I think CAH was beautiful in her youth. I haven't seen any recent pictures of her.

I don't think Kristen is particularly striking in any way. She's pretty but in a very average sense (again in my opinion), she has nice bone structure and all.

And Stevie is probably my biggest girl crush of all time.. probably my only girl crush, really. I think she was drop dead stunning back in the day and certainly her charisma added to that, like Michele suggested. But I think if I could have any face other than my own... I would choose hers, hah.

As if any of you care hahaha. But that's my opinion on the spectrum of beauty we've been discussing.
I like your entire statement. I agree with you wildhearted, beauty is a subjective thing.

To me, the ladies all have various levels of appeal. Stevie's is the strongest from what I know, but I don't really know much about the LB/Kristen connection other than he has been on a huge bolt of creativity since he has been with her, and that I thank her and that gorgeous family for.

Now, to me, completely from day one I have always found LB to be the most ravishingly stunning person in the band. I fell for him when he was older/gray-haired and dancing like a loony on the "Live In Boston" stage. He has it all: amazing talent, stage charisma, energy, youthfulness, and a certain boyishness about him mixed with a little nerdy edge. His features aren't attractive, they're gorgeous. Having met him and he stood right in front of me I can understand why his eyes have been a source of admiration/love/inspiration for many women. Stevie sings about them, CAH wrote about them, and even Anne Heche I believe was struck when he took off his sunglasses. He's quite an enigmatic man and he is what has kept my FM love going- well, what got it started at all quite frankly.

Still, I wish you could see that CAH vid of her getting plastic surgery. Then you'd have more of a recent visual to compare from.

Really?! I honestly think that in her prime, Stevie was one of the most beautiful women around. I've never thought she was sexy, though.

Who has a picture of Kristen at her best? I think I know what she looks like and I remember her to be really pretty.

Oh, I think there is an objective standard of beauty. For instance, objectively, I suppose Brad Pitt is attractive. When classic lines and symmetry come together, I think that a majority of people can agree they look beautiful. I don't think of him that way, but I "get" that people do. I just don't like those types.

Same thing with Robert Redford. I see nothing there. On the other hand, a guy that I once loved in my youth, Jack Wagner, is often compared to Robert Redford. I totally see Jack Wagner's appeal, but that's probably because I "lived" with him every day when he was a soap opera actor. I knew his sense of humor, his mannerisms, even the different qualities of his voice, soft, strident, teasing. To me that made him gorgeous in a way that a man that other people compare him to (Redford) just isn't.

I think Gillian Anderson is "gasp, my heart can't take it" beautiful. But I know that objectively she must not be, because I remember that she was in existence before I ever noticed her and she just didn't stand out for me. Once I fell in love with the character she played, I thought I had never seen eyes that exquisite or heard a voice that melting before in my entire life. I find myself rewinding tapes just to see different expressions in her eyes and what was hilarious to me is that listening to the audio commentary for the X-Files movies, the producers were sitting there doing the very same thing.

But I do think there is a look that most disinterested, uninvolved observers will find pleasing, whether or not I agree with them. I think there is an objective standard -- which changes from generation to generation and culture to culture. If we saw the real Cleopatra or Helen of Troy today, I doubt that we would be impressed. But I do think there is a look that (never a uninanimous crowd) but an overwhelming majority will agree is good looking.

To me, you can't really beat Monica Bellucci when it comes to beauty. And I thought this before they named her the "most beautiful woman in the world" in some dumb poll. I think exterior beauty is objective in the world we encompass, but the kind of beauty that goes deeper than that is purely subjective. It's like that saying, "to the world you may be just somebody but to somebody you may be the world."

Ha. In most pictures, Kristen has that deer in the headlights look that doesn't do her justice. What surprised me in Lindsey's Bass video was how, innocent she looked. I think I expected her to be harder somehow. But she was soft and shy kind of, as he chased her around the house.

Things like her leaving him and Jeff alone as she headed for the airport and Lindsey demanding a kiss. There was a light and youthfulness there that revealed facets that I had not imagined before.

Obviously, having video of someone does give you a better understanding of their features, from different angles and refracting various emotions.

I remember years ago I used to look forward to People's annual "Most Beautiful People" magazine, not only to see who they selected, but because they always gave them such alluring poses. Many times, the photographs were more beautiful than the people.

I didn't usually think much of most people in the magazine, but I do remember they named two people on my own list, Gillian Anderson and Kristina Wagner (the former wife of the aforementioned Jack Wagner).

Funny you say this. I think Monica looks quite a bit like Isabelle Adjani, who I regarded as the reigning Most Beautiful Woman from 1975 to 1997. And in a few polls recently (LA Times? Time? something...), Isabelle was named most beautiful woman ever or something. So I think there must be something about that "type" which many find appealing. Also, I was also surprised to see Isabelle was so recognized. I thought it was a "me" thing (until 2005's 3 Dancing Slaves, I thought 1994's Queen Margot was the hottest movie I'd ever seen).

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

I know we're digressing but, yes, Isabelle and Monica look eerily alike, and both women are stunningly gorgeous.

Also, Michele, isn't Jack Wagner going to marry Heather Locklear, who I sometimes think looks a *tad* like Stevie (and I don't know why)? Anyway, Heather is always on those "most beautiful" People spreads, or was for a long time.

But back on-topic: in this book does anyone find the entire scene where LB took some Quaaludes from Stevie's purse hilarious? Like, I wish it was all ojn video. The things they did in their youth...man...

Yes, they are engaged. I don't think much of Heather's looks. I'd say Stevie is better looking than that. But it seemed like Heather had a great personality in the old days. With their senses of humor, I bet she and Jack were a riot together when they were both on Melrose Place. Now, it seems like she's hit a midlife crisis of sorts.

Someone here pointed out to me, based on looking at the awards show footage we have from that night, that the way they were sitting it couldn't have happened the way Carol described it. But yes, they must have had some wild times. I remember Marie Osmond saying that her son played a game with his friends where you just dumped out all of the drugs from your parents' medicine cabinets onto a table and then you just ingested them, whatever they were. That reminded me of some of the lurid tales from the seventies.

Really? I thought those two scenes felt totally staged. I got more of a "shy" vibe off her in the IWY video when she closed her eyes and turned her head away from the camera or in the NTL doc when she was sitting in the floor amidst the sea of decorating books and looked down as if she was wishing he would get the heck out of her face with the camera.

As it turns out, that's not Carol Ann. Dani wouldn't have posted it, nor would I have backed her up, had we not seen some extremely compelling evidence from a source we trusted. Believe me, no one could be more surprised than we. Apologies for the confusion.
Dammit! I knew it! I sad from jump that this wasn't her! Lol this is too funny though! Thanks for clearing this up! I feel so much better!!!
