I feel that Ghosts Are Gone is more unique and its sound more catchy, distinct and diverse. To me, with Fall, Stevie tried to create with voice and emotion, the spark that a rock song should have built into its music.

I can't really compare these two songs because they are as different as night and day to me.

I prefer Fall From Grace because (I think) I understand what it's about; it speaks to me. I hear a whole story. I have no idea what she's trying to convey in The Ghosts Are Gone. I just cannot follow it. There doesn't seem to be much of a story, other than some people leaving something, somewhere, or someone.

So help me out. Who are the lost girls? Why plural? Who are the boys who are gone? Why plural? What do the lost girls and the boys have to do with each other? What the @#$% is this song about????!!!!

If I never hear another new lyric from her that contains the phrase "through the eyes.." I'll be quite happy.

I like it a lot too. One of my fav's off the new album. Definitely testosterone infused :P

Reminds me ALOT of a song from The Tragically Hip. Both lyrically & musically.

Hmm. I've never really given this much thought since I don''t care for the song too much, but since Stevie has said this song is about the ghosts of relationships past, my guess would be that those lost girls and boys are people from past releationships. The crushes, the troublemakers, the subject of fights and jealous fits, the secret (and sometimes not so secret) loves, the "other" man or woman, the stranger you pass on the street that looks at you like they know you from a past life and makes your head spin because you think about them for days or weeks.

Sometimes, all that fades away or gets put to rest. Then, you just see yourself for who you are, and who you've been in the past doesn't matter anymore. The ghosts are gone.

Ghosts Are Gone isn't a song I can listen to when I'm sat at the PC, but, it's a fantastic driving song. I put it on when I was driving home from work last night, normally a five minute drive, I ended up going out of my way to carry on driving, just to listen to the damned song as loud as I could.

Stevie has said in many interviews over the past decade that she sees herself as being all about ACDC and Led Zeppelin. In reality she really isn't. But I love that in her miond thats what she feels. Specifically in 05 right before her first vegas shows, she was telling Jim Ladd how her whole thing when she's rehearsing for her show, is I'm just like ACDC. I feel like wiht Ghosts are Gone she finally has lived up to that ACDC/Led Zepplin vibe that has lived in her head for years. So in the words of Daniel Tosh "For that Ghost are Gone we thank You"

YES!!! Haha totally agree, this song is great because it's different from the rest of the album, and also very fun and free. The slide guitar riff is kind of like the synthesizer on Stand Back because those portions set the songs apart (in a good way) from the rest of their respective albums.

I liked the demo better. I just cant get into it because I keep comparing it to how she sounded in the 70's or on rock a little. And untill she gives Poe credit, for not releasing this immediately after hurricane katrina, I maintain that without the brilliance of lindsey buckingham that this song makes her wear platform black reeboks

I like this. This interpretation makes sense to me in the context of Stevie's past. All the hanger-on's, sycophant & groupies, be them musicians, love interests, past business partners, photographers, etc., Male & Female...ALL GONE! She's clean out the baggage, and only the true friends remain in her circle. This happens as we get older, our circle of friends becomes a little smaller as we reflect and understand who's most important in our lives, and whose trouble and draining.

I love this post because it is how I feel about the song. One of the best driving songs ever. I go out of my way to play it in my truck. It's a traveling song. Just jammmm out full blast. This song rocks.

not a huge fan...my fav part is when the opening riff kicks back in towards the end and the whole ending is pretty cool. I just don't think the lyrics make a whole lot of sense but why does that surprise me? it's a Stevie Nicks song after all!

Aside from a couple of songs on The Other Side Of The Mirror, and the song Gate And Garden, I continually find a lot in her lyrics that makes a whole lot of sense. I'm confused by The Ghosts Are Gone. If you listen to the other songs on the album, her ghosts are not gone. From that comes my confusion.

So eloquently worded!
