Oh, your review had me laughing so much, especially when you said "some hobbling, some not." Hey, Lindsey fans are old, but intense. No wonder that policewoman thought she was a member of SWAT.

I would have loved to hear Lindsey's asides about police brutality. Maybe they have to be more vigilant at casinos. Maybe robbers attack concertgoers. Who knows . . .

I share your opinion about UTS and the alphabet. Hey, I wanted to yell Sardonic World out to him, now that it's been gone a few years.

You know, a part of me is proud of them when they keep a song in the setlist just because of personal preference, even though it's not a crowd favorite. But honestly, I'm not asking LB to delete UTS, but maybe Brett could put it somewhere else in the setlist. I don't think it should be the first band song.

Good job on working your way down to first row!

[QUOTE=GarboSpeaks!;1024714]I was able to make it to the Shelton show last night. Second row end seat. I figured in no time I'd be upfront. Security was milling around and before the show two guys on my side with passes (they worked for the casino I believe) kept being approached about how to obtain passes. I love listening to storied attempts. Who could blame a person.

He DOES have a presence...well put! And even more so up front...every fan should experience that. But as far as the crowd being dull at first, I felt the opposite. I thought the crowd looked and sounded ready to party from the get-go. When Linds initially came out it was really dark on stage. We started clapping but then saw arms ( no jacket! ) and weren't sure for a split second if it was actually him - lol. Then his hair became visible in the lights and he got a wonderful reception! People were cheering and yelling loud after everything. But still, once Lindsey went off on the security guards it got especially fun

UTS has never been a favorite of mine, but in concert, with the three guitars together it's pretty damn awesome. I love the way they're playing it

Re. going up front, my sisiter in law was front row way to the left but there were some empty seats closer to center ( brokers? ). She slid over right away, and tried to get us up with her from the 4th row left/center, but our seats were actuall really great, so we stayed put. I'm a little shy about sitting in the front row. After Illumination though, we bolted for the stage with most of the first several rows - and got right up front.

I am guessing you were way to right of me, cause it seemed a bit more lively over there. On my side (by the curtain) pretty mundane. I also got there about 10min before showtime, so I didn't see too much activity, eagerness before hand. And making it to the front row wasn't too much of a stretch. I was actually more surprised to ssee that my end seat 2nd row didn't get snatched. The people just up off the floor to my right easily could have made their way a tad closer w/ no problems from security. But after a while, being up front, I stopped looking back. lol
I did take a lot of pics when Lindsey was to the left (probably on your side) whomever was over there, I betch I got some shots of you guys. I hope so. Its always fun to get crowd shots.

Me too

Ya know I always wondered what I'd do if i got THATCLOSE to him. I read about people grabbing his leg or whatever, and I'd think, hmmm, I don't know But when he's right there, he's so compelling. You just need to have any connection you can get. So I held his leg...and also hoped some of his sweat would make it to me while he was shaking his head - lol!

You were probably over by my sister. That row kept moving over closer to center - as was the right thing to do! It was so great being up dancing with all those people, so I'm really glad you made it away from the sides and up by the stage and I look forward to seeing your pics!!

I was at the Shelton, WA concert. Lindsey was on fire!!! My husband and I made it up to the stage once he talked to security guards. I was up in front near the speakers, left of Lindsey. Was a lot of fun! I finally got to "play" the guitar! I was on cloud nine!! As a longtime fan, it was one of the best concerts I have been to! The audience was GREAT!!! Everyone seemed to be in a good mood and then when we all got to go up to the stage it was pretty crazy in there. A lot of fans!

I was one of the women that policewoman tried to push back the seats. I walked over closer to my hubby and stayed put after GYOW. My hubby is A LOT bigger than the policewoman. haha He was not happy she grabbed my arm though and she was trying to lead other people away from the stage too.

Those pics are FANTASTIC. Really, LB has such a great body for a man of his age. Not gonna lie.

The lights went down and Lindsey walked out. Such a presence to be sure. Thing is, you could hear a pin drop and I thought uh-oh, it's going to be a dull night crowd wise.
I could never tire of hearing SUD. Live, it just resonates. It's an odd opener, bit a poignant one, and if you know the song (lyrics) I think it opens very well. Others that may not have known it seemed to like it all the same. GI, Trouble, NGB & BL seemed to get everyone going, but still no "stage approachers." What was pissing me off (but well, can't say that cause it was to my advantage) is that the front row kept getting smaller and smaller. People were leaving left and right in the front areas. I asked the people in front of me if I could move up (there was an end seat in front row) and they said sure. As the front row kept dwindilling, we kept scooching over, and by mid show I was front row...close to center!
UTS, sorry not a favorite, but at the same time, Lindsey could recite the alphabet, and I'd pay good money to see it. AMS though is one of my top 5 LB songs, so that was a treat.
You could tell that LB is very proud of his new work, and worked them w/ vigor. IOOT & Illumination (catchy as hell) brought out the best in him. (imho ofcourse).
It had to have been for SHN that the girl (maybe the ledgie??) came out and she was waving her hands for people to get up, and she's jamming to the song. I am so far to the other side of stage, and I'm kinda following suit, but I have no idea how mundane the crowd is going to continue to be, and last thing I need is for some high roller to approach me about "I got these seats comped, so sit the f down." lol (casino's are NOT my favorite place to see a show. Nightmare past experiences would be an understatement!) The guard crossed the front, and shooed her away, and LB just followed the action while singing, and I thought whoa doggy, that security guard is getting the look of death. (Have to give credit where credit is due, that guy was a peach, he just works there and does what venue tells him.) By end of song, when security crossed back, is when LB stopped him, but the security didn't see it, and people were like hey man, LB is calling you. lol. He got whatever earful LB gave him, and the stage was set...so to speak, and next thing you know, Tusk has a full frontal crowd! OH YEAH!
Tusk ends, and LB reiterates that he's going to do some more new stuff, and how nice that'll be since "you all are on your feet now!" SAC, EOT, TWLG are all met with cheers and many singing along.
Whereas I have been there done that for many a Stevie solo show and could never hear certain songs of hers again, I am unsure that could be said for SA. Its such a powerful piece and Lindsey's delivery of the song is always powerful and somehow different. The intesnsity...ugh. LOVE IT!
I guess it was during GYOW that the Police showed up. Yes, real police, well she was dressed like one. Everyone in the crowd was being so polite, there was some pushing but it was just the crowd surging, not like PUSHING. Hard to explain, but rest assured UBER low-key! I see this policewomans face and her expression, you'd think she's dealing with The Altamont concert crowd. She's pushing her way thru, and bringing casino security into formation yelling that we "all need to move back...move BACK!" This woman SERIOUSLY had her tampon in sideways tonight. Lookimg and acting ANYTHING but the trained professional she is supposed to be. One concert goer commented "look lady, half of this crowd is over 50. They are all about to leave anyway..and hobble off at that!" Cracked me up. She wasn't having it and proceeded to assert her authority. Oy! So now, I'm behind a stage tower. I had been semi between Brett and LB. (Funny, Brett had taken a sip of beverage at one point, and set it back on the table, and it spilled all over onto floor, I caught his eye, and was pointing at it. Lots of electricity up there, didn't want him getting a free perm. lol he spotted it, thanked me, and put a towel over it. Man if that was booze, bummer on the loss Brett
Anyway, LB is NOT amused at the new stage front chain of security and cops and makes note of it in his words here and there. Mentioning police brutality and other snarky, but well deserved comments. Especially at a casino, if this is "ruly" then sign me up.
The encores as you all know were performed w/ LB asking if we want more, and attendees shouting yes, MANY. SWS was especially pertinent in Lindsey's mind what with the aforementioned police attendence. Still, they couldn't get everyone away and he had a crowd of loyal, interested, respecting fans. Perfectly awesome.
When the show was over, the lights came up, and LB wasn't even all the way off the stage. BAM! It's over. And just as quickly the crowd disappeared. Some hobbling, some not. lol. A scant few stayed in attempt to get a set list, and stage hands were like "we can't." WTF?! Cause um, LB is going to come back? Not to this place I betcha. When one woman tried to take LB's set list, you'd think she was robbing Fort Knox. A stage hand was all over her. "NO!!!" Ugh, seriously. What the HELL?! I kept straggling as long as I could and one of the guys that had been to my right at the beginning, I asked him what the hell the deal was about the set lists. I get them all the time, and I don't see why the staff here was being so adament about not handing them out. He said he had no idea, and to hold on, and he saunters over to where Neal's is still adhered to the stage, and says hold on, some one will get you one, there are still some left. He says he can't do it for me, but not to worry. Very polite. And sure enough, a stage guy (not so bad on the eyes no less) gets Neals setlist and hands it to me. Very kind.
I went out to get some merch. Staff was not joking about clearing the place out. Even outside I heard one guy barking orders, "if they aren't in line for merch, get them out of here!" WOW. I get my stuff, ponder if I ought to salute the security, opt not to, and make my way to the car. I pull closer to the venue, and go to wait with the crowd, knowing full well it's futile, but would have been nice to see Neal or Brett.
The wait was brief. Neal & drummer who's name has escaped me (drummers are having this problem as of late...long story)passed me by, and I told them the show was great, and thanked them. Curteous as always. Lindsey came out, waived and was on his way. Such is life. It was cold outside. lol. Great show.
(Trying to add some pics and video, but they are too large, and I have little to no programs on my laptop to mess with them. I'll see if a FB friend can adjust them to add here.)

Loved your review too! I am dying laughing here but so true what you wrote.
I am over 50 and wasn't hobbling. At least I hope not! LOL The black security guard standing at left of stage was VERY nice. He and my hubby had quite the conversation while I left them and went to front of stage. The policewoman acted very much like you said above. LOL She thought she had something to prove. We tried to get a set list and they kept saying NO!!! We left and I didn't even see merchandise but my hubby said anything sold that the casino probably got some money so I'd rather buy merchandise from Lindsey's website or elsewhere. I really dislike casino shows but it was for Lindsey.

Vancouver ROCKS!!! 10/22/11:

Lindsey looked right at me several times...best was at "with you on my mind" during Stars are Crazy. Surreal when he does that!

Canned speeches were modified quite a bit. Changed it up - same idea but definitely different wording. He seemed really relaxed and more impromptu.

Before band intros he bonked his face on the mic. Very cute. The intros were hilarious. Brett said "along with the Cuban, the Englishman and myself"... somethingsomething, Lindsey Buckingham!" Lindsey and Brett talked about Brett's shirts and that he had a lot of them - that he was a snappy dresser. They were all kinda giggly - almost giddy. Then as Lindsey turned away from audience he kinda lost his balance or tripped on the cords and landed on his butt, almost doing a backward somersault!! I saw his whole back!! he kinda rolled backward onto his shoulders, legs in the air, and his shirt fell down...he has a nice back - really, he does He finished the fall gracefully though and then ended up in a Indian style sitting position, and then sorta joking like he was going to start the song from there. But then he got up swiftly and easily and launched right into Treason.

Afterward when they all stood together they were kinda pretending to be tripping Lindsey - sorta horse playing. Really cute - I swear they all got high before the encore ( if they weren't already ). GYOW had an extended ending I hadn't heard before!!!! First, after shark walk and tapping on Wally's cymbals he tusked with Neale then went over playfully toward Brett and then really instead of the usual ending, they kinda kept banging the last note. COOL.

Not a lot of standing ( definitely some, though ), I think due to theatre/venue set up seemed more like a sit and listen place. The theatre was gorgeous...really impressive. Even though they didn't stand a lot, the crowd was VERY energetic, LOUD and appreciative. Lots of love!! Lindsey was really relaxed and smiled a LOT. Joked around a lot and joked more than usual. Also during a few songs he looked to the heavens as he does sometimes, but more I think tonight. Seemed more emotional on some of the songs - even more than usual.

During opening acoustic set ( Big Love ), when shaking his hands out he gave them an extra shake that got a cute laugh from crowd. Lindsey laughed at the laugh and then did another VERY exaggerated shake of his right hand sort of stage left to right across the audience. Funny and kinda goofy. He has the sweetest way about him.

I, too, was blinded a LOT by the lights. I was looking directly into them! His guitars are very shiny also I shoulda wore shades!!

Overall just really in a groove and good feeling all around. Beautiful venue. Security nice. Only downfall was the orchestra pit separating him from us

All the new songs were very well received!! Audince clearly enjoyed them!!

Also,
-Go Insane was ridiculously good. He was MAJOR intense on finale, violently stomping his right foot to the beat. COOL!
- SHN really fun.
- Turn It On sounded better than at Saban. Way better.
- IOOT is still DA BOMB live. Just electrifying...
- TTWTLG !!! <333 the solo just soars and makes me stupid happy

Lindsey's voice is very strong!! He looked freakin' great. Photos and videos here, and on Youtube and all just don't even come close to how great he looks and sounds in real life.

Hell yeah!!!! AWESOME CONCERT!!

Oh, couple more things. When we got to stage door there was already a bus in front of venue...I guess it was equipment and crew. We went to the back and there were people there waiting. after a bit, we saw a big, dark bus go by towards the front - FRONT!...so just like at Saban we went sprinting around the building to the other side, all of us. The bus was about to parallell park, but a tree branch was hanging out to far, and I guess they didn't want to scratch the pretty bus, so one of the crew from the venue jumped into the tree and pulled/jumped onto that branch - pulling it down with one crack...a good size branch too! And, sooo...they parked. Wally was first out after LB's manager guy ( white hair ). I almost didn't recognize him he was so skinny!! But I said hi, and he smiled and went in. Then LB came out and didn't even look up. Just sped inside. I think if he had made eye contact he would have felt committed, and he seemed in a hurry...so nothing : (

Neale and Brett came out next and were sweet and social with everyone, so it was all good.

Then, after the show there was a HUGE group out front by the bus waiting. On one side it was so funny, we had what looked like a receiving line at a wedding reception! Just single file in a big arc from the door to the bus ( bigger group opposite of us, and some behind us too. ) Well, Lindsey came out and blew past us again, but he did kinda follow the path of the arc and smiled at least, sort of acting silly...but didn't stop. We were all applauding of course.

And that was it. No stopping to meet the fans, but the concert, was so, SO GOOD! When he asked if we wanted one more, someone yelled two more! Then I said, three! Someone else yelled just start over, which made him do a double take, and he said "start over?!!" It was funny.

Seeds We Sow, btw, was stunning. The tatatas were so emotional, kinda lower register. And I don't think it's 'cause they've grown on me, since I usually skip that song - but they sounded so right last night...would not have been the same without them!! Go figure. I don't skip that one anymore!

Shelton, WA. 10/23/11:

I wasn't expecting as much from the casino crowd, but still was happy to be going there. It's kinda out of town quite a ways, and I figured it would be mostly casino drop-ins. My sister in law, after going to Vancouver with me, is now a convert. About half way through that concert, she asked me, "you have two extra seats for tomorrow???" I did, so she went again! She was totally impressed and loves his lyrics and everything...just blown away.

OK so...Shelton. WOW.You could tell IMMEDIATELY that the rocker crowd was in the house. Leather jackets everywhere It was full, and wild. And then Lindsey walked out in the shadows, and I was like, that's him!! People weren't sure at first 'cause it was dark, and he wasn't wearing his jacket!!! He looked great!!! His hair was perfection tonight, and he looked really fine in the t-shirt and jeans. The crowd was exuberant and really giving great feedback after every song. He had to feel loved.

Somewhere around POI a girl went up front and was then shooed away by guards. After the song, Lindsey called the guard over in front of everyone. He got down and told them something...clearly that he was just fine with fans being up there! SHN followed, and a few people started going up. I was there with my SIL and another friend, so we all sprinted up, and it was like kids at the opening of a brand new candy store!! Men, women, old and young were like sardines up there. All the girls around me we were dancing together and swooning together lol! God I was right at his feet for So Afraid, and GYOW, and eveything actually from TUSK on!!! I was hopping and dancing to TTWTLG - my favorite!!!

This is not my video, but was shot right over my head:

OK, so I told you he made that eye contact in Vancouver during Stars Are Crazy, but when I was up front in Shelton he walked slowly towards us ( me ) while playing the guitar, and was absolutely staring me down. I tried not to look away, but he just has such a presence, and his eyes...god! He did this a couple times!!!!! VERY intense!!

He has a nice leg, and it's unreal how he just lets you grab and hang on while he just jams away. I held his leg and then his boot, and then his leg again, during So Afraid, and then played his guitar of course, on GYOW. Just strummed away happily. I touched the back of his guitar too! That crowd was literally jumping and going nuts.

The security tried to make us sit back down after GYOW, but nobody was listening. I told the two guards next to me they should just give in, and join us! They laughed and pretty much agreed.

So then, during TIO I could see him looking down for the words, which I completely understand as they are quite a mouthful. It wasn't obvious to everyone though, and they really do a nice job on it..

Seeds We Sow...people were singing along like an anthem. Singing the whole thing, and especially on the tatatas in a mesmerizing sort of way...really into it...really digging it. I don't remember how he worded it, but he said at the beginning of SWS that he should dedicate it ( not dedicate, but...kind of apply it to ) to the security forces handling of protesters...something, but it was clear what he meant.

It was almost sensory overload that close. Didn't know whether to look at his guitar and hands, his face, his eyes, or just all of him...I couldn't believe I was really that close and could touch him - a lot.

I just love him

I'll post some photos soon.
This whole review is PHENOMENAL. I loved it, all of it. And I am laughing. Oh LB...

Jealous beyond belief. I was so bummed when I realized my front row seats meant very little when I saw the massive impenetrable barricade in front of the stage. To have him so close yet so far away was awful. Esp during ISA and GYOW. He looked at me like "Jump over" during GYOW but I was too chicken and didnt want to get kicked out, lol. I scaled the barricade after to beg a roadie for the pick LB dropped tho. I got it!!!!

THIS comment from the GYOW video on Youtube (posted above):

I was standing right behind the security guard. He (Lindsey) said "get out of here". Then he flipped him off right in his face and said FU! several times and then yelled, "GO" several times during his solo. It was awesome.

Awesome, indeed

I feel for you When I saw the barricade I thought how out of place it was at an LB show How great would that have been if you HAD jumped it during the concert!! Lindsey probably would have loved it!
