PuLEEZE! This song so deserves to be here you conspiracy theorists!

YMBTO is great classic songwriting Plain & Simple! I've always contended that it has an Eagles air to it in the melody, esp the chorus, with those big sweeping D, C major chords.

My love for this song has nothing to do with it (allegedly) being about Lindsey, nor has it been crammed down mine or anyone's throats as Phoenix declared! How could it? It's buried at the end of the record (3rd to last song), Stevie has barely talked about it in great detail during interviews (outside of mentions of it being Dave & her 1st collaboration in the same room), Stevie has not performed it live or included it on her current tour, nor has it been brought up as a standout in any critical reviews. Fan's have deservedly connected to it all on their own. It was like finding a hidden treasure on the whole record. The lyrics resonate, they are universal, despite being about a certain somebody in Stevie's life. And finally, I completely disagree that the lyrics sound forced or sound sing-songy or sing-talky . There...I feel much better....rant over.

That all said...Moonlight is my favorite song on this record of sooo many favorite songs!

It is a classic, deep track that she should proud to have any of hers or Fleetwood Mac's albums.

Yes, I agree. Puts me in mind of 'Please Come Home For Christmas'. I like it hugely, and I think Loretta and Sharona sound terrific on it.

Yes! And yes again.

On the conspiracy subject: Stevie didn't even write Annabel Lee. It's just a poem she liked and set to music. If Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus or god forbid Lady Gaga had done this and had a huge hit with Annabel Lee, there would be so much trash talking about how uninspired and stupid the whole thing was. It hardly deserves to be in the top 2 let alone the top 5, in my opinion. Is it a good, fun song? Yes, it most certainly is. Is it as good as Moonlight, For What It's Worth or You May Be The One? No way. And finally, it's an utter and total travesty that For What It's Worth had to be sacrificed to (maybe) save You May Be The One. Give me Stevie's lyrics any day over someone else's words.

I never said anything about having it being forced down anyone elses throat but my own I did not say you SPECIFICALLY . I also said that if you connect with the lyrics personally I get that. But thanks for giving me no credit. Are usually agree with most of your posts anyway so I don't know what your problem is were usually on the same team. And I'd have been on the Very Crowded you may be the 1 super bandwagon, had curtis actually delivered his promise of kiss and over sweater action haha but as usual...nothing. but good god as long as moonlight with this s*** I don't really care what comes in second place. Except for it probably should've been for what its worth or annabel lee. In my humble opinion see how I stated in my opinion and not opinion of fact?

Wow holy boldprintedmyscreenname Batman.

Ok, my bad, you did specifically say it's being crammed down YOUR throat But its ire enough to suggest that people are "just obsessing over it because it is about her and freekin Buckingham" (That criminal talk around these parts) Or that " the verses are just her talking" with no inflection The song is great! It's ok, if you do not care for it, or think it's overrated. But a lot of us think it's pretty special.

To me, it is the greatest thing she has ever written. It speaks volumes to me. I can relate to every.single.word. It happened to me. I lived through it. I'm still living through it, and the pain and regret and sorrow and undying love will continue to be with me everytime I play this song.

Because in any of their hands it most likely would be all of those things .In a post before IYD was released I stated that the only female perfromers I could see doing Annabel Lee justice were Stevie and Kate Bush..I'm a late comer to Florence Welch but she might be able to pull it off as well..very talented girl.

I used to like it. that's the problem this poll has ruined the song for me and
SOME people DO like it for that reason alone though, shipper! Shipper! Shipper! And all that and whatever all that is about. All I wanted to say is th. at I did like the song, Until it kept surviving every single round, And how we had to all hear about how wonderful it is. That's when I started to not like the song.
I used to love it,
See a light inside it,
I had a dream that,
It was hailed as a pleasant lovely little song. Just not the greatest thing she has ever written the greatest vocal she has ever had the greatest vocal on the album or the greatest song on the album.

Well. THAT. is pretty much exactly How I feel about 4 what its worth.
On edit: even though I completely connect with for what its worth, I don't think it's her greatest song ever, not even on a personal level.

I guess I understand a little. You happen to not believe YMBTO deserves to be in the final four...or final six...or etc etc. It's all subjective and in good fun.
FWIW I am not a shipper skipper just running to the defense of one of my favorite songs from Stevie in a long long time.
