At GMA she wore one of those new-fangled jackets with the fitted bodice and wizard sleeves. I don't recall ever seeing that jacket before. But it was much, much nicer than the see-thru top with the rouched sleeves that look like sausage casings that she has been wearing at her shows recently.

I was in the front row on Waddy's side but dashed to the center like Carl Lewis in 1984 when the security quietly packed up their chairs and walked away. Land speed record.

Yes... you are like Noah driving the ark to Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Oh, another thing... I noticed that she was playing tambo throughout "The Ghosts Are Gone." I could swear she has not done this before; she typically picks up the tambo for the extended jam at the end of the song. I thought it was sooo cool that she was singing and playing tambo at the same time again!!!

It seems she is only getting better. I can't wait for the next show!
I am glad you had a wonderful time! Glad you are also safe. Last night there were people on the venue FB page that were slamming Stevie/Venue for not canceling or postponing the show due to state of ERs that apparently got issued after the show started in other counties.

It sounds like Stevie was in super good spirits and chatty.

Glad you had a good time, Ed. How many more shows are you attending?
Yes, we will always have Red Rocks. Red Rocks was gorgeous in its own rugged way. But Bethel Woods has a decidedly genteel elegance. Immaculate lawns without a single weed. Perfectly mulched flower beds full of late summer blooms. But Bethel has the edge for vegan/vegetarian fare! Winning! I am usually prepared to starve at concerts, but this time I managed to stuff my face pretty well.

It's just a shame that it's located in the middle of nowhere. Wow. I thought Turning Stone was bad, but this is really, really amidst nothing but cows and corn.

She did this in Chicago too. I can't remember if she did it at the Ohio shows though.

If I remember correctly she did play it for most of the song in Cincy...she even told us to go out and buy tambourines and practice in our living room to this song...she said we might lose all of our friends but it wouldn't matter because we could play the tambourine

Default WOW what a wet blanket and nothing to do with Irene!!

I'm talking about the the large majority of of the crowd and most especially the venue staff. Scroll down to" End of griping" to bypass how crappy I think the Bethel venue is these days.

I would have to really think hard to count up the number of times I've seen Stevie/FM since 1979 and most of those times in seats far in the abyss where you really did take binoculars and there weren't jumbo screens. All but one concert in Houston, and one in Atlanta, were on the west coast from San Diego to Seattle. I don't EVER remember a show where people sat in their seats and acted like they were at the ballet!!!! This was a rock n roll show and you would have thought we were watching Les Miserable!!!

Many people were standing when she first came out, and sang stand back, then boom, right into their seats. When we stayed standing for the next song, people started yelling at us to sit down. WOW!! So that was a huge bummer for us. We were in the front of sec 3 and did see a group over in the center or sec 2 up and rockin, but that was about it. I asked someone there if this is the way they watched concerts out here in the east and she said, "what way?" I said just sitting in your seat and she "yes, that's how WE do it." Oops, guess I offended her... oh well.

Last gripe. Where did they get the staff? The local high security prison??? The guards at the stage on our side would shine their flashlight on you if your camera didn't focus up in 0 .7 seconds. They didn't care if you took the pictures, it's just that by the time the lens focused in (no flash) they'd be right on you. There was a barrier in front of the first row. NO FEET ACROSS THE LINE, no stretching, no picking up a water bottle you dropped...the guard was gunna get you!!! A couple people crossed the barrier when Stevie wasn't even on stage and one guy got literally pushed into the isle. He was trying to avoid stepping over about 6 people....
could not believe it. I'm only surprised they didn't carry guns or tasers!!

Last gripe....don't we always all sing along to landslide???? When did that stop? You couldn't hear anyone compared to the full out sing along last year at Tahoe. If I had been playing to this audience I would have packed up my (*&% and gone home! Hope the lights were shining in her eyes so she couldn't see the apathy.

End of the griping!

ON TO STEVIE... she was beautiful, in great voice; no early morning gravel like on GMA; she was witty and most of the time full on giddy!! She was totally into Irene. She told the funniest story about the taping of the FWIW video and was just cracking herself up!!! She saw a beautiful blue lake that she thought they were going to tape near and it just kept getting further away...."It was a mirage!! A REAL mirage, like the kind you can imagine the Indians crawling to and just eating sand..." too funny. I loved all the new songs, she really got into her performance and did not disappoint!!

One very nice thing I will say about the people at this show is that there was NO rush to the stage for the edge walk!! We walked right up front and ended up both getting the 2 hand hold and eye contact with a huge smile. Also got a set list and a pick from Waddy. My first

It was a great show because Stevie made it great. She's a true performer and artist in every sense and even though I'm now stuck in Scranton PA I would do it again. But maybe in a different venue...with different people...in the West...

No offense Easterners. We've met awesome people on this trip who have been very friendly and helpful!!

I may have some audio...I haven't listened to what I was able to get yet but if there's anything decent I'll post it.

BTW, I love how the trolls were piling on on the Bethel Facebook page. It could've gone either way as far as the show going on or not, so I can reasonably listen to someone who thought it should've been postponed, but some people's comments were just so mean.

Bethel Woods responds to upset fans
Times Herald-Record
http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbc...NEWS/110829679

Last updated: 5:12 PM - 08/29/11
BETHEL - The Facebook page for Bethel Woods Center for the Arts was flooded with comments from patrons who could not believe that the music venue did not cancel Saturday’s 8 p.m. Stevie Nicks concert given the pending hurricane that was moving into the region.

Bethel Woods late in the afternoon announced it was moving up the concert an hour, but that didn’t appease customers who noted Nicks still would not be taking the stage until 8. Folks posted that the site was putting fans at risk.

Late Monday Bethel Woods issued a one sentence statement: “Based on data from public and weather authorities, Bethel Woods and Stevie Nicks’ management made the decision not to cancel the concert.”

Please bear with this … I’ve delayed my comments for a number of reasons but mostly because I have been trying to figure out just what was not quite right about last Saturday’s show at Bethel Woods. I mean, Stevie, the band, the girls, the video stuff, Michael Grimm, were all FANTASTIC in every way, and I am so grateful to have heard the new songs which I still play daily, but…As mentioned by others, it is true that most of the crowd was acting like they were there to see a ballet or a play, certainly not a Hall-of-Fame-rock-chick-concert by one of the most influential singer-songwriters in music today! Perhaps it was because many attendees are season pass holders, or that much of the crowd seemed to be on the older end of the fan base and maybe not in a condition to rock out or whatever. Maybe it had to do with the fact that the stage was only about 4 ½ feet high so anyone standing would become instantly major blockage for others – and that there were nerdy security people sitting in folding chairs two feet from the front row scanning with their baby flashlights for any signs of cameras or recording devices so no crowd could even have had a chance to convene peacefully, lovingly or in any way at the edge to stand for the whole thing (which I would have been, and had hoped to be doing). Good God, ignoring security in order to focus on the musicians was an effort the whole time. However, in the end, I truly believe it came down to the overall effect of the hysteria surrounding the oncoming F**kin HURRICANE (that had decimated parts of NC not 24 hours earlier) and stranded some of the band there the next day! Perhaps all of us had either just shopped for emergency supplies or evacuated our home, left it all behind and driven a long way to this remote place on a mountain in the Catskills just to catch our Stevie on her way through. Like, feeling some heightened sense of caution with continuous adrenaline rush; echoed by Stevie herself as she raised both hands animatedly, “It’s coming, haaa-aghhh, and if it does, we’ll all run out of here”. From that I knew, she was pushing it, as any great performer would want to “go on with the show” and she did, by God, with such a passion and love for this new music that she shared was “refreshing” to her! That was the best thing I heard her say. When the wind would pick up, her fear and humor kicked in, “Irene?”, or “Hm, I kind of like it!”. Even I, who am not known to land on the high end of the compliance scale, put way my camera when the great and powerful Oz requested no photography or videos before the show started. That announcement, coupled with reading about Stevie having to ask fans not to take video, just made me give it up and put it away. Like you want to be a good citizen in times of crisis I guess in order not to add to the perceived chaos. Shouted at to sit down after the ovation for Stand Back, I rose to hoot, holler, clap and dance at the politically correct moments, along with many others who I know were dying to just remain standing. I can say that I learned to dance while sitting – a skill I may need some day I guess. But certainly NOT my M.O. for a Stevie or F-Mac concert…At least sitting in the front row allowed me to have the closest experience possible (thanks Ed and Anna for humoring my taking a seat with you)! I did thoroughly enjoy my time because I could see her again, hold her hand again, just be in her stunning presence again, and get a night out for me…and the museum was fabulous with a special display about Janis, Jimi and Jim, along with 60’s and Woodstock history… but my crowd sounds like it was in Boston this week.
Hopefully I'll be at that kind of show next time. Yeah, thanks for listening...

^^Yes, your crowd was definitely in Boston. You are just too wild for those altecockers in Bethel! And your points are well-taken. It was surreal to enjoy this show while feeling the hurricane nipping at your heels. Never to be forgotten.

Anyway... "Love Is"
