show. I wouldn't worry too much about her not being nominated. Her fans, critics and Stevie know "In Your Dreams" is an amazing album...

As much as I feel that FWIW should have absolutely been submitted over Secret Love, Stevie's chances of being nominated were bleak, being that she didn't work with a "hot and in demand" artist to produce and record the album. TISL was star-studded and although POTU didn't have any special contributors, the fact that the album had so many big names attached to it helped to move it along in that regard. As talented as Dave Stewart is, he's not the kind of producer who is capable of pushing Stevie to that recognition level.

I see your point, but I think she would have at least eeked out one nomination, maybe for vocal performance, if she had submitted something else (FWIW is a good example.) I LOVE Soldier's Amgel, but her voice is pretty nasally & I wouldn't say it's her best vocal performance on the album.

I like what you said...right on. I go one step further with Stevies obligatory to her people, the biz people. I have a hunch that her biz and promotion people were still in Jr High. I wouldn't say she was a musical risk...but budget for her is probably slim and sadly bleed.

But hey...in the end its her throwing out a line or 20 (no pun haha) for those that have been loyal forgiving loving masses of fans.

I have to say if Adele is all 2011 had to offer then it was a pathetic year. I like Adele but she is not extroidinary by any means. I'm glad I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Something exciting was always happening to music. Classic Rock, Disco, Punk. The invention of the synthesizor. It's all stale now. People are just repeating the same thing over and over again. The 90s had grundge, rap, hip hop. The last 10 years have been awful. There is nothing exciting out there. Katy Perry is just a retread.

People keep saying that music is not selling because of the internet. That's not the only reason. It's STALE. There is nothing happening. No excitement. People have to scrounge for stars.

Stevie Needs to do a full fledged Country album and cross over to country I think if she wants to win a grammy she would just fit into country very well I think. I don't watch any of the award shows anymore for a while last time saw award shows was when she was on the grammys with taylor swift in 2010 it was just to watch that performance.

this is Adele's year.I rather see her then some rap.hip hop artist get a Grammy. As I remember at the ebnd of stevie concerts when she makes the statement about please help the music industry. As far I know It died in the late 1980's and the 1990's when rock was thrown off the mainstream charts for rap hip hop crap.Country music started to replace soft rock.Again I will appoligize if I offend anybodies favorite music likings. If the music industry keeps producing skeet like they been doing for the last 20 years.I wont buy a cd or download a tune from a new artist.

I agree 1000 percent on this.I've been saying this for years.Taylor has cleaned up all of the awards plus she is now the Billboard artist of the year. Time to give it a try Stevie.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see Stevie going country helping her at all. She is already pretty country, so I don't think marketing an album as a country album is going to turn many heads. Taylor Swift was actually a fluke in the way that she became so popular amongst preteens, teens and young adults. Swift was young enough and pop enough to get popular, it wasn't her country genre which made everyone love her.

I think Stevie's time has come and went when it comes to selling a huge number of records. However, I think she is sort of getting a great send off and ending her career on a great note. She will not go gently into the night... To me, In Your Dreams is a great 80s record... After years of blah, we finally get a solid, crystal clear album that more to do with solid songwriting, then small sounding dribble...

I agree and dis-agree on that .50-50 percent . but It would not hurt her if she try the waters of an another gender.

if she went country now, it might seem like she is pandoring for sales like Jessica Simpson, she should write her book, get that movie made, then her sales will sore... She has managed to be very lucky solowise, she has outlasted many solo artists...
