I'm hoping there is some sarcasm/irony going on that is going over my head...

The list is VERY long!!! STEVIE LOVED JOE!!!! Sorry, shippers!!!! No one got between Stevie and her man in 1983-1984 (except drugs, yeah!)....
Oh, good Lord, Mike. I'm sure Stevie didn't write EVERY song about Lindsey. But, what's so sad about your hating on Lindsey is the fact that Stevie herself knows he loved her most. And, add to that the fact that Joe Walsh has said some pretty nasty things about his um, "relationship" with Stevie. Not exactly a gentlemanly thing to do. Why would you want to romanticize that drug-hazed fiasco of an affair? It's sad. Stevie deserves much better and I think she realizes that now.

PS - No one really knows the subject of all her songs, but we can speculate. She has said Lindsey is in all her songs though. She hasn't said that about anyone else....

Pretty sure Thousand Days was about Prince...

Of course this song is about Walsh. And, as a part-time shipper, I don't have a problem with that. Hell, there are shippers who can reconcile LB being married to someone else, so why would Stevie writing about Joe be an obstacle??

I think it's almost beyond belief that drugs didn't play a part in the Joe Walsh infatuation, BUT I do believe that it was genuinely an all-encompassing love affair from SN's point of view. And believe me, nothing would make me happier than to think that her feelings for him were chemical-delusional, because I don't think he really cared for her at all, and that hurts me as a fan because I think he's a monumental git and she deserved so much better.

But she took up with him directly in the wake of Robin's death and I think she was so stunned that LB didn't step up at that moment and stop her from marrying Kim that she was absolutely desperate. And if I imagine I know anything at all about 'Stevie' then I imagine I know that she is one of nature's dramatists and that she is well capable of casting people in roles that they don't necessarily live up to.

I say this in a spirit of trying to understand, and with the knowledge that Stevie herself has and still does speak about these relationships. I also believe - and hope - that 'The Ghosts Are Gone' is about JW and the fact that she has managed to more or less erase that whole episode from her life. I do hope so. He seems to be somewhat of a reformed character, but he was truly horrible about her on the record, which must have hurt.

There was some on my part. I'm sorry he misunderstood. I figured two namesakes could have a little fun with each other. Maybe I shouldn't have jumped his ass on the name calling? I didn't want him to leave. I like Mike.

I shouldn't have cracked wise about him saying Stevie wrote words and lyrics. After he edited his post nothing made sense. Sorry folks. I put myself in the corner. (my dunce cap, not a party hat)

You know I've never thought about this but this is EXACTLY why I think I love Stevie so much! I totally suffer from this same damn problem/habit. Stevie said that she's learned to not expect good things, or something like that, and I try to do the same so I won't be hurt, but it just isn't easy!

My God Loz....thank you!!!! You just totally helped me define my love for this woman! Along with the other reasons u guys don't know about, THIS is y I can relate to her!!!! Thank u so much!!!! *hugs*

My point was Stevie writing a song about being IN LOVE. "One More Big Time Rock And Roll Star" and "Priest Of Nothing" were written in 1983 at the beginning of Stevie's relationship with Joe. Stevie can spin it all she wants NOW, but in 1991, 1993. 1994, 2007, 2009, she was making it CLEAR that Joe was the one true love of her life. The ONE MAN she would give up her career for.

Maybe some people haven't been in actual human/human relationships, but sometimes you start thinking back. Stevie obviously was with Street Angel. She was trying to get a message to Joe, even if he didn't hear it. SO MANY songs recorded for that album that she wrote about him:

"Thousand Days"
"Love Is Like A River"
"I Call You Missing"
"Mirror, Mirror"

I don't care about Klonopin, or maybe it DID make her reminisce about her old love for Joe. But that Mark & Brian interview makes it CLEAR she still had feelings about the man who inspired "Love Is Like A River". Why re-record the song and then talk about it?

I hope Stevie never "erases" her inspirations. I just wanted to point out a song that Stevie was IN LOVE, not bitter and hateful and vengeful. "She's IN LOVE!" When has Stevie EVER sang like that???

"Thousand Days" has one line about Prince. I doubt he is "the greatest love" that causes "the greatest pain".

Well, I don't even understand what you're arguing or who you're arguing with or why this is even something to be debated?

Like 95% of Stevie's songs are about love, thematically. And of those, she's only 'bitter and hateful and vengeful' in a small portion (as in, angry), and those songs are, actually, the direct result of a love/relationship, as well. She's not just those things for no reason.

So I don't get your point.

She was in love with Joe Walsh, she wrote songs about it. Just like she's written songs about virtually everyone else in her life and all of the feelings that came with it.

Yeah, she's said numerous times that she was in love with Joe. I don't have any reason not to believe her, as much as I would like not to because he seems like such a jerk. I'm not one to think she only writes songs about Lindsey.
