She still looks pretty heavy but she's wearing a short sleeve something or other and you can see her arms (hey, that's rare). She appears very confident and comfortable. She sang and danced her heart out and seemed fierce at times and over emotional at times as well. It's just a great show!!!
The videos on youtube are pretty bad but you get the idea (I would love love love to see better footage!). HAEWAFY made me cry. So emotional... I love her..all of her...through the good and bad, thick and thin, frizzy hair and all.

Oh wait...what was the topic?? Haha. Sorry yall, just having a (much needed) moment!!
The 98 Woodstock show was amazing from start to finish. She put so much into every song, and seemed very happy and confident. I thought GDW and Rhiannon were particularly awesome!

A couple others:

Fall From Grace from the Blockbuster awards 2001 with Sheryl Crow; she hits the high note and the performance overall is intense
Angel from HBO special
Blue Denim from Letterman 1994 (the ending)
Twisted from Boston 1996

I would add the Gold Dust Woman performance from that Sheryl Crow and Friends special back in the late 90s or whenever it was. It was pretty fierce in my opinion.

They usually were but Stevie's weren't. I don't know how many other performers actually performed live but Stevie did. I think the backing track might have been pre-recorded though. I don't remember.

The backing tracks were definitely pre-recorded, but the vocals were 100% live. The only other performer I saw singing live on Solid Gold was Deborah Harry, and she was actually the guest host for the entire hour. She did a very off-pitch rendition of "The Tide Is High."

Have to agree with Gold and Braid, Sisters of the Moon and that GDW with Bob Welch. Have to agree with Silver Springs from the Dance.

So many considerations including IMO, her performance of Ebony Eyes with Bob Welch at Cal Jam.

Can ballads be fierce too?
If so, what about BATB with the orchestra in Melbourne in '06?
Also, Landslide with Lindsey on Letterman in '98.

Love that video. She is the absolute quintessence of the '70s SoCal rock-chick-goddess there.

That would top my list of fiercest moments. It was epic!

All my life I've never seen a woman taken by the wind like Stevie did.

What about that one song she did with Buckingham Nicks in Tuscaloosa/Birmingham in '75? In fact, a few of those feature her just growling & wailing superbly.

Gold Dust Woman from The Dance. She nailed the scream, and how she sang "shadoww, she's a draagoonn!" gave me chills. Still does.
