Yes, the hair that he has is still curly and relatively thick (at least the curl gives the illusion of thickness), so if he did one of those comb overs, it wouldn't look as bad as it does on guys with thin, flat hair. He could easily take the hair that's there and brush it forward, to cover more of his head. But I guess he's decided to play it as naturally as possible. And to do things upright, as a nod to his freak side.

This is just how his hair was on the We Are The World video - he's standing in the back row of the chorus and you can tell it's him from a mile away just from the high hair!

What is this obsession with Lindsey needing to look younger? Die his hair brown? Hide his hairline? Seriously? No offense to anyone personally, but I find it really disgusting. The guy is in his sixties, looks FANTASTIC for that, or any adult age, and couldn't be a more youthful person in his personality and behavior, but we must also have him look young? Why? Because we are obsessed with youth?

Throughout his public life he has done crazy things with his hair, and just because it is now grey and farther back, why must he abandon his youthful playfulness with his appearance in order to actually appear to be younger? Why should he do everything he can to look younger, and why would he even want to? It isn't as if he wasted his youth, or is some grumpy old man with a pot belly and bad posture, with boring art. He is Lindsey Buckingham! He'll have crazy hair because he wants to and can, and isn't that part of why we all love him?

He is 62! I think it is great that he still actually has a desire to play around with his looks, which is reflected in the way he also plays around with his art. Playfulness is generally associated with youthfulness, and for him I think it comes naturally, I would hate to see him trying to look young in order to - in order to what? Seriously?

WeepingWall, I really dig your post!

You're SO right and I am a little ashamed if I gave the impression that I want to change anything about LB's look. I know I said he could brush his hair down, but I'm really happy with his hair color (and honestly his hair style is REALLY growing on me; after seeing him 6 inches away from me, I can say to you all he is a VERY handsome man with practically perfect features STILL). I personally find it gorgeous. And you're right, he is SUCH youthful guy. When I saw FM in concert I couldn't believe how much like a little boy he was. You can have the most perfectly line-free face, and all the "enhancements" up the wazoo but nothing is going to enhance a dull, "old" character. LB is a dichotomy. On one hand, he's very serious, dedicated, organized, and intense. But on the other hand, he's like a little child who likes to bounce up and down and hear people scream his name, and act silly and crack jokes and laugh at himself.

I sort of love him. And I know some people like to say he looks like Garfunkel or Micheal Richards or [insert person with big hair] but I'm going to say, for the record, that all those men WISH they had one iota of his brilliance and beauty. Sorry. I can't get over the Garfunkel thing. He is so plain. And people are always bringing him up.

It's all good.

I mean no harm personally.

Yeah, I don't really think anyone is being too harsh at all. And I have a feeling tongues are firmly planted in cheeks with much of it. When it comes to LB, everything is game for analysis.

Still though, I don't want my thoughts being interpreted as criticisms because, really, he IS 62. And not many 62 year-olds have their game together like this fellow.

Oh, it's not age discrimination. If he was 35 and had that hairline I'd still wish he didn't. Unleashed tour hairline was fine though.

The young men who shave their hair? Don't like that either. I don't like heads.

i loved SYW and UTS hair, but didn't like Unleashed or GOS tour hairline at all. his bald spot in the back just didn't sit well with me. glad he listened to me and is covering it now with lots of hair

- unfortunately his hairline developed different problems in the meantime...

i love your whole post - it is sad how our culture has become obsessed with looking youthful instead of just being youthful. i have tons of respect for lindsey for not having any work done, to his face or with his hair, but just aging gracefully - especially in LA culture where he lives and works, that seems to be pretty rare.

plus, let's face it, when you see him up close, he is still just gorgeous!!

This. All of this. LB may not have the same perfect hair he has graced us with for years, and he isn't a line-free boyish looking thing in his 20s/30s/shoot 40/50s but he looks HELL of a great for a guy of his age...I'd love to see people his age do what he does on stage every night. Shoot, people half his age.

Oh... I forgot weight is off limits, especially
on a woman.

I kind of doubt that Lindsey has the power to
withhold the hand of time and stop his male pattern
baldness.

Coincidently, he started losing his hair fairly late in
life. Don't suppose he had testosterone shots to
help...? And could that have lead to what seems
like a rapid loss of hair?

As long as he doesn't become Larry from The
Three Stooges, I'd say he's doing pretty good
for a 62 year old man.
