The Mountain Winery is a brand new venue. It's a stunning place in the mountain overlooking the Bay Area. It is a place to spend the evening. Very upper-crest experience.[/QUOTE]

Hmmmmmmm, this sound nice too!! Will need to check this place out, but also would just LOVE to see her at the Fillmore tooooo. OH what to do? Both

The Mountain Winery shows will be the more conservative of the Bay Area shows. This venue appeals to the Silicon Valley crowd, so it will be a mixed bag of people; some there to see Stevie specifically and many casual/non-fans looking for a fun night out. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a bunch of Silicon Valley CEOs in the front row, maybe even Larry Ellison! There are a lot of expensive restaurants and places for wine tasting on site, so it's a different kind of concert experience, very mellow, but high-end.

It's hard to get up to this venue (literally driving up the mountains), so allow PLENTY of time for traffic. I'd suggest at least 90 minutes because I recall it being a single road for at least part of the way. Be sure to park by the entrance as it is EXTREMELY difficult to get out of the venue after the concert (this was not thought out very well). One way in, one way out. When I saw Margaret Cho there last year, it took almost an hour to exit the venue, much of time spent in the car not moving. I don't think there is any other easy way to get to this venue (e.g. public transit).

The Fillmore shows, on the other hand, will be the true rock and roll experience Given it's small size, it will be packed with just diehards. It's basically general admission, standing room only with very limited side seating on the first and and second levels.

I'm debating whether I'll go to the Mountain Winery show. But I'm definitely doing the Fillmore.

I KNEW this would happen! I even said it. If I go to NY she will announce CA dates thereafter. So you can all thank me, lol. Now how do I get more time off work? Ahhhhhhhhh.

What do you mean "brand new venue"? That thing is old. They've been doing concerts there since 1958 and it's a historical monument that winery.

Mountain Winery was in the news last year when a concert goer jumped to his death, landing directly on the stage during a performance by The Swell Season.

wow if that happened for something called The Swell SeasonI can only imagine the carnage that could ensue with all those fanatical chiffonheads in the audienceI think I'll stick to the Fillmore this time.

Sorry, not "brand new" but extensively renovated. The concert venue looks a lot different today than it did a few years ago. By adding more seating, I think they've attracted bigger names acts, like Stevie

The Mountain Winery is a great venue. It can be upper crust but isn't always. I went to see the Indigo Girls there last month and the crowd was really into it, singing songs, and even standing up and dancing. I also saw Cyndi Lauper there once and the crowd was totally into it. That said, the worse crowd I've ever been a part of was when I saw the Counting Crows there. Rich silicon valley jerks who didn't care at all about music. But with the economy the way it is, there is much much less of that.

Yes, it will be hard to get in and out, but it's like that for every show. Not hard, but you just have to be patient. If you get 3 people to a car, the $20 parking fee is reduced to $15. Also, it's all uphill, so if you get there late you will be in a long line. This has been a problem for my car, which isn't a automatic. So just plan accordingly. There is no public transportation and it isn't possible to walk because the venue is on the top of a very high hill/mountain.

The Fillmore is all standing room. I guess that people will start lining up early that day. I remember that when Tori Amos played there when she was super popular, people camped out over night to buy tickets because they were only selling them at the venue. In any case, it will be a fun line to wait in, I think. I'm going to try to go to two shows, I think.

If any of you are couchsurfers, you can find me there under the name Pattyfan in San Francisco. I might be able to put 1 or 2 people up for a night or two if you are coming for the Stevie shows. Contact me through that website.

OMeffingG, this is so cool. In all my wildest dreams (Stevism used on purpose) I never thought I'd see her at the Fillmore, and the Mountain Winery, well, that's just nuts.

Kevin

OMG we want to. I think we'd do Mountain Winery tho as Tod's not so into the whole General Admission thing. Are you going to Mountain Winery? We could have a Saratoga reunion...
