Yea! If you need tickets for the 9th, let me know. I have an extra pair that I will return if nobody here needs them.

I am not sure why you are so fixated on the proximity of airports to the Fillmore. You're not going to walk to the Fillmore from the terminal. Both SFO and OAK are well connected to the city via different modes of public and private transportation. At the end of the day, it's six or one half dozen. Regardless of where you fly in, you will be between 30 minutes and an hour away from downtown San Francisco depending on the mode of transportation employed. If you are expecting to catch a flight after the show, by all means go for it, but you will need to hurry no matter what.

All hotels are safe and none will kill you. The only difference really is in the views, decor and amenities. You will find bed bugs in budget motels as well as the Four Seasons. San Francisco is relatively safe for a large city; however, it is probably a good idea to stay out of the Tenderloin/Civic Center area at night if you are really skittish. Market Street is safe but noisy and congested. South of Market (SoMa) is "up and coming." The vast majority of hotels appear to be concentrated around the Union Square/Nob Hill area, which is a bit of a jog to the Fillmore. The closest hotels to the Fillmore appear to be in Japantown, particularly the Nikko, the Kabuki and the Best Western Tomo, none of which are exactly cheap. Sites like bookit.com may provide some savings on flight/hotel packages. Also keep in mind that October is the warmest month of the year in SF, and is also primetime for tourism in SF.

I'm kind of shocked that neither show has sold out yetIn a region teeming with gay folks and aging hippies.

Both airports (SFO and Oakland) are about the same distance from the Fillmore and you can take BART from both to the Civic Center BART station. I guess you'll be going to a hotel first. If you stay in a hotel somewhere downtown, it will be easy to get on BART. From there you can take a bus or even walk to the Fillmore (it would probably be about a 30 minute walk). If you are going to rent a car, definitely fly into SFO just because you won't have to cross a bridge. Traffic on the Bay Bridge can be really heavy at times. San Jose airport, which is sometimes also listed with other Bay Area airports, is much farther away. Also, if you fly into SFO, you can take Super Shuttle directly to your hotel for I think 20 bucks. BART to the city will be around 8 bucks.

I don't know much about hotels. Like the other person said, I'd stay out of the Tenderloin. If you want, if you use Expedia or something and want to send me 2 or 3 choices, I can check them out for you and tell you what I think. If you want to talk, let me know and I"ll send you my cell number.

I'm good. I'm trying to make this work. right now I can get a RT to Oakland for about 300 with taxes. I would stay right by the airport in Oakland and take the BART from the Oakland Colesium stop. Not sure if it's goig to work though. what prices are u encountering so far?
