Gotta be "Thrown Down," don't you think? Given that we have two versions of that song floating around, one of which was leaked months before the album came out? And the album version was much more "Lindseyesque" than the Wall of Sound version.

Has anyone thought that perhaps it was the name of the album? She wrote Say You Will and maybe he did not want to name the album that because she wrote the title song...and that is why she says, "think of something else". That makes the most sense to me...thanks to cour..

Agreed. I think that if they'd really been fighting it would not be suitable for t.v. I'm sure those two can really go at it when they feel provoked.

That's a very good theory too.

She does say something to the effect of, "He's worried that everyone's going to think this is all about 'Stevie.'"
So when she tells him, "well, think of something else then," it very well could be in regards to the album title.

Default Boys and girls...

...would you care to perform a favour for us people who don't have any "access" to "All Access" or to VH1 whatsoever and don't know what are you talking about? Maybe re-construct the "argument" or something? It would be very helpful to understand this interesting discussion. Thank you very much.

I just watched it again and I think if it was about the album title, she thought he'd be opposed to it because it's a "Stevie Song", when I think he might have been opposed to it because the name of the song/album Say You Will is kind of generic for Fleetwood Mac. I was surprised they chose that name for this album, especiallly since the content doesn't really mirror the name, IMO.

I actually really like the album naming theory. It makes all the little bits and pieces we got fit into place. I mean, even in the context of choosing songs "Well then think of something else" really doesn't fit. Yes, it DOES fit much better in naming the album. Nicely done seeknpeace!

I was originally thinking it would have been one of the songs that didn't make the album, but the album title theory makes the most sense.

Lindsey didn't want "Say You Will" because it sounds too generic, kinda bland.

Stevie thinks that Lindsey *really* doesn't want "Say You Will" because "he's gonna hate it because *I* wrote it"...and "He's worried that everyone's going to think this is all about 'Stevie.' "

Some very good ideas...

If it is in fact a fight over the title, Lindsey shouldn't have caved. "Say You Will" IS a lame title!

Josh sodascouts and Cour,
You got it !!!It is about that sissy title...not masculine enough!
That sounds right as...Mick calls the music..."Ballsy"! So...Stevie is sitting on a huge red couch with Mick close by defending her!!!Don't for a little minute think he isn't an ex-lover! Mick wants you to think he's innocent! Remember...Their Secret Rumours Affair??

SOOOOOO...
Back on the subject...Mick is smiling at Stevie sitting bare foot & cross legged ...Lindsey is across the room with his ugly white t-shirt on...head back...face red...as they argue about a song!
Stevie defends her opinion! Fighting!!!To intrigue us for the tour?

IMHO: SYW has to be a tad about finances to pay all those ppl!!!

Okay...I rambled enough...your posts are very interesting to me!

I need to get to bed...that big stuffed dog moved! Luv Ya, Sky

Initially I felt 'Say You Will' was a lame title for a Fleetwood Mac album, but I've actually grown to like it quite a bit.
I love the imagery it conjures, and the implications that are aroused by that title.

I think it wraps up the overall vibe of the whole album in a nice little bow. The songs are all about love... whether it's love gone wrong ("Smile At You," "Come"), love that can never be ("Running Through The Garden," "Steal Your Heart Away"), lost love ("Say Goodbye"), love forgiven ("Thrown Down"), and on and on.

And I think that's where "Say You Will" comes into play.
The lovers have been thru a lot together... but they'll always keep coming back together.
Say you will... give me one more chance.

hahahahaha...I totally agree with everyones comments about the title, I think it has nothing to do with the album content.

Also, I want to be sure that you guys know that Cour turned me on to the Title thing...she is the seer in that. I love that the dog moved..made me smile. Been there in the wee hours..haha
