Ugh, I really, really, really don't know what to do. I'm in Pittsburgh right now, and I want to get home on my flight to Boston on Sunday to go to the show on Monday, but everyone around me is saying that my flight is going to be cancelled, and I don't doubt them. I might try to fly out on Saturday, but I don't want to make those changes and then have the Boston show cancelled or postponed anyway

I don't know if she's on The Ledge, but I met a woman named Irene at the Amoeba signing a few weeks ago...anyway...she was a few people behind me and when she walked away towards the exit of the store, she showed me her litho that Stevie signed. She said that Stevie said Irene sounds prettier in Spanish and that Stevie kept pronouncing her name in Spanish, which is "Eee-rehn-nay" as she signed the litho.
So...as I'm listening to the news about this hurricane, I keep imagining Stevie saying, "Hurricane Eee-rehn-nay better not mess with me and my people or I will be real pissed off!" ![]() And, Eerehnnay, if you're reading this... ![]()

Waiting until Saturday to decide what to do. Either we'll be confirming flights or finding a way to cancel them.
I read today that Stubhub may offer refunds, would make that part easier. We'll see ![]()

Hope it works out okay for everyone.
Found this. The Stevie Nicks concert on Saturday, Aug 27 is on as scheduled with an 8pm show time. We are carefully monitoring the weather conditions with local and national agencies and will update as needed. According to the NWS there is a 60% chance of rain after 8pm Saturday. The heavy rain and wind related to Irene is expected early Sunday morning. 3 hours ago http://www.facebook.com/BethelWoodsCenter |

Good news?
Irene's eyewall collapses; further intensification unlikely By Dr. Jeff Masters Published: 4:39 PM GMT on August 26, 2011 Satellite data and measurements from the Hurricane Hunters show that Irene is weakening. A 9:21 am EDT center fix by an Air Force Reserve aircraft found that Irene's eyewall had collapsed, and the central pressure had risen to 946 mb from a low of 942 mb this morning. The highest winds measured at their flight level of 10,000 feet were 125 mph, which would normally support classifying Irene as a Category 3 hurricane with 115 mph winds. However, these winds were not mixing down to the surface in the way we typically see with hurricanes, and the strongest surface winds seen by the aircraft with their SFMR instrument were just 90 mph in the storm's northeast eyewall. Assuming the aircraft missed sampling the strongest winds of the hurricane, it's a good guess that Irene is a mid-strength Category 2 hurricane with 100 mph winds. Satellite imagery shows a distinctly lopsided appearance to Irene's cloud pattern, with not much heavy thunderstorm activity on the southwest side. This is due to moderate wind shear of 10 - 20 knots due to upper-level winds out of the southwest. This shear is disrupting Irene's circulation and has cut off upper-level outflow along the south side of the hurricane. No eye is visible in satellite loops, but the storm's size is certainly impressive. Long range radar out of Wlimington, North Carolina, shows that the outermost spiral bands from Irene are now beginning to come ashore along the South Carolina/North Carolina border. Winds at buoy 41004 100 miles offshore from Charleston, SC increased to 36 mph as of 10 am, with significant wave heights of 18 feet. http://www.wunderground.com/blog/Jef...s/article.html |
